Wil ldefinitely check it out- thanks for sharing. -
I haven't had my surgery but I have seen many posts like this. You're going to do just fine. Deep breaths! Your hormones are all out of whack right now. And you can remind me when I'm 7 days post op! Teena

Losing Weight Comes With Any Commute Not Done by Car
daizymom replied to James Marusek's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I haven't lost any weight but I do take transit- on days when I don't, if I do nothing else my Fitbit registers about 4000 steps. On days that I do, it registers about 6000. But you are absolutely right- it depends on where you live. And living in the country usually brings other types of physical activity- or it can anyway. -
Two fantastic Things
daizymom replied to Pedro Valle-Inclan's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I am not sure if I've ever been able to! At least not comfortably. -
I've heard other people say that it affected their marriage negatively, but in all honesty, I can't see how it would for us. @@BestDayEver I have to do what you did. I know this is right for me and for my health, and I'm sure that he will love having a healthier thinner wife. He will just have to deal with his own issues.

7 months out Roux en Y and got Pancreatitis, any relation?
daizymom replied to Madeleine Renee's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I found this study - it's slightly higher for RNY patients but not a whole lot. Good luck! I hope you have a speedy recovery. -
Decisions to make
daizymom replied to Snowbutterfly's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I don't know where @@Snowbutterfly is, but since you mentioned public health care, I know that we have it here too - I'm in Ontario- and they really don't encourage the sleeve sadly. There are cases where they will do it, but it's seen as "the lesser choice" and they will regularly tell you that RNY is the gold standard. As everyone has said- this is a decision only you can make. I'm 43 and have managed to lose weight many times. I am usually only off a diet long enough to gain back most or all of what I've lost. Sadly it never takes long. I really like what @@JamieLogical said about viewing the surgery as weight loss maintenance. I've been thinking about weightloss surgery for at least 15 years, and wish I had done it much sooner. On a side note- I had thought that I would prefer the sleeve, but since I've been dealing with heartburn most of my life and possibly GERD - just never diagnosed- it looks like it will be RNY for me. -
Anyone else use an Instant Pot or other electric pressure cooker?

I am getting one very soon! So excited about it, can't wait to try it. -
New protein powder I found
daizymom replied to LisaMergs's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Wow that sounds great! I will have to look for it after my surgery. I wonder if it's available in Canada. I could order it to my SILs house in PA and get her to bring it up for me the next time they visit. -
Vent: I'm in LAST place in the weight loss challenge! Really?
daizymom replied to Essence46's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@lifeofblair, @@SamBwaR3 is right! What a bi***!!!! It's not as if weight loss after surgery doesn't require work. Probably the same type of person that would tell you NOT to have surgery because of the people who gain their weight back. @@Essence46 I did notice that you are close to goal, so maybe you're slowing down because of that too... Are you tracking carbs as well? I'm no expert as I haven't even had surgery yet- but i have lost weight a few times (I'm really really good at gaining it back!) so please take whatever I say with a grain of salt. I have done a little research on macros, so in addition to getting Protein in, make sure you're getting healthy fats, and not too many carbs. Good luck! How long is the challenge? My money is on you! -
Looking for people who are just starting the bariatric process
daizymom replied to XxStephYxX's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@tiggerlillie I am also in Ontario.... I have my orientation at TWH on April 18th. I'm so anxious to get the process moving. I know how quickly a year goes by but I really just can't wait to be having my surgery. -
I am so excited.

Just approved for a gastric sleeve
daizymom replied to excitedforweightloss's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congratulations! My surgery is 6-12 months away. I'm in Canada so our process is longer. My husband is against it too but I'm getting it no matter what. I've been thinking about it for 12 years. Time to just do it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
You've done so well. Congrats!

I'm in Ontario and while I do love our health care , wait times can be a big drawback. I'd be so happy if mine was in 6 months but most people do have to wait a year or even longer. On the upside the surgery is 100 percent covered. Some other provinces have a waiting period of 2-3 years. Ontario is definitely one of the better ones.
-
Congratulations! Can I ask how much was pre-op and how much was post-op?

I think you were wise to postpone it. I had very little cramping and it was the BEST thing ever. I'm on my 2nd one- but I've also had 3 children. 2 of my co-workers recently had it inserted. One was in a lot of pain for about 3 days and the other also had pain but not for as long. The first girl hasn't had any children and the 2nd had 1 over 20 years ago. I think that makes a huge difference. In addition to not having to worry about birth control, I barely have to worry about my period as it's very very light.

So glad that it moves so quickly for you guys.... Mine will be anywhere from 6 months to a year from when I have my orientation on April 18th. I'm trying to be patient but it's not really working for me lol. On another note though- I called the bariatric centre to see if I could get in any sooner for my orientation, and they said there's nothing until June now- so glad mine is April.
