    Bandster Hell AND Surgeon Hell

Time for a new surgeon! One who knows how to treat a patient. "What do they called the student who finished last in medical school? .... DR."
  3. I had that happen too. My Dr. suggested Liquid Motrin. It did that trick, and I was feeling better in a couple of hours.

    Banded 10/26/2007

Don't be disappointed, you don't have that much to lose so it will be slow going. Just think in six more months you should be at goal!!!
  5. I went directly from Dr. office (my stomach was growling during exam) to Taco Bell for pintos and cheese on my Dr.'s advise. Yummo!! I only was able to eat half, seemed like the best beans ever.

    16lbs shy of losing 200

You look fabulous, Darling!!! You give us hope! Congrats!!
  7. I scheduled a endoscopy in two weeks and later thought if the lapband will be an issue. Dr. and I discussed my band but I didn't ask enough questions. How does the scope get thru the band? Anybody out there know the answer?

    I am now banded

How chicken is that to break up with you by text! Who needs a guy like that. Best revenge: concenrate on getting healthy, lose the weight and get a great new guy in your life or several new guys in your life and forget that loser. Hold your head high and don't even bother to call him any more. You know he and new woman are getting laugh at your calls. You need this time alone to get to know the new you that you are going to become. He will probably want you back when you lose the weight and you will be the one to turn him down because you know you can do better than that loser. Good luck with your band and new life!!
  9. Great job - you look fabulous. Did you know you were so pretty?

    Please Help!

My dr. didn't have me on any kind of diet pre-surgery. But I would call your Dr. just to be sure. Good Luck on your surgery.

    just beginning

Hi! I was banded on 3-25-08 and have lost 30 lbs.. I feel I should have lost more by this time, but my night time snacking is messing me up. I have vowed to myself to get serious and knock off the night eating. How are you feeling about your weight loss so far? I am not totally disappointed cuz I can't remember the last time I was able to lose 30 lbs.
  12. Sounds weird but I going to give it a try. Love the cheese idea. Haven't found a cheese that I don't like!!

    I need some reassurance

I would delay the surgery. I know I certainly wasn't ready to travel a week after surgery. I would want to enjoy my vacation, you may end up out of country and have a medical emergency. I had just a little bit of pain after surgery but I really tired easily. Postponing surgery for a month or so won't really matter so much when you are a year or so out.
  14. I had the same thing happen when I started ab work at eight weeks post surgery. I was in more pain than right after surgery. I ended up calling Dr. after a week of suffering. His nurse recommended liquid Motrin (all I could find was children's Motrin) and to ease up on ab. exercises. I was in no pain after 3 doses.
  15. Hi! My surgery was on 3-25-08. I spent one night at the hospital and was released around 2:30 the day after surgery. I can honestly say that there wasn't much pain from surgery. (had more pain from too much ab work too soon) I have lost 23 lbs. so far, seeing Dr. Higa tomorrow. I don't think I need a fill yet. Dr. Higa puts some saline into the band at surgery. I can honestly say I haven't been hungary. Like this morning I had a one egg omelet at 7:30, it's now 11 and I'm not hungary. I usually have a snack around 10:30 but haven't had time today. Think my weight lose so been slow because I have only been eating around 700 to 800 calories. I will talk to Dr. about that tomorrow. Funny you would think the lower the calories the more you could lose. I have been reading here about not eating enough and it slows you down. I never went thru the bandster hell that alot of other people talk about. Dr. Higa usually gives 4 weeks off from work to recover, but I really could have come back sooner. Good luck to you and if you have any other questions feel free to contact me again. Oh, yeah you may have doubts about going thru with the surgery but I think we have all gone thru that. Do you live in Fresno? Think Dr. Higa is a good choice. I know four others who have had surgery by him. (Gastric Bypass).

    Surgery Date

Michelle- I think we all go thru this at this stage. I wanted the surgery so bad but as the time got closer and closer the more scared I got. We all have doubts about maybe never being able to eat our favorite foods again, or have a drink or a coke. Or worst yet, what if it doesn't work for me. All my friends and family will be know I failed again. Well, I decided just one more try and went for it. I am sooo glad I did. I am down 20 lbs. in six weeks. I haven't thrown up to date (another big fear) but my band lets me know in a big way if I have eaten too much or too fast. Hang in there Michelle!!! My only regret is that I didn't have the surgery years ago! I had doubts up to the time I was being wheeled into the surgery room. Good Luck!!

    Just Banded

My Dr. gives everyone 30 days off - even for sedentary jobs. I took my 30 days - you need to rest after surgery. I could have gone back after 3 weeks but wanted to relax at home for another week. I am back at work now and am still having some pain after sitting all day.

Squeezing Surgery into a Busy Schedule

I had my surgery on 3-25-08 and today is the first day I got out of bed and felt really good. I have been to the store shopping and out visiting friends but just don't have the energy for a full day of activities. I need to rest by mid-afternoon. I know I am not ready to go back to work on Monday. I did have some additional surgery with lap band. My Dr. ended up removing my gallbladder and repairing a hiatal hernia. I was very surprised about both. One night in the hospital but I needed to get to my own bed to rest. I don't know if the additional work will slow down my recovery. What I do know is that I am ready for something besides clear liquids. On the up side I was 14 lbs. down from the day of surgery this am. Makes me smile, however, I know most of it is just fluid which could find me again at any time.

    Banded 03/03...

I haven't had my surgery yet but I was wondering if the protein waters (Special K) would help with the hunger while in clear liquids phase. I have been watching the boards and picking up lots of good info from you veterns out there!! Thanks

    getting banded on March 19th

Hi! I am getting banded on 3-25-08. Lucky for me, my Dr. doesn't require a pre-op diet. I'm dreading the first month after the surgery but I know it's going to worth it all. I have had my doubts but last night a friend come by and took pictures of us --- now I am sure about the surgery. Why did I wait so long.
  25. I just received my approval from insurance and have scheduled surgery on 3-215-08. Anybody out there who has been banded by Dr. Higa in Fresno, Ca.? Can't wait!!!:smile2:
