I called my insurance they told me there requirements is a doctors recommendation. They didn’t say anything on diet/weight/bmi. Just it must be recommended by a doctor. I have an appointment soon to talk to my doctor. Is there anything else I should know or say? I Don’t have diabetes/sleep apnea or weight related asthma issues. I do have stage 3 hidradenitis & acid reflex issues my BMI is 38. Is a 38 BMI too low? My old insurance require an over 40 bmi. with me having a chronic disease like HS I’ve heard it can get better from weight loss. Not cure it but definitely get better. Could my doctor recommend weight loss surgery based off of Hidradenitis & acid reflex. Has anyone gotten approval for those reasons? Or That didn’t have the other 3 normal approval reasons?

How soon where you able to workout? (Feel comfortable working out after your surgery) Will I ever be able to weight lift kick boxing, or yoga after I’m fully healed or would that be too intense?

Does anyone go to any local support groups for people have have had wls? Have you found it helpful? What have you learned? Pros & cons?

Hidradenitis and Upcoming Surgery
Kay2016 replied to tnl1415's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pretty sure it won’t delay your surgery. As long you met whatever requirements set by insurance and dr. You should be fine. Trying taking a bleach bath...(small cup of bleach in your bath water.) it’ll disinfect your wound & dry it out. (Similar process of getting into a pool) -

Thanks. & I talked with the nurse practitioner. She had said Aetna is the worse as well. Someone got denied while prepping for surgery because while on the 2 week liquid diet they lost one pound. Smh

Does anyone have any personal experience with Aetna approving wls. (Good or bad experiences welcomed just really interested in what I have to look forward to with them) I talk with a dietician and I think nurse practitioner. Did my weigh in & all. My bmi was 39 Aetna requires it to be 40+ or 35 with other health issues(they listed 3 things they considered serious) well I have a health condition that's not listed not sure what I'll have to deal with. Or if this officially disqualifies me. The nurse practitioner acted as if it didn't. Just a bit confused. I'm a student can't afford to do self pay at the moment. Any suggestions. A bit new to this.

What insurance do you have? If you don't mind my asking?
