  1. Yes, I think we all go through that phase. I was terrified the day before my surgery, but all turned out fine. I was banded on Halloween 07 & have lost 35 lbs to date, (oops I need to change my ticker don't I?). I'm very pleased that I did it, and would not change a thing. It'll be tough at first, but you can do it. We're all here for you.

    Where do you live?

I live in Mansfield, Texas. Born & raised. I have moved away a few times, but always came back.

What kind of TV shows do you watch?

Hey Gibson...Do not feel guilty. There are a lot of us t.v. show junkies out here. HA!!! I love Idol, Biggest Loser, The Bachelor, Survivor, Amazing Race, 24, Ugly Betty, Lost, and Days of Our Lives!!! Yep, still a soap opera person, but that's the only soap I watch. Have watched it for 27 years. Good grief, I know there are more but can't think of them right now.

    American Idol '08

ABSOLUTELY!!!! The guys are totally awesome. Luke's was kind of so so, & Chikezies (sp???) was so so, but the rest of them knocked it out I thought. Especially David Castro!!!! He was the best of the night in my opinion. That version of that song should be redone with him singing it, it would be a major hit all over again. I know I'd buy it just for that song. He's soooo adorable too. Michael is my all around fav though & David Archuletto. That kid is a gift to the music world no doubt!!! And about the sweetest boy I've ever seen!!!!!! A guy is going to win this competition this season, the girls may as well go ahead & get over it.

Anyone had alcohol since being banded?

I was banded on Halloween 07, and I went out on New Year's Eve, and I went out again in the middle of February. Drank both times, and did shots, and I was fine. I'd say not a lot though because yes, the weight loss causes one to have a lower tolerance level & some less than others. I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but my tolerance is high enough where I didn't notice a HUGE difference but I noticed some. Plus it is the only time I've had any carbonation since surgery, and it'll be the only time I have carbonation period. Plus I don't know for sure, but my mixed drinks consists of 7-up & while I understand it's still carbonated, is it as bad as other carbonated drinks???? HHHMMM, I do not know for sure. Anyway, just monitor yourself, only you can feel what your limits will be.

    Hi-o from Ohio!

Hey Bob. You bet. How ironic because before I answered this, I'd answered the last PM you sent me & had said the same thing to you about the e-mails. So send me yours in a PM & I'll send you mine by e-mailing you. Thanks for the kind words about my career. I'm pretty proud of it myself, and I do enjoy it thoroughly. It is very complicated at times, and stressful, but I love being challenged, which is why I went into that field in the first place. Yes, without sounding vain, I like to think of myself as pretty smart. You've got to have a lot of common sense to do what I do. Plus roll with the flow of all the law changes, and we're global so...we deal with ALL of the issues in this country, every single state & some of Canada. I have to do research on all of the different state laws to be able to answer questions for our customers. Anyway, enough of that. It was one of my doggies that had to go to the vet. He had to get his sutures removed. He had a non-malignant tumor that grew on his forehead that had to be removed. All is good with him. He's my baby, and I know people shouldn't pick favorites with their animals no more than they should with their kids, but he is my favorite...just a little bit. He's a 3 year old chinese pug named Bandit. I have a 9 1/2 year old Norweigan Elkhound named Wally & a 14 year old domestic shorthair cat named Lyla. Yeah, they get treated better than anybody in the house. HA!! They've had food before when we didn't. They're rotten to the core, but especially my Pug. He is one big mess! Yes, had to experience the whole putting a beloved family pet down with my sister 2 years ago. We had to put her 16 year old Cocker Spaniel down. She & I cried for days. It was one of the worst days of my life too. I can't even imagine what I'll do when one of mine now goes. I've had them all since they were babies. Anywho, send me your e-mail & I'll send you mine...Ha, that sounded funny! Take care.

    Hi-o from Ohio!

