Surgery this Friday!! HELP!
uberbuffaloegal replied to journey2befit's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My resting heart rate before surgery was 120. I tried different medications but each caused problems with my asthma. Now 11 months out my resting heart rate is 56! This has saved my life. I know what you mean I couldn't sleep the night before either. Keep us posted. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App -
Surgery this Friday!! HELP!
uberbuffaloegal replied to journey2befit's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Not sure what the procedure is at your hospital, but my heart rate spiked and I was in tears and they gave me something to calm me down. After that no worries. Good luck, you got this. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App -
Anyone around my age that had sleeve surgery?(44)
uberbuffaloegal replied to char3672's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like you are happy with the results. Did you have alot to lose to begin with? I probably need to lose at least 120lbs. My main "goal" is to be pain free! I will deal with the cosmetic issues as they come, but if I am not always tired and in pain I think I could get through anything!!Congratulations on your achievements so far!!! Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App I had 98 to lose. So not that different. I am very strict low carb, so my inflammation is way down and my pain now non existent! You are going to be so happy, just remember it is a journey. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App -
Anyone around my age that had sleeve surgery?(44)
uberbuffaloegal replied to char3672's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am older at 48 I am 10 months out and nearly at goal. My under chin was bad around 6 months but has gotten much better now. My abdomen is very crepey, but doesn't really hang, my stomach above belly button is fine. My inner thighs a little crepey too. So I plan to wear bike short like swim shorts and bikini top. My bat wings also were bad around 6 months, but closer to goal the skin is more shriveled and wrinkly than hanging. Really unnoticeable and with weight lifting it is looking better. Good luck. One caveat I feel great and even with more face wrinkles I get a lot more attention from men and women it's crazy! Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App -
Incisions Itching
uberbuffaloegal replied to CherCare's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just as long as there is no red swelling(really obvious) and you can breathe and swallow okay. I was allergic to the dermabond so I had to get shots and get it removed. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App -

Drinking question
uberbuffaloegal replied to Jenny Nelson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I guess everyone is different. I am 8 months post opp. and still have to sip. I can still only take in a few ounces of food at a time. I sip all day to try to get in my liquids in. To be honest, I am okay with that. Having to sip the liquid all day keeps me from snacking. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App -
Just need some encouragement
uberbuffaloegal replied to Jacket52204's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 8 months post op and also hit that dreaded 3 week stall. I also tend to go up and down thru the month so don't worry it's just your body adjusting. As long as you follow your plan to the letter dont worry. I have lost 7-9 lbs a month from 2nd month. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App -

What signs should I look for to know I'm full?
uberbuffaloegal replied to numeby2017's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi numby2017, I am just a bit ahead of you at 5 weeks today. At 10 days I was able to get alot of liquids, Soup and yogurt in. I thought the surgery was a fail. Now on soft food, I feel a pressure, that's when I know to stop or the food will come up. I rarely can eat more than a couple ounces of food and liquids are even going down slowly now. Surgery was a complete success, although, I have wicked head hunger. Good luck! Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App -
I am beside myself with worry! I was sleeved March 7. I was approved by my insurance, I and my doctors office have approval letters. The insurance company now says VSG is not covered by my insurance plan. I NEVER would have had the surgery of it was not covered. They say I owe $42,000! They are even refusing to pay pre op tests and labs. Has anyone else had this happen? Did they have to pay? Am I up the creek without a paddle? Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App

BCBSTX approved now refuse payment!
uberbuffaloegal replied to uberbuffaloegal's topic in Insurance & Financing
Hi all, You know @@kmorri, that is exactly what I thought I am so happy I got my surgery. Even if I have to keep driving my 17 year old car and hold off on buying new I, so be it:) 2goldengirl, I know huh, duh, obesity, why cover it if not for obesity! Thanks for tip on insurance board, I am in CA. Kaitlynm, thanks for sharing your experience, I will talk to doctors office again tomorrow and see what they are doing. Crazy thing is they covered NUT and psych eval, I wonder what code they used. But not covered labs, lung xray and ekg Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App -

