I believe you and the band together can accomplish it if you do everything your dr. tells you to do. I really feel bad for your brother & his situation. That sucks. I hope he gets it all worked out so he can continue to get his fills because without them...well you just keep eating & stretch everything out. You don't want that. Good luck, you'll do great!

It sounds like to me that you're on track. I had my surgery on Halloween & I've lost 32 lbs.

A thread for Single Bandsters

Manatee, it kind of sounds like to me that your "ex" just wanted to rub it in that she is with someone else again. I hate gloaters...unless it's about football, but I know exactly how you feel. I've been divorced since 1994 & when my ex "called me up" to tell me he was remarrying I knew what his motive was & I just said to him, "Well good for you, I hope it works out for you this time!!" Then 2 years later (now we have a daughter together so it's not like we weren't still in each other's lives anyway...so) he calls me up again & wants to "meet for dinner" only to get there & him tell me his wife is pregnant!!! What? Why do I care? He just intentionally wanted to hurt me is all it was. So tell your ex, good luck, goodbye, (unless y'all too have kids, because then it's not so easy), and get on with your life. How long have you been divorced anyway? It may be hard now, but with your new life, new weight (congrats by the way...that's awesome), I'm sure you won't be alone forever. I'm single, have never remarried, haven't found the right guy, hopefully someday I will, because who doesn't love being loved right??? Anyway, hang in there, and oh yeah, tell her sternly, not ugly, but stern, that you WILL NOT be attending the wedding should she be arrogant enough to invite you. If you'd like to talk to someone who is experienced in an arrogant ex, send me a pm, I'm sure we have a lot in common. We are the same age I noticed. Where are you from? I live in Texas. -
Well that sucks! 24 is one of my very favorite shows. I love me some Keifer. Well thank God at least the strike is over now.

OK...I'm thinking about doing the same thing. I know it's going to hurt like hell, so my question is what are the costs like? Do they vary from place to place or are they pretty much the same everywhere?

AI & The Biggest Loser are great shows. I am a reality show addict. Although I don't watch ALL of them, I watch a lot of them. Yes, whoever doesn't have the DVR or TIVO, get it, it's worth it. However, I am super ready for the writer's strike to end so I can get on with my other non-reality shows as well, like Lost, Ugly Betty & 24 for starters.

Well, most everyone's post on here regarding this is different than mine. I had both my sister & my daughter staying with me & I'm sooooo glad they were there. I couldn't get in & out of the bed or my chair by myself. It hurt too much for me, but truthfully, I'm a weenie when it comes to pain so...I also couldn't drive for a solid week & even after that it was sore for me to go over bumps & potholes & such. The bottom line for me was I couldn't have done it alone. The first couple of days, I slept a lot, but I needed people to go to the store for me, get things out of the kitchen for me, etc...just because it was less painful than getting up & doing it myself. Now my Dr. did tell me no stair climbing, but to make sure I did at least a little bit of walking everyday, so I went to the mailbox & back everyday by myself, but I was pretty much helpless for the entire first week. I hope you can find somebody to be there for you. Good luck! -

Oct 07 Bandsters - how are you doing?

That's awesome! I was banded on Halloween & today I hit my 30lb mark. I was so happy. I am new to this online support thing, but I see from other people's weight loss that it varies for each individual. However, I do not think that I'm getting as much protein on a daily basis as I should be. I saw your remarks about your restriction being only in the mornings, (me too), and that you complete the rest of your day with mostly protein. Can you tell me some of the things you're eating so I can get some kind of idea of other things to add to my diet? Congrats again on your loss, I hope to speed up a little more, I've only had one fill though since surgery & go back for the 2nd on the 27th of this month so...I guess we'll see. -
Yes, I would do again in a heartbeat. I wish I had done it sooner. I've wasted so many years being over-weight.

I live in Mansfield, which is South of the D/FW metroplex. I was banded on Halloween 2007. I started @ 251 lbs., and I've lost 29 lbs., putting me at 222. My goal is 130, so 92 lbs. to go. I was banded by Dr. Richard Carter in Arlington. He is wonderful with such a caring personality. He also had to remove a hiatal hernia that was found during my lap-band surgery. Whew! Thank God he found it. It would depend on where y'all meet up as to wether or not I could attend. I work in North Irving, North of D/FW airport between 114 & 635. However, if I can't make it to meet up with y'all, I can still chat online. I'm very new to this online support group thing, and just joined this forum today. Anyway, I'm interested in chatting with new people, and hearing others experiences. So far, mine has been pretty good. I just had my first fill on 1/30/08, and it hurt!!!! I go back on 2/27/08 for my 2nd one. I'm looking so forward to getting on with my life as a healthy person again (I haven't always had this problem), because I was starting to have some concerns on my health is what prompted me to do this, and I'm so glad I did.
