    Anyone feel like me?

I kind of wish I can just fast forward a month or so and feel normal. I spent some time reading my nutritional, packet this afternoon (which I have previously read before..multiple times) and am thinking what the hell did I do this for - is seems so restrictive forever. I don't think it helps that my wife and kids are not super compassionate about the whole scenario. One day at a time I guess. Thanks for the positive comments Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    1 day post op

I had my surgery on 11/8 at noon, so today is 3 day post op and I have moved on from all Clear liquids to some Proteins. Honestly I feel like the pain was less than that of the band, I specifically remember having trouble getting in and out of bed. However, the pain in my belly is like a combination of gas pain, pain and nausea. It's better today, although I get these cramps and pains after slowing sipping some liquids. I did have what was called a "tap" which is probably the nerve block. Just thinking positive - each day will get better. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

  5. I go tomorrow as well. Good luck! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  6. Hi All, I am just curious who the oldest sleever is on here, meaning how far out are you? How long have you had your sleeve? Scheduled for next week and feeling anxious.... had the band 10 years ago and now on to this. I should stop reading on here, some of the negative side effects like strictures are making me nervous. 7. He did my band back in 2008, I'm scheduled for the sleeve this month. I think he is great!
  8. Hi All, I am all set for my sleeve surgery on November 8th. I have mixed emotions, I am excited and also nervous. I had the band back in 2008, had my ups and downs, gained and lost, not different than i have been my entire life. Finally had it out because my body started to rejected it. At that time my doctor suggested the sleeve and I said no, I don't want another surgery, I want to so this on my own. Well, a year later and a lot heavier here I am. I am nervous, I am sure recovery will be tougher, I am almost 10 years older.. I probably read too much and definitely stress too much, from what I see on here most folks say this was the best decision of their life. Guess I thought that with the band, I am a 43 year old male, had a weight issue my entire life. Getting to the point of having surgery in my mind is a last resort. I know it is only a tool, and we have to use it as such, I just feel like I failed last time and figured out a way to "eat around" the band, what is going to happen this time. I was originally scheduled to do this in September, but got ill and had to postpone (which was brutal). I am keeping the surgery quiet - only a select few know about it, which is another issue because none of them want me to have it. I think they just think i can do it, and after last time they probably don't have much faith. I am trying to remain positive - I need this to work, I want to be healthier. One thing I worry about though is the message I am sending to my children. They know about the last surgery and this upcoming one as well. One of the three has a weight issue and despite my wife and I trying to help him, I worry he will think being overweight is "OK", one day I can just have a surgery like Dad. I know, I know, I am certainly not the most positive person, especially when it comes to myself. I had a pretty crappy childhood. Anyway, all feedback is welcomed! Hope I didn't ramble too much....

The journey begins - other NJ sleevers?

Jersey in the house.... Being sleeved next week by Dr. Bertha in Florham Park. Used him for my band as well, great doctor. Good luck to all! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  10. I really hope so! Many things I read said folks can expect to lose 60-70% of their excessive weight, I am really hoping for more. I had the band for almost 10 years and didn't do so well. Really trying to stay positive about my upcoming sleeve surgery. Good luck to all,

    Breakfast Ideas

Hi Everybody - I am looking for some Breakfast ideas. I have been banded since April of 2008 and I need to mix things up a little bit. I will take as many ideas as I can get... Thanks
  12. Hi All- I had my 3rd fill last week. I notice it has made a big difference - I seem to be having trouble with everything. This morning I drank a small amount of Water to take my perscription pills and I slimed and up came some salvia. Do you think I am too tight or do I just have to adjust? I notice the mornings are espcially difficult. :w00t:

    Help -Am I too tight???

generally speaking today I am having a tough time. All day yesterday was fine - I had an issue last night because I took a bit out of something that I should not have. Although I ate it slowly, it got stuck and I slimed serveral times before I went to bed. Today things are not much better.

    OMG Sliming

This morning things were a little better - I shared an egg omelte with low fat cheese with my son. It was only one egg and he ate most of it, but is stayed down.

    OMG Sliming

Hello All - I had a fill the other day - my 3rd. Obviously this must tbe the one, because I was able to drink a good quantity of water before, now I have to be careful. Today I had a few crackers at work and OH MY GOD - I was sliming so bad. I mean I was totally drooling like a dog. I tried to keep spitting it out to avoid barfing, but I eventually did 3 times anyway - just the slime though no crackers. What the heck - if I am going to suffer like that you would think the food would come up. The sliming was never this bad - has this eveer happened to everyone else?

