My dietitian said tiny bit of potatoes on soft food but no more than twice a week. No rice, grains or bread till you have lost 75% of projected weight loss. I know they are all different. We all have our own doctor and dietitian to follow their guidelines. Still interesting to see how much they vary.

My surgeon said not for a year. It could damage the stomach.

I am sure it is difficult. I just keep thinking about a phrase that Weight Watchers said. Nothing tastes as good as thin feels. Drink water and ignore..ignore. Ya I know easier said then done. I have to tell myself those are the things that got me into this calorie overloaded body that I am trying to change. It really is a temporary pleasure for a lifetime of regrets! Good luck. You can do this. You are a strong woman wanting to make healthy changes!!!!

Qwalla replied to judy vsg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After surgery dr said I might have loose stools. Not me just the opposite. I was told to take a colace in the morning and one at night. It took a couple days and all is good now. Good luck that isn't much fun. -
Yes i do have post op meal plan. Pretty much 4 times a day 4 ounces of Protein drink mixed with skim or 1% milk. 2 broth or sodium 4 oz daily. Must get 64 ounces of liquid in each day. I can have pureed chilli or bean or pea Soup for the sodium. I do thid for 3 weeks. Then on to mushy getting in my required protein daily for 3 weeks. I have charts marking off all those things that need returned to the doctor for the 6 weeks. Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App

I have a whole folder of various things. I went to required numerous classes also. I have a page of example mesls for the stage of diet that I am on. Such as full liquid...mushy...then somewhat regular diet with restrictions. I cant have grains, Pasta, bread until i have lost 75% of my projected weight loss. Not many gray areas with my doctor. I like how it is layed out and leaves me few questions. They are very helpful to their patients. Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App

Oh my a bit over two weeks from my sleeve. Yes it is a full time job getting in liquid, vitamins, and protein drinks. I didn't think it would be so difficult and time consuming. You just have to keep your eye on the prize. Yes belching is a part of the process. Especially that first week. It does get better it is still a challenge for me. I signed up for this so I am going to do the best possible job to be everything I want it to be. We all are unique and different how our body handles everything. One thing I have learned from this site you will see every opinion in the world as well as experiences. Also every surgeon and dietitian has their own rules. Best to follow what they tell you. It is good to hear from everyone else but we should all follow our docs advice. I find it quite entertaining seeing what everyone else does. It just shows how different we all are. Any serious questions should be directed at your physician. Lol. Hope you have a great day and have faith in the process. That is what I have heard anyway. Lots of nice people on here for encouragment and chats. -
Thanks for your post. I think I could do one protein shake a day...but 4 is just getting to me. I will continue to do whatever I have to do so I can be successful! Thanks for your help!!!

Thanks. My doc doesnt want me on iron. I was on it till surgery. He has me holding it for now. Go back to him in 3 weeks. -
Really try to sip sip sip to get your liquids in. You dont want to end up dehydrated in the hospital. My stomach felt sooo full it was hard to do. I did it but it wasnt easy. Yes my tummy did hurt fir awhile. I found Water tiny sips often helped me get the amount in I was supposed to get. It was a challenge for a few days. It just takes time. I felt like it was a full time job sipping drinks. I promise it will get easier. Feel free to message me if I can help or if you need to vent. Believe me...I understand. I just keep thinking long term this will all be worth it! Good luck sweetie!! Sending healing wishes!!! Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App

Each day gets better. Hang in there. My surgery was 2 weeks ago. It is a challenge but it does improve. Hope you feel better. It was hard for me to get the required shakes and liquid down. I did it but it was a challenge. Not so bad now. Looking forward to my mushy diet in a week. Getting really tired of protein drinks 4 times a day. Lol. We will get through this!

Ideas for "mushy" foods please!
Qwalla replied to emily_0192010's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
We can have thin sliced deli meat dipped in broth or canned onion soup. Sounds good to me but cant start till next wednesday. Also deviled eggs made with light mayo and we can have low cal string cheese scrambled eggs. -
Confessions of a good girl gone bad...
Qwalla replied to justhere4theshow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
2 weeks from my sleeve surgery. I agree lots of emotions some that are just hard to explain. Lots of support from hubby but still emotional at times. I think the trauma of surgery..life style changes...wanting not to fail (again) are just a part of it. Being invited to countless bbqs parties and reunions don't help either. I try to tell myself this too shall pass and it usually does, thank goodness. Nice to know it isnt just me. Hang in there, we can do this together. Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App -

Good luck to you. We all have our own individual journeys with our own unique internal organs. We are all do different, it truly isn't fair to judge anyone for their choices. With or without surgery we all strive to be healthy and happy in our challenging journey of life. Life is a bit easier when we support each other without having to agree or disagree with their choices. Wishing a healthy happy life to all!!! Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App -
Which surgery did you choose?
Qwalla replied to jdk524's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After speaking and meeting with my surgeon he was very kind to speak to both me and my husband. He asked about my eating habits, weather I ate large quanities or more of a grazer. I wanted a surgery with least amount of risk that would be a good fit for me. He suggested that he thought the sleeve would be best for me. I believe a good surgeon will help you with that decision. 2 weeks post surgery and very happy so far with my decision. Good luck. -
Girl you are soooo much better off now. You and your daughter deserve better than that. Just concentrate on the two of you. Healing takes time. I truly believe that when you take care of you and keep the negative out of your life good things will happen. Just remember one day at a time. Lots of support here. We have all been through similiar circumstances and challenges. Keep your chin up and remember what happened doesn't have to define you. You can't control someone elses actions. Learn and grow and stay positive. When we are at our lowest is how we become our strongest. You can do this girl. Best of luck to a healthy positive life for you and your daughter. I had my sleeve two weeks ago. My surgeon doesn't do leak tests either. He has never had a problem. He dies bunches and has a great reputation. Luckily mine didn't leak. Good luck everyone. I have a little over a week on full liquid and then 3 weeks on the mushy diet foods. I can't wait. Protein drinks are getting tiresome for me. Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App -

The struggle is real and why I'm going through with it.
Qwalla replied to walkermy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can relate to that. Even my dear sweet adult children wondered the same thing. I have spent so many years on that roller coaster I need to get a better start at it. I think people (even well meaning people) that have never struggled with their weight will never understand how difficult it is for us. I just explained to them if I felt I could do this without surgery do you really think I would put myself through this? They said they understood but then how can they when they haven't walked in our shoes? I had my sleeve two weeks ago this wednesday. Good luck to you and we can and will do this and be healthier!
