Everything went well. I'm up and awake every now and then. Getting up and walking isn't my best friend. I just want to sleep.

I'm hopefully having my Sleeve done here within the next month. I've never had kids, and suffer from Amenorrhea. I just started taking Provera to see if that will help, if not, hopefully the surgery will? My husband has expressed wanting to have kids. Has anybody been in my position and have been able to get pregnant post Op? Thanks! Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App

So, I spoke with the surgeons office this morning. Surgery is scheduled for 11:45AM on July 21st. Woo! So the diet starts on Monday, July 11th. They said for the first 7 days, I get to have 2 Protein shakes, and 1 protein and veggies meal. Then the last 3 days is 3 Protein Shakes. So my question, if you've had a similar diet, what did you do for your protein and veggie meal? I know if I don't ask I'll resort to chicken and broccoli and that is boring. Thanks! Still waiting for approval from UHC.

The insurance received the paperwork on June 14th, and I keep calling for a status update. I'm impatient. Still under review. How long did everybody else have to wait to hear the answer with UHC? Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App -

Insurance and Surgeons Office aren't on the same page!
mrz.mott posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm starting to get frustrated! I apologize if I'm not putting this in the right area, but I'm looking for advice. My insurance company told me prior to even meeting with a surgeon that I didn't have a specified length of time to go through the diet and exercise process with a physician. Somehow when the surgeons office called and asked the insurance company for my requirements, they were told a 3 months diet and exercise was required. But when I called them again, I was told no specified amount of time. I get to my third appointment, and I was advised that the insurance required 6 months. What the heck is going on! So I gave them the phone number that I have been calling to verify benefit requirements, and they left a message for my case manager, and she hasn't gotten back to them. So I called my insurance company to see if they could call the surgeons office. Nope! Inbound phone calls only. Ugh! They then told me that it doesn't have to be my case manager that verifies the benefits. So I called the surgeons office once again to tell them to speak with anybody. They are supposed to, and get back in contact with me. I have literally done every other requirement. Why am I getting conflicting information? Why can't we all be on the same page? Am I stepping outside of my boundaries? I feel like I'm bugging everybody about this, but dammit, it's my life/body/time! I've even contemplated going to a different surgeon. But who knows how much progress I might lose doing that. I just want them to submit it for approval already, I'm getting aggravated! Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App -
Insurance and Surgeons Office aren't on the same page!

So, I just was notified by UHC that they only Administrate the claims, that my employer sets the guidelines of the benefits. So I called them and asked if the providers office has called to verify my benefits, and they told me that they haven't talked to any providers. I'm getting so frustrated! What do I have to tell the surgeons office to get them do what I want them to do? Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App -

I'm not sure if you were talking to me or not, but I figured I'd let you hear what my response is if it was in regards to me. I'm still fighting with my surgeons office to get on the same page as the insurance and me. I'd recommend getting some sort of insurance language in a hard copy to take with you to your surgeon. That way that have it there and they know that your policy isn't like all UHC policies. Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App -

