  1. I'm from Missouri too!
  2. I'm going on 4 weeks post op and I am having problems sleeping! I was having sensations where I just had to move my arms and legs a lot so yesterday I went to my doc to have my vitamin levels checked since I have a history of being deficient in iron, mag, and vitamin d, but everything was perfect. So I imagine it must just be some weird hormonal thing, ugh it sucks though!
  3. I had my surgery on a Monday, I came home on Tuesday 12 lbs heavier. I retained most of the IVfluids I was given in surgery and while in the hospital. By Friday I had urinated it all out then actually began losing real weight. As far as eating, 4 days out there is hardly any time for everything to heal and eating solids can put a lot of pressure on the suture lines in your pouch. I was on clear liquids only for the first 10 days post op and I know every surgeon is different with their stages, but right at first I think it is important to work through the temptation so it will all heal and hopefully the body can kind of reset its thinking about food.

    Dizziness

I have been having dizziness when standing. I checked my BP at home and it was 102/56 after walking around so I concluded it was likely from that. I had been taking Spironolactone( a water pill, not for the normal heart issues but for oily skin) so I started cutting it in half this week and it is much better. If you were on blood pressure meds they may need to be adjusted. I had my RNY 4/4/16
  5. I struggle with how I see myself in the mirror. I never saw myself being as big as I actually had become, and now that I am losing I am having a hard time seeing the changes from that. The "before "pic is really just earlier in the process and taken in December. I began my preop exercise and diet on 11/23/15. I lost 29lbs on my own before having gastric bypass on 4/4. I am down 40lbs now. At my heaviest I was 274, in the before pictures I was likely around 261. I currently am 235. At first I didn't really notice the difference but I am now starting to the more I look at it. It may not be much, but it is the least I have weighed in 3 years, when I got down to 223 before getting pregnant. I am very glad I have started down this path, and I am very excited to see what my future holds!
  6. What about trying CBD oil instead?
  7. I'm so glad I am not alone with this!

    Newbie on Protein

I have been using isopure in my coffee for pre opp diet. I don't taste it at all. No change in flavor or consistency to my coffee. I bet it's the same in soup. Give it a go! Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App That's so funny, I will have to try the Isopure in something with a bolder flavor then!

    Newbie on Protein

I don't have a suggestion, but I have tried Isopure unflavored in crystal light and it is horrible. I haven't tried it in soup though. On Amazon you can order a starter pack of unjury and they have samples of the different flavors and there is two unflavored packets.

    Breads

What about using lettuce as your "tortilla" for wraps? Kind of like a Jimmy John's "Unwhich"

    5 days post op

I'm about 1 week out and still in clear liquids per my docs guidelines, I switched to New Whey liquid protein shots. They are still pretty nasty, but I can tolerate 4oz to get 42grams of protein! Then it frees my fluid intake up for water and things I actually like. At first I was using Isopure and protein2O and I had to drink them all day long to get my protein in and it didn't leave much room for anything else.

    vomitting blood

Vomiting up blood is not normal. Are you still vomiting blood or has it resolved? It is a good thing the ER did the scan, lab work and EKG. Did they consult with your surgeon? All surgeons should have a way to contact them after hours through the their answering service. Normally you call the office and it will state they are closed and either connect you through to an answering service or give a number for you to call to contact them. If you are still vomiting I would page the on call person and let them know your symptoms and that you have already been evaluated in the ED and that you were discharged. That way a bariatric specialist can let you know what they want you to do.
  15. Yeah I can have broth and sugar free jello, but everything has to be clear, so regular protein is not allowed. I have to get my protein in through special clear protein drinks
  16. I had RNY on Monday 4/4/16, my surgeons stage one diet is clear liquids with no added sugar. Before surgery I used to occasionally drink Isopure ready to drink clear protein drinks, and Protein2O, and so I just stocked up on those for the first week and a half until my follow up. Well now that I am Post op, these drinks are so so so soooo disgusting [emoji13] The booklet I was given did specify no protein powders at this stage, but I need some other suggestions for clear liquid protein drinks that are low/no carb!

    Lowest sugar Yogurt?

Do the Oikos triple zero have chunks of fruit in them?
  19. I have a sample of that, is syntrax considered clear? I had only tried one before surgery, and it was cloudy.
  20. I hope it is downhill for you from here!
  21. It depends on the states probably, I think in Missouri I heard it is 80% covered and you would have to pay the 20% out of pocket
  22. My surgeon told me it was basically my choice. My BMI was only 43 and I didn't have any other issues yet, but after looking more at the statistics and knowing that I tend to enjoy sugary/fatty things I thought the risk of dumping would be beneficial to me. Plus I didn't want to risk not losing weight and having to go back in for a conversion to bypass. As far as the lap band goes, I didn't really even want to entertain the idea of that. In 2014 more lap bands were removed than placed in the US.
  23. Today I will be going in for my gastric bypass, along with a few others on here! I hope all goes well for all of us going in today!
  24. All in all it hasn't been too bad. The pain is still worse than immediately post op, but I know that is because the doctor put a lot of numbing medication on the incisions before they close them up! When I got home last night, I had actually gained 11lbs while in the hospital. Which is about right, I know my surgeon told the anesthetist that he wanted me to have at least 3 Liters of IV fluid during surgery, and each of the bags weigh 2.2lbs, plus I was hydrated withIV fluids pretty strongly while I could t have anything the first day, so I had about 5-6 liters of fluids total. I imagine if you had any sort of heart, kidney, lung or liver problems you would not get that much hydration, but I am luckily still very healthy, just morbidly obese. I did buy these compression tank tops at Walmart before surgery, they are kind of like spanx, but it is a spaghetti strap tank top with bra pads sewn into it but no underwire. They were a little tight to put on, but I feel like them being tight on my stomach helps a lot with the incisional pain.
  25. Same here! I am happy to already be back at home! The pain is a little worse today, yesterday I hardly had any at all!