uberbuffaloegal replied to uberbuffaloegal's topic in Insurance & Financing
Thanks for your feedback! I do have my approval letter and it is for a vsg with my doctor on March 7. Apparently the problem is my plan doesn't cover weight loss programs or things related to obesity but it does cover bariatric surgery. So they're denying it because it was for obesity even though the guidelines to get bariatric surgery a BMI of 40 is what is required. Luckily I also have severe sleep apnea, and they may cover it under that. The doctor's office is talking about partial coverage so I may have to get an attorney and see if I have a leg to stand on. SURGERY on Friday, Released Today Feeling Shitty
uberbuffaloegal replied to nyhila's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi Nyhila, I am so sorry you are feeling so badly. I had my surgery 3/7 and am covered in bruises. So don't worry there, what worries me is your pain control. You said you took a Toradol that is an Nsaid, same class as Advil. I was told to never take an NSAID again after surgery, ever! Just check with your doctor's office. I know you also said you didn't like the nausea associated with other pain relievers. I take Zofran, an anti nausea pill along side and have very little nausea. I really hope you are feeling better soon. Everyday will get better. I really like the premier Protein, easy to get down, I keep mine in an insulated cup so it stays cool during the hour or two it takes me to get it down. Keep us posted. Time off for stay at home Mom
uberbuffaloegal posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all, I was curious how long stay at home Moms needed help at home. My doctor said 3 weeks. My son is 10 so he is very helpful. My hubby can probably get 1 week, but 3? No way, they have been laying off and we don't want to draw any negative attention to him. I know everyone is different, but if anyone could chime in it would be greatly appreciated. I don't have family, my parents both passed a few years back and my in laws live in Norway/Spain. Thanks, Uberbuffaloegal -

Hi 1excited,Where are you in the process? My paperwork was submitted on Feb. 11 so I should hear any day now. Wow, two little ones and your father, sounds like you are surrounded with blessings and responsibilities. I cared for my parents when my son was little, so I know. Good luck with everything, @@uberbuffaloegal as you know little ones plus caring for someone is a challenge but as you said it is both a blessing and responsibility. My paperwork was submitted February 19 BUT the insurance coordinator did not send in any of my clinical notes. The insurance company contacted her and she still did not send it in. I called my insurance company a week later and they explained what was going on. I called her and she lied and said they refused to give her the fax number. I called and they were like that is not true and here is the fax number. She also said she called them twuce , which also was not true. So my paperwork just sat for a week because she sucks. I called today and it is being reviewed. I have aetna. Who is your provider?Hi 1excited,I have BCBSTX, I was denied by Aetna in 2013, my gp had my height wrong by 4 inches, so it showed that my bmi was under 40 in the last 2 years. The lady that handled the appeals at my dr. Office was in a terrible car accident and my appeal was not timely or correct. I can't be mad, poor dear, and the lady trying to do it had no clue. I have severe sleep apnea. But don't worry I know lots who had no Trouble with Aetna. So now 2 years on I have BCBSTX and I am trying again, still no word as of today. Any word on ur end? Did they send the notes? I am in Socal, OC, where r u? Goodluck Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App -

Hi all, I am currently waiting on insurance approval. In order to prepare I asked my surgeon how much time I would need to have a helper at home. He stated 3 weeks! He said if I had a desk job he would recommend 3 weeks off, longer for an active job. My question is this, my husband can probably get a week off, Do I need to hire someone for two weeks post op? My son is 10 and I can get rides to activities. I know everyone is different. I had neck and lower back fusion, anyone out there have Vsg and these two that can compare postoperative recovery? Or any stay at home Mom's that can chime in. Thanks, Uberbuffaloegal

uberbuffaloegal replied to uberbuffaloegal's topic in Insurance & Financing
Hi DaisyAmy,Thanks so much, I think my hubby will get a week off, but you never know. There was an emergency at work two days after my back surgery and he got called back in, and that was tough. So it's nice to know there are those that made it without extra help. So glad to hear there are several people who could drive a few days later. You know I hadn't thought about the clothes, lol. I pick out his clothes everyday, that might have been an unexpected glitch. Thanks again -

Hi JH,So glad to hear there are people who can stop meds right away. I know we are all different but I sure hope I can stop pain meds right away. Glad to hear driving was okay, that is my biggest worry, school pick up and drop off. Thanks for the info.
