Hi guys! I am set to have my banding done on July 30th at the Obesity Control Center in Mexico. I have a question about the kinds of bands they use there. If any on you have been banded there (Mexico in general) within the last 3 years or so' date=' what kind of band did you have placed and what band options were available to you? I am really worried about having the older 4cc lap band used on me, I've heard some not very good things about the 4cc band. Also, if you have had the 4cc band what has been your experience with it?? All your help and info is greatly appreciated (:

Don't have Dr. Kelly Ramos do the surgery. I almost died from a port site infection 3 days after my surgery. I had to have the port removed in the U.S. I was off work for a month and it took months for the port site hole to close. It was packed with gauze and changed by in home care people twice a day and took months to heal. I had the port replaced about 9 months later and have not had much success. Most of the weight I lost was from being sick. I started off at about 213 and I'm 5'5 my lowest weight was about 185. There have been multiple problems including a huge hernia that was repaired and is now back again. It was a huge mistake for me. If this post helps save one person from going through what I did. Them I'm glad I could help. Please don't have surgery in Mexico!!!

When I did 2 days later the port was infected so badly I almost died. I had to have another surgery to have the port taken out and about 9 months or so later they put the port back in. The surgeries after were done in CA. My Dr in Mexico was Dr, Kelly Ramos

I had the lapband done with Dr. Ramos Kelly and when I got home. I had a severe infection at the port site and had to have the port removed. I missed a month of work and it took 6 months for my port site wound to heal. I just rececently 9/15/08 had the port put back in by my Dr in the US. The surgery with Dr Kelly should have taken 30-45 minutes. I was in there for 3 1/2 hrs. My husband was told different reasons why, they needed to get the band then the machine broke down and they had to get a part to fix it. We will never know for sure what happened. I just know that I came home with a life threatening infection.
