I'm a married mom of 2 beautiful girls, and I've struggled with my weight my whole life. I first remember being overweight, and different from my friends around age 5. I was 240 lbs by the time I graduated high school. As a young adult, I very gradually got to a healthy weight and maintained it for about 2.5 years until I got pregnant with my first child. From that point, I've steadily gained, and am currently at my all time high. I've spent the last 7 years feeling shameful and frustrated that I could not get it under control again, despite trying the same things that worked the first time.
 
I've finally decided to stop fighting with myself, let go of the shame, and take other measures to get it under control. I never thought I'd consider surgery because I really wanted to "do it myself." I now realize that WLS is but a tool, and that there's still a lot of hard work ahead and I will still very much be "doing it myself." I'm feeling very optimistic about the possibility of getting my life back and feeling good about myself again. I'm looking forward to making friends here, and leaning on them for some of the support I know I'll need along this journey!