Hey....hope you're having a great day. Mine is a little better today than the other days have been this week. It has certainly been a very emotional week for me. You know how us cancers are right? HA!! Yes, y'alls weather has been a pain in the a*$ lately hasn't it? It is almost 80 degrees here today, but look out, not supposed to get above 50 tomorrow. Oh boy, are we gonna start talking about movies now? Like I said, I'm a junkie when it comes to t.v. & movies. I own over 260 titles (crazy I know, I have to actually keep a list so I can keep up with what I have), but I don't have much of a social life either so....with that said, Jerry McGuire is one of them that I own. I love both Sly & Arnold. Have all the Rocky moives, have all the Terminator movies, and many more. I love action, romance, drama, true stories, some horror flicks, mob movies, all of them basically. I can't think of one genre that I don't like. Hell I even still like cartoons & Disney movies. I love Harry Potter, have all of those. I looooooove the Die Hard movies, have all of those. I could go on with this stuff all day long! Really I could. HA!! The t.v. shows I have on DVD are all 10 seasons of "Friends" (best show ever) and "Golden Girls" but I'm still collecting on that one. Only have the first 2 seasons. Yes, send me a picture of your car, I'd like to see it. I bet it is pretty cool. Too bad I can't take a ride in it. I wish I had an old 63' candy apple red vet myself. I love my job actually. Very challenging, and never a dull moment that's for sure. I actually have a legal background that goes all the way back to 1995 in Houston. I went to school to be a paralegal & I became one working for lawyers & state agencies for the next 10 years after that. I love it! However, my legal background consisted of working for a property tax lawyer, and I have been dealing with that type of law ever since really. Currently I work for Citigroup as a Senior Tax Representative/Operations Control Specialist III, in our property tax department. I deal with all property tax issues regarding all sorts of leased equipment ranging from medical equipment to construction equipment. And because of my legal background, I handle all litigation issues that arise with our leased equipment. I've been here @ Citi for a little over a year now & I love it. While I live in Mansfield, I work in North Irving...about a 37 mile drive & in traffic it's a bi*$!. Yes, thank God it's Friday, I'm sooo glad it is. I have to get up though early in the morning (on a Saturday....stinks...) to take one of my babies (my animals) to the vet to get his stiches out. So I'm gonna try & get some decent sleep tonight, which I haven't been doing this week. Hope your day was good. Bye for now, talk to ya later.:tt2:

    Hi-o from Ohio!

AAAWWW...not fond of the Colts?? I love the Colts. My sister's 2nd favorite team, with the Cowboys being first of course. She lived in Tennessee when Peyton was a Tennessee Volunteer, she has been following him ever since, and has made me a fan too. I love the 79 degree weather...IF IT'D JUST STAY THAT WAY. Not 79 one day & 45 the next. It's a wonder we don't all kill over from pnuemonia down here! HA!! We don't have seasons, we have 2 kinds of weather, cold & very hot. I'd rather be cold any day of the week, because you can always warm up. In the 110 degree summer, you can't run around naked to cool down. Well, I supposed one could, but they might get arrested! HA!! And see, y'all talk about your heating bills being so high, our cooling bills are astronomical. I live in a 2/2 duplex, and in the dead middle of summer, my electric bills run anywhere from $200 - $350 in a month. I also love John Grisham, James Patterson, Sandra Brown, Nora Roberts (Yes, I'm a romantic, along with being into suspense), and many others. Love t.v. & movies, I'm a junkie when it comes to certain shows. I love old cars too when they're fixed up and in mint condition. That's awesome that you have that Chevelle. I used to go to some car shows here & there when I lived down in Houston. You have to get up @ 5:00??? YUK!!! I love my sleep, and hate getting up early. I have about and hour to an hour 15 minute drive to work everyday (one way) and I still sleep as late as I possibly can. Are you a local truck driver or OTR? Well, you'll have to tell me how the new book turns out, because I'm always looking for a good one to read. Hope you had a good day, take care, talk at ya soon.

    Hi-o from Ohio!

