When is it too tight?
Hazel-eyes replied to pashee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pashee~ Can I ask what kind of band do you have and how many cc's is your fill now?? Thanks! -
have any of my age 20-something bandsters tried ali?
Hazel-eyes replied to marineliebe's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I ran out and bought the $60 Alli kit when it first came out. It was HORRIBLE. I was thinking it was going to curb my appetite, instead it caused highly abnormal bowel movements. So I have 3/4 of a bottle that I wasted....I thought Alli was going to be my big weight loss miracle or something. Instead, my band is my miracle and I will never waste $$$$$$ on dieting ever again. -

STILL have port pain
Hazel-eyes replied to reenie11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I still feel pain in my port area once in a while when I bend over or move in weird position. It's a sensitive area that takes a long time to heal. My port also sort of bulges out quite a bit....Dr. said that would go away with weight loss. What you are feeling sounds normal as far as what I've read here. Take care! -
Hi! I am glad to hear you are feeling great about your 2nd fill. I have had 1 fill so far and my second is in 2 weeks. I was discouraged when my 1st fill didn't seem to make a difference. I am hoping to be as happy as you sound when I get my 2nd fill! Good luck!

I was really freaked out by what I have read about drinking here on the forum. I started drinking a little here and there about 3 weeks after surgery. I can drink about 3 beers at a time(very slowly) and I am fine with that. I realize that that is about 300 calories but I try to make up for it in some other way.

Post-Op..do you hve any regrets?
Hazel-eyes replied to dmu's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow! That is amazing that in 8 months you have made so much progress! I am hoping to be able to run 3 miles again soon..I used to be able to about 4 years ago. Just wanted to say great job! I am almost 2 months out and I have no regrets either. I have lost 20 pounds so far and I although I am loosing at a slower pace now....I am a lot better off than I was 3 months ago. My eating habits have changed and I will be healthy in the long run because of my band. Pre-op worries are normal....I was the same way! You will be fine! Good luck. -
I use Profect protein capsules. I order them through the website. They have 25 grams of protein in a 3oz. capsule(looks like a test tube).

I really need some support !!!
Hazel-eyes replied to Linda Hamsing Rosen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been having the same problems, Linda. I am almost 2 months out and have only lost 20 pounds, and that number may be less as I think I may have gained recently. I have a 10cc band with 6 cc in it right now and I feel no restriction. I feel like I can eat whatever I want....good or bad foods, doesn't matter. I am feeling guilty for eating too much. I am making better choices but my portions are way too big for someone with a band around their stomach! I know I need another fill, but I am wondering if my band will ever work for me. My doctor did also say that I would loose slower as my BMI is lower...I hope he is right! You are not alone..I am in the same boat! -
how long after surgery did you have a drink
Hazel-eyes replied to jaylow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a drink about 2 1/2 -3 weeks after surgery.....but this was only 1 drink sipped over an hour or so. I think you would be fine with a glass of wine. Enjoy! -
Do you really have to give up caffeine completely?
Hazel-eyes replied to gingin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drink coffee most days...my nutritionist says it is ok. -
the rudeness of others
Hazel-eyes replied to Bunkey1965's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is why I did not tell anyone about my surgery. Last night I was at a party and my SIL came up to me and said "OH my gosh, what is on you face???!!!!"" and went into how there was something pink above my eyebrows and what is it, etc. I felt like I was some sort of ugly monster. Granted she is 25 and very immature, she is a teacher and should know how to act by now. Looking in a mirror a short time later, there was NOTHING on my face and I was just baffled and still can't stop thinking about how she wants me to feel BAD about myself. Can you imagine if I would had told her and the rest of my in-laws about my lap-band????? -
Linda, It was just a personal preference to not tell anyone. I have a a very judgmental family and in-laws so it is best for me to not have to deal with them in regards to this. Of course my PCP referred me for the surgery so he knows. I also told a nurse pract. at my OBGYN's office and she replied with "are you sure you want to do that?" My reply was simply "YES" and I left it at that. Her voice sounded doubtful and so I did not want to discuss it with her. Since then I have told my neighbor who had GB with my surgeon and I know I can count on her for support and to trust her to not tell anyone. It has worked out very good for me, there is no need for anyone else to know about a medical decision that I made to better my health. Best wishes.

Do I dare have a drink
Hazel-eyes replied to needtolose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is interesting, I never looked at it that way. However, I don't see why one or two drinks at a time would be harmful. -
diet disaster since Easter
Hazel-eyes replied to olgi330's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same here.....I am supposed to be on all mushies but I have had small pieces of chicken and some other forbidden foods lately. I scare myself sometimes thinking about what I know I could possibly eat. In return, my weight loss has slowed down. I know I just need to be patient and wait for the fill but it's so hard because I am feeling like a normal person again. My husband watches to make sure I am only eating mushies. I am definitely in "bandster hell.":cursing: -
Heading out to the store to buy everything I need to make this.....I can hardly wait. Thanks Georgia girl!!!!

not filled yet and eating everything i can.. 2 weeks post OP anyone with same issue??
Hazel-eyes replied to viviananna's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just read through this thread and I'm in the same position. I am starving and wanting some real food and I need my fill to come quickly. I go on 4/22 for the first fill. I lost a lot of weight at first, but it has slowed down since I can tolerate just about anything I eat. I'm being careful and trying to stick to mushies, but some days I need a piece of chicken or something to get by. I have 3 weeks to go until my fill...I hope it goes fast! -

Have you tried Special K protein water?
Hazel-eyes replied to glorybee123's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am drinkng the Strawberry Lemonade right now during my full liquid stage and I am loving it! I am using the powder mix w/ bottled H2O. I like it so much better than Crystal Light, plus you get the added protein! -
I would like a cook book too! Please let me know how I can help out with this effort.

Creamy mashed potatoes in liquid stage?
Hazel-eyes replied to Hazel-eyes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on full liquids. I am doing yogurt smoothies, yougurt, slimfast, sugar-free pudding....and that's about it. I thought I read about someone doing really liquidy mashed potatoes to help get through this stage. I guess I am getting bored and hungry and need suggestions. Thanks! -
Well the big day is 1 month from today! Anyone else?

24 hours post banding
Hazel-eyes replied to jocarojo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am venturing out to work tomorrow for a meeting that is 1 hour long. That is about all I think I can handle. I actually work part time as a researcher and can make my own hours. I am basically a SAHM with 2 boys. I don't think I could go to work for a full day tomorrow...I would type up the sub plans and give yourself a rest! Also I was told no bra with underwire for a while...I am wearing a very stretchy & cozy sports bra, my one incision is right on my bra line...ouch!