Hi! My name is Chelsea, I'm 24 years old, and am considered morbidly obese. I sent an email to my insurance company to see if the surgery was even covered. They invited me to speak with their Bariatric Center, and was informed that I met the criteria needed, and provided me with a list of surgeons in my area on January 26th, 2016. On August 22nd, 2015, I married the love of my life. We first started dating when I was 15, and he was 17. Being foolish, immature kids, we ended up breaking up about 2 years later. However, we always had issues staying apart. My husband is about 160ish pounds, and I'm pretty much twice his weight. Initially, I first starting thinking about the surgery because of him. It isn't always easy to keep up with him, being my size. I wanted to give him a healthier, happier, more attractive wife. When I really started thinking about having surgery, I starting thinking about my own self. In August of 2015, I was having some issues with lumps in my breasts, but in November I was given the all clear, that it was not cancer, rather, just build up of Calcium. One of the most freighting times of my life. I knew then, that I needed to get my life back on track, I needed to get healthy. Like many of us, I've tried dieting, exercising, for months on end. The first month usually being a decent month, the second month, was nothing but a stall, and the third month, I'd gain back all the weight, plus some. No matter how long I would do this, I'd never see any results. My consultation with my surgeon, Dr. Mohsin Soliman here in Kansas City, was on March 16th, 2016. I was given the requirements of needing to get approval from the Nut and the Psychologist, both of which I had completed within that same week. I was also ordered to have a sleep study done. I eventually found out that I have Mild Sleep Apnea. I was put on a CPAP machine, which I'm not all that fond of. My second appointment with Dr. Soliman was on April 20th, 2016. He had advised me that he had gotten the sleep study results, the approval from the Nut and Psychologist, and I just needed to work on getting approval from a Primary Care Physician. I'm going this Tuesday to complete the remaining blood work to get that all completed. This same visit, he told me that my insurance required 3 months of consecutive visits with a weight loss physician. Which, that is not what my Nurse Case Manager told me. I was advised that there wasn't a specified amount of time required. So, he told me to complete the PCP approval, and we would then submit to the insurance on our next appointment. Unfortunately, I didn't get that completed. I met again with him on June 1st, 2016. His nurse then told me that I was set up for 6 consecutive visits! So in a months time, the required time had doubled. I was hoping to be able to get this surgery done in May when I initially inquired with my insurance, but that didn't happen. So I then brought up the fact that my insurance told me that there wasn't a required length of time. They advised that they were going to call my Nurse Case Manager, and get back to me by June 3rd, 2016. By 1PM on June 3rd, I had called them to see if there was any news. The nurse advised that she was waiting on a call back from the case manager. She then was supposed to try and call the case manager again. Here it is, June 5th, 2016 and I still don't know anything. Dr. Soliman advised that if the insurance doesn't require it, when as soon as that PCP letter comes in, they are going to submit the information to the insurance, so we can schedule a surgery date. So, at this point, I'm just keeping my fingers crossed, because I REALLY don't want to wait until nearly November to get the surgery. I want it now! (I'm not the most patient person in the world.) If I don't hear anything by June 7th, 2016, I'll be calling back again, as I'll have the whole day off. I've tried a handful of Protein products, such as powders, bars, and already mixed drinks. Some were great, others, not so much. So if you have any recommendations, feel free to let me know what you like! Actually, any advice that you can give me, would be greatly appreciated!

Insurance and Surgeons Office aren't on the same page!
mrz.mott replied to mrz.mott's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They said that their requirements would be the same as the insurance requirements. The surgeon even told me that if they verify that there is no specific time frame, they will submit it for approval that day. Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App -
Last appointment Wednesday!
mrz.mott replied to betterme38's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The email they sent me had me log into a secure website, so you should be looking for something from Optum and the subject should say something about registered nurse. I ended up calling UHC myself, spoke with them and the bariatric center in Optum, which they both told me the same thing, there is no requirement for consecutive visits with a physician. If I don't get a call from the surgeons office by 3, I'm calling them. I can't wait all weekend not knowing. :-) Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App -

I had the same requirements. I my the call to the insurance company informed February, my consultation was March 16, and I've completed the nut and psych visits, but the insurance company told the surgeons office that I required 6 months of visits. I hate getting mixed information. Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App

Last appointment Wednesday!
mrz.mott replied to betterme38's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
BetterMe....wondering which "flavor" of United Healthcare you have? I have Choice Plus, and the nurse on the phone said no waiting period?Maybe since my BMI is so high (52) that's why they told me that... Or maybe I am going to get a really crummy surprise when my surgeon's office starts communicating with United Healthcare. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App I also have Choice Plus, and my BMI is 56, they told me that there was no specified amount of time for diet and exercise, but when my surgeons office called, they told them 6 months. So I gave them the number to my case manager, and they are going to call her and verify what is really right. I should know by the end of this week. I don't want to wait longer! I want this now! Yeah Dr Soliman is based out of St. Joseph Hospital, but he also performs at Menorah Medical, and that is where I have to have the surgery, per insurance requirements. And it looks like we might have our surgery around the same time. I'm just hoping that I get approved when they submit it on the 25th. My insurance is giving conflicting information. I finally met the surgeon.
mrz.mott replied to mrz.mott's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Update: I saw the surgeon again today. I mentioned to him my concern about having 3 consecutive weigh-in appointments, since my insurance policy does not have a specific amount of visits required. So he wants me to get the referral letter from the PCP, and our next appointment on May 25th, he will be submitting the paperwork to the insurance! I've got my fingers, toes and legs crossed! I want this so bad! Also he got my results from the sleep study, and he sounded pretty positive that I have Sleep Apnea. Blah. I go in May 3rd to talk with the sleep doctor to go over the results. Poo! Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App