Hey Bob. How's it going? OK here, but I haven't lost any weight this week so far. Today is one of my days that I have to go work out though, so maybe I'll burn up some fat & calories this evening. I'll be sticking to my workout my trainer set up for me for about 3 months total, then I'll be boosting it up. AAAWWW, both the browns & the bengals have been better over the last couple of years though. They do struggle, but doesn't every team at some point? My football hatred goes to the eagles. I DESPISE THEM! Hate them, can't stand them!!!! Of course there are a few other teams I'm not crazy about too, but I really HATE the eagles!!! Man, ya'lls weather is being tough lately isn't it? Of course, me personally, I'd rather have that any day of the week than what we get here. Hell we can't decide what season it is here most of the time. Just 2 days ago, it was 79 degrees & the very next day the high was 45. Geez! You'd think we'd be used to it, and we are, but it just gets old sometimes. You never know what to expect when you walk outside here. Well except summer time, that is the only real season we have. It's hot, hot, then it really gets hot & humid. In the summer, we're happy if it doesn't go above 97 or 98! So, you're a truck driver? My dad was one his whole life basically, (now retired, almost 78 yrs. old), had an uncle that was one for about 25 years, and one of my best friends in Houston was one (a car carrier), until he fell off the top & broke his back. I like mostly pro sports, football, (did I mention I hate the eagles?) basketball, baseball (more exciting to be there), but it's been really hard for me to get into golf. I've tried, but just can't take it. Never played, but tried to watch it on t.v. Also tried to get into tennis, a no go, racing, have many race fan friends, no there too. Would actually like to go in person to see if I can get into it any better. I've never been to a hockey game, but want to go, and will watch that on t.v., but not like my other sports. I love to bowl, love horses, used to ride, but that was long, long ago. I love motorcycles, especially harley's, love to ride, and I love to read! I really, really wish I could travel more than I get to, but, haven't won the lottery yet, but boy when I do, look out, because here I come. I'm going to go everywhere!!! Well, keep on truckin' (pun intended) with your workouts, and hope to hear from ya soon. Oh by the way...did I mention I hate the eagles? HA!!!!!

    Banded 2-21, having problems

David: I believe it's going to depend on each individual peson after they have the surgery as to how much "pain & gas" they endure. Me personally, I'm with you!!! It hurt like hell. Thought I was having a heart attack everytime I moved or coughed for the first 5 days. Yes, take your meds...that is what they're given to you for. And no, it is still too early for you to be eating any mushy foods. I found that my water was best at room temperature, and coffee helped. As someone said earlier, the band likes hot, especially first thing in the morning. I am 4 months post-op at the end of this week, and I have lost 33 lbs. so far. Do your walking, as much as you can anyway, and do your breathing excercises. It will go away soon, I promise!!!! Good luck to you, and listen to your doc o.k. We're all here for you!

    drinking with meals

It hasn't made a big difference to me. It doesn't hurt me either. I still eat only what I can eat (drinking something or not), and I'm full. And it is still much less food than I used to could eat so...I don't complain. If I was eating something though & it went down the wrong pipe & I started choking, I'm gonna have a drink of something. I just make sure it's either water or milk (full of protein).

    Hi-o from Ohio!

I will Bob, and you do the same. That's also sooo cool to know you like the cowboys. Or I'm assuming you still like them even though Roger's days are long gone. Roger is certainly one of my heroes. Along with Troy!!! Football has been in my life as far back as I can remember. Sports were instilled in me & my 2 sisters our whole lives. That's the one thing they did right? HA!!! In other words, I'm not an emotional eater for nothing. However, being from Ohio, aren't you a fan of either the browns or the bengals? I like both of those teams. Yep, the gym is pretty convenient, and nope, no excuses! I'm certainly not good enough to play pool in any leagues, but we love to play. Just another sport to us to be involved in. We've been going to this same place for over 17 years & are in good with the manager. We can really go in there & throw down partying & shooting pool. It's a blast. We go every month at the same time. Hell I should be good enough to be in tournaments, but I'm not. Ours is always just about fun. Well take care, talk to ya soon & you too keep up your good work. We'll certainly have to keep in touch on here especially once football season starts back up. WHICH I CANNOT WAIT FOR!!!!

    Hi-o from Ohio!

