I was banded March 2016. Lost at a good pace but for some reason hit a snag 5 months in and had to take some out. Battled throughout the winter with being too tight. March 2nd had ankle surgery and totally laid up for the last 3 plus months. I'm now active again but gained about 10 lbs. I'm looking for someone to help be accountable and maybe learn from each other along the way. Hope to hear from you soon!

How's it been going? I got mine March 2026 and lost 80 lbs. I've had some struggles, as everyone has, but mostly very positive. Hope things have been good for you.

What are you eating?
Skippin'69 replied to KellyCats's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi KellyCats, honestly I've been able to eat just about anything as long as I take my time, eat the proper portions, and take the right size bites. Mostly I focus on proteins, veggies, and lemon water. The nutritionist told me to try and stay around 1200 calories a day. Some days that's what I do, some days it less, some a little more. As for exercise I do treadmill, bike, weights, basketball with the kids, swim, etc. It is so nice to have lost the weight and be able to do all these things. Hope you have all the success in the world! -
Congrats! It's amazing the things I don't even miss anymore. I've lost 80 lbs and what I've gained from life is so much more than what I gave up. You will be great!

I am less than a week away from having my band and going through my liquid diet I'm feeling so tired and stressed. I'm starting to worry that there will be so little that I can eat once this is done. I know moderation and that every person is different. So, what are some things I need to know that I will and will not be able to have? I know it's just nerves and the strange way I feel right now on just shakes. Please advise. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

2 days on the other side and things are going pretty good. On the day of surgery I had the worst case of dry mouth EVER! I felt good other than that but it might be because I kept up on my pain meds. My 1st full day was good except for lots of gas. It was bad trying to get it out any way I could. Finally felt better when I got up this morning. I've been able to drink lots of water every since coming out of surgery so no problem there. Took my first shower today and took bandages off incisions. I know there is a long way to go but feeling better about it every day. I'm well over 25lbs down since starting liquid pre-diet a week and a half ago. I can see it in my face and the way my clothes fit. Excited but still a little nervous. Still surprises me that I put something in my body. To be continued.... Self sabotage and failings
Skippin'69 replied to change4life's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How much are the fills? Does insurance generally pay for them? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
@TheProfessor... Breads of all kinds, Pasta, pizza, noodles, rice are absolutely my love! Having that great big mouthful is something I've grown to think is satisfying or a comfort. But, not wearing certain clothes, hurting when I walk let alone when I exercise, not sleeping well even with a CPAP is not satisfying at all. We have 6 kids ranging from 22-12 and sports are a major part of our life. I want to be active and play with them and the grandkids that will come along. Thank you for your support and congrats on your achievements. Knowing that I'm worrying so much about something that should be such a little part of who I am or my life makes me realize how dependent I've become. No longer will I be the slave to those thoughts and worries about where, when, and how much food I will get. Thanks again and good luck to your future success! Thx , everyone. I have a close friend who has given some guidance. He says the same and is still able to eat all kinds of foods. My wife and I had a really good talk last night and I'm feeling a lot better. 6 more days until my procedure and I am excited to get this done. The health benefits are so worth it. Liquid diet day 2-STRUGGLING
Skippin'69 replied to tiffanymarie6997's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was kinda lucky that when my insurance approved me there was an opening for surgery less than 2 weeks away. I went for my pre-op visit Monday and started my liquid diet that night. I will be banded on next Tuesday. Liquid diet for only a week won't be too bad. Add in the 2 was or so post op and I will be fine. Just remember, for every minute, hour, and day you are on the liquid diet, you are that much closer to eating again. Stay positive even though it sucks. We have 5 teenage boys and there's always pizza, burgers, wings, and tacos around. I will be able to eat again soon and feel so much better for the journey! NSV: Wearing a Bikini with NO Coverup! FINALLY!
Skippin'69 replied to NewSetOfCurves's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
So many benefits of taking this journey but this one is special for all those times when we weren't able to do that. Congrats! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I work in a factory and scheduled for my ban on April 12th. I'm supposed to work nights on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Switching from days to nights is hard on the body not to mention just having the procedure 5 days before. I would like some thoughts on taking vacation that weekend? I will be stuck to a computer for 12 hrs each day but with some of the things I've read I may not even want to be there. I have plenty of vacation so it's not a problem but don't want to use it if I don't have too. Thoughts? Thx Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

It took me about a week. I just got my approval today so I will schedule tomorrow and hopefully done in a few weeks. At least that's what they told me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Anyone go home day of surgery?
Skippin'69 replied to Stacey78's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't do well with anesthesia so this should be fun. Mine is outpatient and supposed to go home but after reading these posts not sure. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I'm going to disagree about us being cheaters. Wasn't I cheated when I wasn't born with great genes? Wasn't I cheated when I didn't have parents that didn't teach me how to eat and exercise properly at a young age? Wasn't I cheated when we have six kids and no time to dedicate hrs to gyms when I'm at ball games, lessons, and organizations? Heck no! Some people have great genes, really good lessons from an early age, and the time and money to go to gyms and high priced health foods. This is a tool for us to use its not a wand. We still have to put the work in and learn. Healthy lives aren't given just because we get banned. We still have to learn and WORK!!! We are not CHEATERS! I did a shake diet a couple years and lost a lot but insurance problems gave me the excuse to quit. So now I'm 30 lbs bigger than what I started at back then and so ready for the insurance approval and band. Come on already!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm waiting approval from my insurance but so stinking ready. I ate too much again but kinda used the excuse that it was last big holiday to splurge. Exactly why I'm getting this done. Too many excuses! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I haven't told anyone other than my wife. I don't really want to hear it either until I show everyone that it works and then let the cat out. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hi jmc534, I too am in the process of having surgery. I am so ready. At first I worried but lately I've gone through a bad cycle of over eating that it has wiped all doubt away. Everything has been submitted to insurance and waiting for approval. I'm just so ready to get started. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
