Ate wrong Tuesday afternoon and felt bad soon afterward. Threw up (or tried to) 4 times on Wednesday. By Thursday morning felt fine but sore and went on Clear Liquids. Full liquids yesterday. Mushies today. I already had a doctor's appt (for a fill) Thursday morning but when I told him what had happened, he said no fill....which was fine by me. He was the one that said back to liquids to let my stomach calm down after the wretching. Have you tried warm liquids? That helped me.

Up to this point, I had been doing great - guess I just got a little overconfident and forgot the mantra....chew, CHEW, CHEW!!!!! All is well now and on to mushies for a day or two....admittedly I'm a little gun-shy but by Monday, back to real food. This too shall pass!!!

Sounds to me like you MAY be blocked....at least partially. I was banded 8-13-08 and was doing really well (nothing getting stuck) until this week. Like a DUMMY, I ate some beef and broccoli - didn't chew as well as I should have and felt nauseated soon afterward. That was about 4 PM on Tuesday. Started dry heaves about 8:30 Wednesday morning, and finally about 24 hours after I had eaten wrong, the culprit came up (after much uncomfortable wretching!!) - a piece of broccoli that looked like I hadn't even chewed it at all. I was scheduled to have my second fill on Thursday, but needless to say, the doc said "no way". I have been back on liquids since Thursday....and learned a very valuable lesson. If I had only NOT been so silly........old eating habits die hard.

AMEN to that!! I'd do it again in a heartbeat!

Welcome to the wonderful world of "insurance".....most insurance companies will deny you the first time (READ: automatically deny) - it is in their best interest to do so. If you give up and don't pursue it, they don't have to pay anything. So start fighting! My insurance company wouldn't even let me ask - they won't cover ANY surgical procedure for weight loss - no matter what. AND....I went to THEIR hospital and surgeon to have it done. Go figure!!!

I agree - I don't know that I'd want to chance it. That's one of the reasons we have flavor extracts!! :wink2:

Was banded last Wed 8-13-08 and am feeling better each day. Came out of surgery with a whopping migraine but it has gone now - Thank GOD! Am still on Clear liquids but I know better things are coming. Did anybody miss me???:thumbup:

Thanks to all of you who have posted to this thread. We WILL make it - I KNOW it. I look at it one liquid at a time.....some days/hours/minutes are just going to be that way. I am trying to keep my focus on the BIG picture - getting healthier!! I spoke to a friend tonight (her hubby is an anesthesiologist) and she said the post-surgery headaches are fairly common. Glad I didn't know about it ahead of time..... LOL All in all - even with the HORRIBLE headache, I think I have done better than I expected to. I just have to keep reminding myself I just had surgery - I have to take my time and let my new tummy heal. This too shall pass.........

It's almost here - I am getting my band THIS Wednesday!! I've decided that this is my birthday gift to myself - I turn 55 on Aug 20th - and the 13th is the first day of my NEW healthier, more active life!!! Good luck to all the August bandsters!

Thanks for the suggestions - plus I will still have my EXCELLENT tasting Unjury shakes. These are GREAT with skim milk. Getting nervous (more apprehensive than anything) - I report tomorrow morning at 10AM CDT. I will try to post as soon as I am able afterward to let you know I made it through!!!!! Thanks to all for all the encouragement and information so far. I look forward to MUCH more "on the other side"!!!!

My concern at the moment is how to get enough protein daily post-op. Since hubby is not a grocery shopper - I want to make sure I have the proper things stocked up ahead of time....and time is growing shorter as we speak!!

You must have been reading my mind. I went looking for something today and couldn't find anything other than an over the head sports bra. I just ordered two - thanks again!!

She's the Bariatric Nurse - the one who does most of the fills.

Sorry you had a not-so-pleasant experience at S&W. What you may think about Paulette as being 'cold', I feel is, she is just very blunt. She tells it like it is. She's already "been there and done that" and is simply trying to get us to learn from her mistakes. I have found everyone to be very caring and interested in my success.

Hey - I am being banded by Dr. Symmonds on Aug 13!!! So tell me - if hubby loves you the way you are, and pieces of you do too.....I am curious.....what is your motivation to do this?

You go for it, girl!!! I plan on going to VS myself - maybe by Christmas? Don't get banded til Aug 13th so I can surely try!!!

I am being banded on Aug 13. Then Sept 17 is our 20 Year Anniversary - am I crazy to think I could do an Alaska cruise by then??? :thumbdown::confused2:

I agree with most all of the suggestions so far....and here is my slightly different interpretation of one.....I would like to be able to buy slacks that fit and the crotch is up where it SHOULD be - not down to my knees!!! LOL :thumbup:

:thumbup: I got a date!! August 13 - guess I need to learn PATIENCE. This gives me lots of time to read everything I wanted to ahead of time as well. This will be my birthday present to myself (birthday is Aug 20!!) - a NEW life!!!!

Am researching LB and have decided on Dr Richard Symmonds (not THAT one!!!) at Scott & White. Will be self pay so not sure when I will proceed. Anybody know anything about him - good or bad??
