Of course you are having a life changing procedure. You got this just focus on the positive and leave all of worrying to the well educated people you have hired to do their job. I think they give you something for your anxiety. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -

BurNingBriDget replied to BurNingBriDget's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been trying to find people that are using Dr. Hodgett or has used him but I joined their Facebook page and I don't reply get a lot from that page. I am hoping that I get into surgery before the end of March just because of my kids schedule. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
If you are using your insurance to pay for it I know with mine I was required to enroll in their bariatrics program. From there I was given a nurse coordinator and a list of approved surgeons within so many miles of my house. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

What's the 1st thing
BurNingBriDget replied to Angie74's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I miss doing things. I lost 48 pounds on Adipex and while I was super happy about the loss I knew that once I went of the medication it would come back just hoped that it wouldn't be any extra. Well I did gain it back and super fast too and it was horrible. I see the person I am in my mind but when I look in the mirror it's not who I feel I am. Like I've said I struggled with my weight and basically been on some sort of diet or starving myself my whole life. I do not want to have another birthday and feel like I can't Celebrate it with pictures and excitement. This is going to be my Mother's Day and birthday gift to myself. I know big changes will happen and I adjust to changes fairly well. I want to be able to put my shoes on without being out of breath and be able to play with my kids not to mention the changes in my confidence in my outward appearance. BurNingBriDget replied to Angie74's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Omg!!! Tmi maybe but doing that with the lights on. My husband is amazing and says that he doesn't care what size I am just that I'm happy. After reading a few of these posts I have found that there are a lot of married women that don't have that and it's super duper sad. Amen to the reverse cowboy!!! Ruth1less we are so much alike. First Surgeon Appointment Coming Up
BurNingBriDget replied to mrz.mott's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have my first appointment on March 1st and I also have United Healthcare. My nurse is super nice and gave me a lit of things I have to do. Also I ready scheduled my psychological evaluation, support group attendance, and my nutrition visit will be scheduled for after I see the doctor on my first visit. Like you I have been over weight my whole life and I am ready for a change. I have had my kids and married my love and want to be proud of my life instead of hiding behind everything because of my weight. My current weight is 230 lbs but my highest was after I gave birth to my daughter and that was 260. I lost 30 lbs by essentially starving myself for months and now can only eat very little without gaining 5-10 lbs. I also have high cholesterol and horrible sciatica, trouble sleeping, plus hypothyroidism. I feel like I am a walking time bomb!!!! Please keep us posted Bridget Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -

So I'm kinda pissed! I called to let the surgeons office know that my insurance didn't cover the person I was going to see for my psychological evaluation and the girl was so rude she was like well I don't know what to tell you I was like well I finally find another doctor that's covered by my insurance and she got rude with me again I'm like is this the same doctors office I was so upset makes me want to just start the whole process over at another doctors office it's ridiculous!! And they never answer the phone after nine in the morning 30 minutes a day how are you supposed to conduct business? Mayo clinic is looking better and better Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Thanks MeFirst!! There are so many things that come up with this bariatric surgery and I just don't want to leave no stone unturned and know exactly what I'm getting into when I walk through those doors. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

My surgeons office said that The data plan with the doctor is just a formality to show that you've tried something besides surgery and it is free old I think that you lost 6 pounds is amazing so don't let it get to you. Did you do it through your bariatric surgeon or your primary care? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Oh no!!!! I really hope Dr. Hodgett is nice...bedside manners are so important especially dealing with someone who is overweight and completely vulnerable. I have talked to my husband and he said if the place doesn't feel comfortable on my first visit to go somewhere else. If you don't mind me asking where are you going for your plastic surgery? We are planning a trip to Mexico one because of his work and two I want to check out a couple of their plastic surgeons there. Most weight loss reconstructive surgeries are covered by our insurance it's ideal to do it here but I want to make the best choice in this matter. I am so sorry that you were treated so bad. I was a self pay patient when I was younger and they were always so short with what I could expect from a visit. I think people fail to realize that how you treat the actual person is just as important of how you treat their medical needs. Also how long was your surgery? How long did you stay in the hospital? How has your recovery in the hospital? Could your spouse/caretaker stay with you in your room while you were there? What would you say was the most important thing to bring with you? Yes! Glitter Eyes you can find me on Facebook and we can link up there. I'm still figuring out this site. I am having the surgery first then my husband is going to do it. I would love to meet with you and Ruth1less just to get an idea of what I'm getting into. I work for a plastic surgeon so I kinda know what the process is on that end as far documentation because my insurance does a couple of procedures that I'll need after my weight loss is at goal but I have never weighed under 150 even in the 5 grade. I am looking forward to the journey. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Oh I didn't think it could be that fast! I'm really excited about this new tool for weight loss. Where are all of you from? If so, what should I bring with me to the day of surgery? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I've had my gallbladder removed and I do have a history of kidney stones will that hinder me from having the surgery?