    Stuck at 50 lbs

I too was also stucj around the 50 mark. I decided to join the gym and start exercising a lot more. Since then, 2 things happened. I think in my mind I thought, WOW with all this exercise I can eat or (cheat) a little mor than normals so I didn't see much more weight come off, but I did lose inches for sure. I also feel much better - I am starting to see some muscles and not feel so soft.. I jst got a fill so I am hoping the combination does it fro me now. GOOD LUCK.
  17. Hey All - I have a slight concern. Today when I was out for dinner I had a small piece of bread - apparently I either didn't chew it properly or ate it too fast (I was really hungry). Anyway, it got stuck and I slimed - or what I called slimed. I go into the bathroom and cough hard and usually up comes a bunch of saliva. I noticed a tiny little bit of blood in it this time. This has happened once before and I just though maybe the italian bread irrated me and that what it was from. I have not slimed in PB'd in about 8 weeks or so, it it not a regular occurence for me as I am usually very good - I don't want you to think this happens all the time. Did this ever happen to anyone else? It was just a little blood when I spit a couple of times - nothing significant, but I was concerned where it could be coming from. Help - has anyone had this??
  18. Hello All - Please let me know what you think - often I post on here and do not get that many replies. I was banded in April 08, I lost about 50 pounds. I have had 2 fills and have 4.6 CC in my 11CC band. Now, I am not sure if I should get another fill, I want to. This is what I am thinking, I still feel like I can eat too much at one time if I eat slowly. I think I am a little confused - the more cc's you have in your band, does that mean it makes your pouch smaller? I guess in my head I just keep thinking that it makes the opening smaller and food will not pass as quickly and if I do get another fill I will be sliming like crazy again. I have definelty learned to eat much slower and my diet is better, but I still am working on making better choices. DO you think I stretched out my stomach above the band and that is why I can sometimes eat too much? Although a couple weeks ago I took all of my perscription medications with some yogurt and I couldn't keep them down - they got stuck. One of the pills was big (antibotic - strep throat). Does anyone have an ideas or thoughts for me?
  19. Hi All - SO I am a little frustrated and I really hope this works. Today I had my first fill after 4 months. I had my surgery on 04/28/08. I lost about 30 pounds in the first 6 weeks. Then it starting coming off very slow. I lost about 7-8 more pounds and then it just stopped. I had my 3 month check up and the Dr. said it was time for a fill. Now my insurance company requires you wait 90 after surgery to get the first fill. SO with that being said, it took another month to get the appointment for the fill. My Dr does it at the hospital under the flouroscope with the barium swallow. I got 2.6 cc's in my 11 cc band. I have been on liquids all day so I am not too sure if I notice a difference. I want this to work soooo badly but I feel like I have no will power. Why is that? Why do I do this to myself continually??? I just got back from vacation and I noticed I gained a few pounds. Has that happened to anyone????? I guess I deserved that - I ate everything in site. I have been pretty good with the sliming and the PB's - ony happened about 6 times. Hopefully this will work.... What does everybody else do to get their head in the game?? I could really use some tips or pointers. Thanks

    Since my first fill

Hi All - Since my first fill a little over a week ago I am having a problem. At first I thought that I really didn't have any restriction - I try really hard to chew chew chew and take small bites. As long as I eat very small amounts of one thing I am fine. If I try to have meal with multiple things it bothers me...I don't PB the food, I just slime like crazy until I cough it up - this happened 3 times now. No Food, just my saliva. I have PB'd before so I think I know what that is like - it only happened 2 in the begining because I ate to fast. DId this happen to anyone else? It really isn't consistent though - I have been trying to look for a pattern and the only thing I can come up with is this happens when I eat more than 2-3 things together. Any thoughts?

First fill after 4 months (frustrated)

I guess maybe I had some kind of restriction if I had PB & Sliming??

    Hello and help...

Hi There - I am also in NJ..... The protein shakes didn't work for me - they upset my stomach. I don't remember how much water I drank in a day, but I do know that I did takes sips of water and crystal light all throughout the day. It does add up. If you are worried just call your doctor - they are pretty supportive.

    My biggest concern is....

I think for the most part I feel normal. I mean other than feeling for my port and knowing it is there things are the same. I had my first fill today after 4 months and when he was checking it under the fluoroscope it was really the first time that I felt that the band was in me and that was because he filled it up to make sure it was sitting in the right spot. My eating habits are different - but I want those to be different and for me, they still have a ways to go. Old habits are hard to break and I have to keep working at it.

    Weird Question

Hi ALL - I have a weird question. Has anyone had trouble sleeping since they had the band put in? I have been having so many bizarre dreams since the band - these dreams keep waking me up. They are all different and it is not a re-occurrung dream about the band or anything. I was always a dreamer - but it never bothered my REM sleep. I have been so tired lately and I know I am getting the proper nutrition and rest so what's up?? The only pattern that I see is this all started after I had my surergy (which was on April 29th). Anyone else have this issue?
