I'm going through this right now! Every time I try to eat something, it comes right back, and it's burning. I pretty much made it through yesterday, but haven't tried eating anything yet today. I think I'll try drinking some hot liquid to see if that helps. I have also noticed that I can't drink anything cold in the morning or my band seems to tighten up right away. Thanks for the advice catzintj. It helped me if no one else!

My reply to you is to make sure you let your doctor know that swallowing pills can be an issue. Many pills can be crushed, but some cannot. I automatically ask for either liquid or chewable forms of all drugs unless the pills are small. Most antibiotics are huge honkin' pills and hard even for the unbanded to swallow. Hope this helps!

I too have been gone for some time. I sort of slipped off the lap-band radar when I got pregnant last August. I delivered my healthy baby boy on April 30, 2007 weighing 8# 5oz. I am already back down to my prepregnancy weight and raring to get started again. I am planning to get family photos done in October with my 4 boys, hubby and myself. I'm hoping to be at least another 30 pounds down by then...maybe more. Anyone with advice...is definately welcome. It's hard to get motivated when you're busy caring for an infant, a 3 year old, 2 older boys, a husband and a household. It sure doesn't leave much time for taking care of me, but I know I have to invest the time. Thanks for listening. -
Fuit 2 O and Dannon flavored water are carbonated!!!
deenae53964 replied to Sunta's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I swear by the Fruit 2 O and LOVE it. I haven't had any problems and it isn't carbonated. It could be something that they use to flavor the Water that doesn't agree with you. I also love Nestle' Pure Life in Lemon Splash. Seems as though I'm pretty partial to lemon or grape flavor these days. Hope this helps! -
I had my first fill this past Monday and I asked him at that time what size band I have. I have a 10 cc band. He was only going to put in 1cc in, but I had no restriction with that so he put in another .5 cc. He said that would be all he would put in at this visit. I honestly have some restriction, but not what I thought I would. I'm just getting used to chew, chew chewing again. I was able to eat just about anything with not a whole lot of problems. Now I do have that momentary stick once and a while. I go back in 6 more weeks for another fill. We'll see how much he puts in at that time. He did it all without the use of the flouroscope. He did it all by feel and all went well. Good luck to everyone and MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Just an FYI for anyone on DEPO, that can cause weight gain as well. I was on it for several years and gained a LOT of weight in that time. It also can take a while after you go off it to get pregnant (if that's something you'd be interested in). It took me almost a year to get pregnant after my last shot and I never went back to it. I have problems with any of the birth control with hormones in. I went to an IUD and haven't had any problems. I am still a little concerned about the weirdness in my periods, but I'm going to wait until next month to bring it up to my doctor. Maybe it'll be back on schedule by then.

Gatorade has a lot of sodium in. It is meant to replenish fluids lost due to excessive excercise and strenuous activities. I would back off the Gatorade and limit it to maybe 1 serving a day if at all. Drink plenty of Water...even Propel or Fruit2o would be good alternatives. Crystal Light and sugar free Kool Aid are also good alternatives if you prefer something with flavor. My BP was always high and I've been on medications for years for it. At my last appointment, my BP was really, really good. Maybe I'll be off of one more med? WooHoo. Just one of the many great side effects from having the band.

Liquid Phase- What kind of calorie intake am I aiming for?
deenae53964 replied to StephanieRaye's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My nutritionist never really mentioned a calorie goal. She just said to make sure I get in at least 60 grams of Protein in and at least 64 oz of Water. The rest should take care of itself. I've found that if I'm eating my protein first, I don't eat nearly as much for the rest of the meal. Good luck! Hope this helps. -
I had the same problem, and it endured for quite some time. My bottom got VERY raw and hurt...a lot. I saw that as I was getting all the Protein I was supposed to in, things started to bind up. Also, I was on an Iron supplement, which helped in the binding process as well. Pepto Bismol has aspirin in. I don't know if your doctor told you this, but mine said no Ibuprofen or aspirin...ever again. Tylenol or acetaminophen is ok. Immodium should be ok, though. Check with your doctor to be sure. Just be assured that you will get through this, too. Be sure to get your protein in every day. My nutritionist said 60 grams daily. Your stools should start binding up within a day or two of getting at least that amount in. Good Luck!

Ethan is SOOO adorable! I can't wait to have a bassett of my very own. Yes, you're correct about the names Flash and Fred. Smokey & the Bandit is where Fred comes from and Flash is from The Dukes of Hazzard. 'Ol Velvet ears! Thanks for sharing the pics. I'll try to post of my Daisy when I get home.

I love Bassets! I have wanted one for so long...actually...someday I want to maybe raise them. My first pair will be named Fred and Flash. If you want to know where the names come from ask me. Right now I own a miniature long haired daschund named Daisy. She is 11 months old and so incredibly sweet! She is chocolate/cream dapple and brings much excitement to our house. We also have a 14 year old cat named Buddy and 2 dwarf hamsters named Bert and Ernie (my kids named them). I don't like the things, but as long as I don't have to deal with them, it's alright by me. I read somewhere they only live for about 1-2 years (I'm not sure how old they are now as they were given to the boys) so I"m happy with that. Thanks for asking!

Well I had my period when I had my surgery. Since then, my period started last Thursday and usually lasts 7 days. I had 2 days of pretty heavy bleeding and now since Saturday nothing but some light spotting. I don't understand this at all. I have been VERY regular and this is not normal for me at all. I have had some pretty painful cramping, which I normally don't have as well. I'm hoping everything will regulate itself next month otherwise I'll call my doctor. I have an IUD because I can't tolerate the hormones in the pill, so we'll see. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one having some questions about this subject. Thanks.
