I haven't been posting here lately, been a rough couple of weeks (unrelated to WLS). Lost my job unexpectedly which sucked, but I started my own business and my wife was able to find work so things are looking up.
And most importantly, as of this morning, for the first time in probably 25 years or more, there was a number 1 in the first spot on the scale! Down exactly 115 lbs in just about 6 months, amazing. Had my doctor's visit today and they said that the goal is to lose 70% of excess weight in 1 year, I'm at 80% down in 6 months, so they're very happy (and so am I!)
    Just felt like sharing!

Looking great!! I totally know what you mean about chairs getting 'bigger'. Sat in my therapists chair today after 6 weeks and it was 'bigger' again!! There is room on either side of me now and I can remember the first time I saw her, before surgery, I was wedged into that chair!

33 since surgery, the rest was before that. This pic was before I started Keto and my pre-op. I've been a little bit stalled, but I'm not sweating it too hard. I'm taking my surfboard out this weekend which is a big time calorie burner for me. So I don't think I'll be stalled for long.

ETA: I was never able to fit in those pub chairs before (on the right). Whenever we would go to that court bar, I had to stand the whole time and just act like I didn't feel like sitting to save myself from being embarrassed. It feels really good to not have hips the size of a Chevy tailgate anymore.

Actually, the pH level of coffee is not much different than your own saliva. Coffee acidity seems to be all the rage night now, rather low acid coffee, but that isn't describing the pH level of the brew:
    https://espressocoffeeguide.com/all-about-coffee-2/coffee-flavor/acidity/
Now, I don't doubt that coffee could have affected your digestive system. A good, strong cup of Joe can send me waddling to the bathroom with cheeks clenched tighter than a tube top in a trailer park. But it is related to the concentration of caffiene and not the pH of the coffee.
    edit - just found this:

I haven't had my surgery yet, but I've been doing Keto for 2 months. I have dropped 25 lbs so far and I feel great. I definitely plan to keep doing it after vsg. Check out the Fitmissbliss blog, she's a VSGer who does keto now too.

I really wanted to share this, because I feel very proud. And because I often see people posting about whether or not they should do it and how afraid they are, but I am one of these people who says: this is one of the best decisions I have ever made in my adult life!
The pic on the left was taken Aug. 31 2015 at around 320+ pounds. I had my surgery Nov 23, 2015. The photo on the right was taken a little over a week ago. 54 pounds until I reach my goal weight.

Does your plan let you do the strained creamed Soup? Having that (with unflavored Protein Powder stirred in) was a lifesaver for me during the last 2 of those 3 weeks. Because of the carbs, I would only let myself have it once per day (maybe twice, I can't remember), but it made a huge difference.

Because you only get a movement every few days, it may be the body's way of emergency evacuating everything. You know this is the case if there are solid chunks surrounded by Water. If it is pure water... then I'm less sure.
Maybe try a fiber supplement every day and see where that gets you. Probiotics are always a good thing too.
Examining your diet to see if there is something you are eating that might point to a cause.
And if you can't seem to get things normalized, of course mention it to your doc since they may want to recommend something else or run tests.
    Good luck!

I almost didn't remember, and then at some point today it hit me: It's been two years since I had gastric sleeve surgery. Two years since I woke in post-op, so sleepy and sore and full of hope for a better life.
And two years later, as I'm still learning how to be a person who is 147 lbs in this world instead of 264, I hit a new milestone. In Crossfit this morning, during a workout meant for the public at large (read: not just hard-core Crossfit types), I outran a number of people who are considerably younger and fitter than me. It wasn't a competition and by no means do I feel superior, but it was a small personal victory all the same.
Because two years ago, I couldn't have run a single 100 meter without getting winded. And just a year and a half ago when I first started Crossfit, I would have walked a good portion of this workout. And here I was, still "overweight" via BMI and in my early 40s, crushing a workout that was challenging to 20-somethings.
So cheers to two years out. And to an even better three, and four, and beyond.
    Let's crush it.

Are you eating sugar free pudding? I could literally use that as a laxative. Check the ingredients list. Any sweetener that ends in"ol" kills me.
I loved the title of this thread. [emoji23]

I use a straw all the time. I've never had any issues with gas or reflux. I don't swallow air when I drink through a straw, so I don't understand the correlation.

I'm a little over 1 month. I've not had issues lately with pain, that was at the beginning especially when I was having smoothies via straw. I swallow air all the time anyways regardless of what method I use so I'm used to burping and farting.
Edit: I'm afraid to look at that link that just appeared on the word "farting".

SassyScienceNerd reacted to RussT in Weighing all your food is so important
Around the time of my 6 month surgery anniversary, I was getting sloppy with weighing what I ate. I was down to 316 pounds ( pre surgery weight was 470 in Nov 2016) but I stayed 316 for a few weeks. I had stopped weighing all my food on my digital kitchen scale. I would "eye" all my portions. Finally, I decided to get back to weighing and measuring everything. That did the trick. As soon as I started weighing everything, I noticed that the portions I had been giving myself were a little too big. The number on the scale soon began to go down again and as of today I'm 310 (that's 160 pounds lost in 7 months). So, it looks like I'm going to keep weighing and measuring all my food because I need to. I still have BIG EYES and cannot trust my brain to know what the right portion size is.

Going to the support groups isn't to land a date. It's to get out and be social. Dating is not the only way to be social. Go make friends. Go get comfortable in public outings. Have fun. The goal isn't to meet someone to date, but it might happen anyway. When you're comfortable and happy with your social life it's a lot easier to attract someone who sees light coming out of you. Right now you are projecting this image (at least on this thread) as a sad, shut-in loner who hopes that internet magic will bring you a love life. Go love life instead, and the rest will either come or it won't, but at least you'll be out enjoying the world.

Very excited and feel that I have achieved a great milestone!
Here's me playing golf for the first time in my life. I suck at it but it was fun feeling good out there.