Thanks for the congrats Bob. It's been the best thing I've ever done. I'm excited about the end results for sure. I've already been told by many co-workers & friends how good I'm looking. Which feels great!!! The excercise is definitely a plus, and makes me feel better every time I go. I'm very, very lucky because I have access to a full blown gym at my place of work & they just deduct the cost out of my paycheck. So I can leave my desk & go workout without leaving the building. It's great! Yes, I play pool. Just played last Saturday night. I wish I had my own table at home so I could get better. I love 9 ball & 8 ball & cut-throat. Do you know that one? But as you can see from my ticker & my user name, the NFL is my favorite passion. I'm going through withdrawals since the super bowl! ha!!! I miss football more than I miss any food!!! ha! You keep up your good work too & and being positive is all part of the process. It's hard to do anything without a good attitude about it. Keep me posted on your progress. :smile2:

Oh by the way...where is West Midlands?
  18. cowboysfan

    Hello from West Midlands

It'll all be o.k. You'll do fine. I was nervous as a, well I won't say, but I was nervous too. You have a week left, use this time wisely and think about the outcome in the long run. Think about things like how great you're going feel, how great you're going to look, and how much healthier you're going to be. I am in Texas and didn't have to do the pre-op diet so I have no clue what you're going through there, but good luck on everything, and it'll all be over before you know it. Keep us posted on your progress.

Oh my gosh this sounds so good! I'm going to make it next week. The only way I ate squash before my surgery was fried!!! BAD!!!!! Thanks Georgia girl.

    Question-adults Only-strong Sexual Content

I'd think it would depend on the person. Some tastes & smells are not the same to some people that they once were. At least not to me, but being single, I haven't "experienced" that yet. But boy it sure should be fun finding out!!!!!! ha!!!!!! :tongue2:

    Single Bandsters

It has been over 10 years since I've been in a relationship, so I've been single for a long time. But it doesn't affect how I interpret relationships. It would be cool though to have that common ground with somebody special. It doesn't have to be someone with a band. I'd just like to meet somebody period.
  22. Yes. My surgery was 10/31/07 & I didn't have my first fill until 1/30/08. However, my 2nd fill was quickly scheduled for 2/27/08 so I feel he knows what he's talking about, and I really like him. Be patient, I know it's hard. But if you're not having ANY portion control, then maybe you need to tell him that. You may already have told him, but if not...do. I've lost 32 lbs. to date, and so far am very pleased with the band & the dr. Good luck! It'll get better, just hang in there.

    Hi-o from Ohio!

Hi there Bob. I am not from Ohio, but have a couple of friends there. One in Columbus & one in Coshocton. Congrats on your weight loss so far!!!!! That's very exciting. Welcome to the LBT, I am new to this also. I was banded on Halloween 2007 & so far have lost 32 lbs to date. I'm excercising 3x a week for now with intentions of eventually 5x a week. I wish you all the luck in the world on your journey, and I don't know if I speak for everyone on here, but I am thoroughly enjoying mine.

    Question about a hiatel hernia~please

Yep! Same thing here. I had a large hiatal hernia that my lap band surgeon repaired during the surgery. I had no idea it was there, but had always suffered with heartburn. Four months out & I haven't had 1 bout with heartburn. I'm so glad they found it. However, I was told (and this scared the crap out of me), that if they get large enough, and go undetected, that they have the possibility of bursting (like a balloon) and because this particular kind of hernia is so close to your heart, that if it burst, it could kill you. I'm not trying to freak anyone out, that's just what was told to me by the staff.
  25. cowboysfan

    Am I eating to much?

Well, I guess you're a happy camper huh with that super bowl win? Ha! I guess, even as much as it pains the hell out of me, I have to say congrats! I absolutley cannot pull for a division rival to win the big one. Therefore I had to pull for the Pats. Oh well, we'll get over our own hump next season, but man it's a long way to August!!! Anyway, I think your next fill will do the trick for you. If it doesn't you should inform your surgeon of the situation so he can do another one for you. Good luck, keep posting your progress. We'll continue our success during the next season & argue over football.
