    OCTOBER GBs where are you?!?!

A little frustrated today, nearly 2:00 and I still haven't received my call with a surgery time for tomorrow. If I don't hear from someone by 3:00 I'm calling in and trying to find out myself.

    OCTOBER GBs where are you?!?!

Surgery on Wednesday, can't believe it's finally here. Pre-op diet has gone well but mine seems "easy" compared to so many on liquids only. My wife is taking a few days off to take care of me. We've been making homemade stock for the post op weeks before I can get back to solid food. I'm self employed so I'm freaking out a bit about that. Hopefully I can get back to my computer pretty quick otherwise it just piles up. Need to do some laundry and pack my hospital bag tomorrow.

    OCTOBER GBs where are you?!?!

Just got off the phone with my hospital, they called to do my pre-registration. She said everything is all approved through insurance and I’m good to go! I was a bit worried about that as I have heard Cigna can sometimes be troublesome, I've seen folks here really struggle with their own insurances, and I hadn't heard anything from them yet. In the home stretch of my pre-op diet, 5 and a half days to surgery. Haven't gone over my calorie or carb goal a single time.

    OCTOBER GBs where are you?!?!

Getting close to my Oct. 5 GB surgery dateI I'm in the midst of my pre-op diet. For my Doc at DHMC in NH it's 800-1000 cal/day, less than 80g carbs. That's it. So I'm thankful to eat real food (in very small quantities) and just have to supplement with shakes if necessary. I continued to be surprised by how varied pre-op diets are. Seems like a LOT of Docs are still pushing the liquid diet. Given how standardized the surgeries are now, I'm surprised the pre-op diets haven't followed suit.

    October surgery

Started my pre-surgery diet on Tuesday, down 14 lbs today. 800-1000 cal/day, 100g of Protein, 80g of carbs. Once I got over the sugar headaches it hasn't been too bad. I get hungry, for sure, but without the sugar in play, it's not been that sicky-feeling kind of shaky hungry I used to get. Surgery date, Oct. 5th.

    Pre-opt diet....

It's sort of fascinating how different each programs' pre-surgery diets are. My friend in CT didn't have to do much of anything except for clear liquids 48 hours before surgery. For me, at DHMC in NH, I have 2 weeks of 1000 cal/day, very low carb, but real food is fine. Reading every other possible combo on these forums. I wonder why that hasn't become more standardized across the industry yet.

    It's Official...

Had my final pre-surgery meeting today, pre-op diet starts tomorrow, gastric bypass in 2 weeks. I've taken the last few weeks to enjoy a few of my favorite foods without messing up my daily dieting. My family made me a wonderful, Thanksgiving dinner last Sunday. I hit up my favorite pizza place. I feel like I've satisfied the itch. Tonight, I'm making Shepherds Pie. It won't be the last thing I eat before my surgery, but it's certainly the last "big meal" I'll have... ever. And I'm ok with that. I'm so ready to get on with the second half of my life a fitter man. https://www.instagram.com/p/BKjcY5BAVpC/

My very favorite thing is Thanksgiving dinner. So my wife and mother in law are planning a full dinner sometime next week before I start my 2wk pre-op diet. Surgery on Oct. 5th!

    October surgery

Agreed! This is major surgery, for a major issues that we've all been struggling with probably for our entire lives. It would be odd if you weren't apprehensive. I began this progress 4 years ago and backed out after the first seminar. I wasn't ready then, I couldn't wrap my head around it. I'm ready now.

    October surgery

Just got my surgery date of October 5th. Now I wait to see if Cigna approves it or if there are issues. Been working on per-surgery requirements for both Cigna, and the DHMC program for the last year, I'm excited to actually DO IT!!
