  1. Happy 47th Birthday whattawoman!

  2. Hello My name is Gabby, I will have surgery with Dr. Ramos on October the 5th, can you tell me more about your experience with him?

    Anyone used Dr Ricardo Kelly?

I had the lapband done with Dr. Ramos Kelly and when I got home. I had a severe infection at the port site and had to have the port removed. I missed a month of work and it took 6 months for my port site wound to heal. I just rececently 9/15/08 had the port put back in by my Dr in the US. The surgery with Dr Kelly should have taken 30-45 minutes. I was in there for 3 1/2 hrs. My husband was told different reasons why, they needed to get the band then the machine broke down and they had to get a part to fix it. We will never know for sure what happened. I just know that I came home with a life threatening infection.
  4. Hello,

I think I added you as a friend, this is a little different than adding a friend on my space. =)

I would love to talk with you more!

  5. Hi Stacie,

Contact me in private and I'll give you my cell number and you can give me a call. I'd love to talk to you.

  6. Hello! I am going to see Dr. Kelly on April 18th for my lap band surgery. I just wondered it you could tell me about your experience so far (and/or have any tips for me.)

    Thank you-

    Stacie

Just an fyi to pre-op patients

I had my surgery 2/8/08 in Mexico. I'm not sure what had happened during my surgery but instead of it taking 30-45 minutes. I was in there 3 1/2 hrs with different explainations. They had to get the right band, a machine broke down and they were waiting for a part, one of the medical staff was not there. (I don't know the true answer) Everything seemed ok while I was there after that but none of the hospital staff spoke English at all. I had the surgery on a Friday and expected to be back to work on Tuesday. We'll Tuesday morning came and I took some pain medication and then ended up calling in sick. A friend from work called and told me to go to the doctor but by this point I couldn't even go to my purse to get the number to make a dr. appt. I felt better by the time my husband got home from work, but by now my port site was a disgusting pussy mess gushing out. I made a dr appt for the next day and was hospitalized for 4 days. The port site was very infected and I had to have another surgery to remove it. A nurse was coming to my house twice a day to change my wound (a 4 cm deep wound) I'm down to once a day now and will be going back to work on Monday 3/10/08 I had no idea that I would be off for soooo long or that I would have been soooo sick. I'm pretty healthy other than a bmi of 35. I had them leave the band in and may eventually have a new port put in but I'm scared of more surgery. The reason I think I got the infection was they had me take a shower after the surgery without covering the wounds (they covered them with plastic after) and the Mexican water is NASTY. My Dr thinks it was something done during surgery. I will never know. I just want people thinking of this surgery to know. I do belive in the surgery but would only get it done in the U.S. I just wish my insurance would have paid for it, because they're sure paying out now. Thanks for listening all coments are welcome
