  1. Happy 45th Birthday stilljackson!

  2. After considering this surgery for a year... starting the insurance process last year...getting pregnant...having a baby...starting the process ALL over again... I finally have my surgery date! My surgery date is 8/3/09 so...why the heck am I getting nervous now? Haven't I had almost 2 years to thinkand pray about this? I know the surgery can't be any worse than a C-section can it? Just need a little encouragement!:cool2:

Hello to All, I haven't posted in ages!! Pray all is well with everyone. Just wanted to share... Dr. Don Colbert (you may have seen him on Joyce Meyer etc.) came to my church in Detroit last week. He ministered on health and food addictions. The main thing that stuck in my heart was John 14:16 & 26. He talked about the Holy Spirit being our COMFORTER!! Why do we/I always use food as comfort instead of the HOLY GHOST???!!! He is our COMFORTER and is not fatteneing or unhealthy:smile:! I am going to purpose to do this in my life and I hope this little tidbit encourages, uplifts, and edifies you as well!!! Peace & Blessings! PS. Still haven't been banded... in insurance waiting period (limbo). Went to the Dr. last week and had lost 5 lbs! The nurse to me to "STOP IT!" Thats the first time in my life someone told me to stop losing weight! Isn't that hilarious?!!?

    For those with BMI 35-40?

Hi ronwifey! Your dilemma is exactly why I have decided I am not telling anyone except my husband and a few close friends. Unfortunately, you can't tell everyone everything even if they are your best friend. My BMI is 40 and people say I don't look like I weigh 250 but it's only because of the way I am shaped... small upper body, smaller waist but a giagantic butt! (LOL) For me it's not just about how I look... both my parents are diabetic mom is overweight dad is not so for me it's a health issue. I cannot join weight watchers NOT one more time. I have done it like I swear 20 times in the last 15 years. Also, I cannot take diet pills forever talk about unhealthy so for me this will be another tool to get healthy. So my point is do what you feel you have to do. It's your body and it's between you and (if you believe in him) GOD! Best Wishes!

    Siily Question!(Fiber)

I have not yet been banded but am curious... If you can't eat alot of fiber/bread etc. how do you keep from being constipated? I remember doing Atkins and being so very constipated! Can you take laxatives? What do you do?

Hi Candy, Thanks for responding! My insurance does cover it. I have to have a BMI over 40 (40), have documented proof I've been trying to lose for 1 year (have been trying to lose for 25 years LOL), a Psy. Eval.(have never had one what's up with that?) and have a $1000 co-pay ( Phil. 4:19) So, just believing GOD that I will be approved within a reasonable amount of time with no drama/appeals etc.! I live in MIchigan and have Health Alliance Plan. Peace & Blessings!

I am soooo happy to have found this thread!!! I have not yet been banded. I have been just gathering info. and praying for wisdom! I love the spiritual insight you guys have been giving as I read the different posts!!! I had been sort of flip flopping trying to decide if this is what I should do before I found this thread!! I was feeling like if I get the LBS, I would not be honoring GOD I should just be able to exercise and have self-control! Now I realize this surgery is just another tool! It's kinda like when I had my son my friend asked me if I felt bad/less spiritual that I had a C-Section. I told her "NO" that I was thankful that GOD had allowed man the insight to know how to get babies out another way! I told her that if I lived in the past before C-sections I probably would have died in childbirth like so many other women back then. I am going to look at this LBS in the same way. God has provided another way for me to be healthy and I am going to be thankful and take it!! Pray for me in this journey of insurance approval, selecting a doctor etc. Blessings to you all, I look forward to hearing, sharing with my family in Christ!
