I'm told I will likely only need to do a 24 hour pre-op diet. I guess I'll know for sure at the pre-op appt 8/4. Sounds like most of you have to do longer though. I wonder why that is?My surgeon stated that it's to give the liver time to shrink, making it easier for them to manipulate laparoscopicly during the surgery. Dawnie_doo

As I begin day 1 of the liquids I'm excited, nervous, and excited again!!! The items in the pic are a sample of what my life will be like for a while. I said a serious prayer today for physical and mental strength, and will continue. This is truly a journey! I'll do well, I'm sure. God is with me...His strength is made perfect in my weakness! Yes! I was told 45 after eating to drink Water, take sips, eat slowly at meals, limit veggies in the beginning Smh many differences. I'm looking for the articles I read that support the new gold standards. Dawnie_doo

OMG I'm so glad that your spirit and determination is getting you through this! I'm with the others in saying that my prayers are with you for healing in Jesus' name!!! I'm scheduled for the bypass on August 8th. May I ask, what surgery did you have? Where'd you have it done? I Dawnie_doo

I'm definitely with you! My Dr saw it on my face that I was second guessing everything. He said that I was at a greater risk of dying from my comorbidities than from complications from surgery. I was like, well damn! Lol I'm going through with it...8/08 is surgery date. God is with me and He's with you. With God ALL things are possible! I'm here if you need me. Stay encouraged! Dawnie_doo

Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App I have to have all clear liquids, nothing after 12a, not even meds the morning of. I'm excited for you and will be checking for your updates. The liquid diet sounds a little tough to me even though I drink most of my calories majority of the time anyway, but I guess milkshakes are a total different ballgame. LOL Have you found a good brand of protein mix you like? I was online reading and the Syntrax Nectar sounds good since they offer more than chocolate and vanilla. Have you tried them or know anyone who has? I'm going to Vitamin Shoppe since I saw they carry it and hopefully they have sample sizes. I just know after drinking so many I will need some variety. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App I find that Isopure from Vitamin Shoppe is good. I'm using Bariatric Advantage tho. Actually I have both. My doc recommended a different class of shakes for pre-op...I'm gonna use Boost Shakes. Dawnie_doo

@@LoseItKacy OMG congrats to you!!! You're an inspiration...I'm actually tearing up! My surgery is on 8/08/16. I'm 5'6", 281 lbs. You're skin looks great! I doubt mine will bounce back the same because I'm a lil older Haha but still! Awesome!!!! You're doing great...you were beautiful before and beautiful after. Liquid diet starts on 7/25 for me. I still have to get my shakes (it's on sale, woo hoo!!!). I have my Vitamins, although I want the Bariatric Advantage ones. It's more expensive, so I'm taking Centrum Adult Chewable. I still need broth, etc but at least I have Jello lol I'm nervous too. I keep reading my list. I'm going shopping tomorrow! Dawnie_doo

Congrats on your progress! I agree that you should take it slow!!! You definitely don't want to injure yourself. Slow and steady! You're on your way. My surgery is on August 8 th and I've already asked about the gym Lol Dr said go now before surgery because it helps the process. After surgery I'll only be able to walk for about 6 weeks. Ugh! My surgeon said 4-6 weeks off. I move around alot for my job...sometimes at my desk, but I drive to homes as well. The surgeon already mentioned lifting and driving restrictions as a general rule. He said that, in addition to pain, I have to get used to eating new because I'm always moving and food isn't readily available. Dawnie_doo

Everyone is different...but I was told 4-6 weeks. I'm glad to have that long of an adjustment period. Dawnie_doo
