calling all December 2016 sleevers!
Dknal2 replied to OhHeyMarina's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How neat that you are so far away yet still able to communicate with us. Yeah the sleeve is the same regardless of where you are. But glad to hear you are doing good. It gets better on down the road so I'm looking forward to that. I've been doing Owkay. I'm from Mozambique, but currently studying and was sleeved in South Africa (Cape Town). So the set of Vitamins that mostly people talk about here are totally different this side but the experience is the same at the end of the day,and that is why I joined this forum although I'm from the other side of the world Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I know that he probably is due to comments he has made. I have lived a good portion of my life putting myself on the back burner trying tonmake sure everyone else is ok. But now it's time to take care of me and that's what I have done . You know what, it feels pretty good to say that I did what was in my best interest for me to do and whoever doesn't like it ..... Oh well ???????? -

I wear them too @ cokegal. I replace them every night after my shower. There are great reviews on them and I don't have to worry about the taste of a chewable multivitamin.i paid 60.00 for the gastric sleeve bundle which consists of multivitamin, B12 and vit D. -

@ scipiobabe... I get the feeling you will bop someone , lol ????????????. Thank you for saying I am beautiful, I appreciate it. I also agree that we as women take way too much from men and we shouldn't . This process has taught me that I am stronger than I realized. I'm very grateful for that. I wish us both success on this Weightloss journey and if my husband act up and decided to leave me, well that will be his lost. -

For years I have felt so bad about myself and I have repeatedly felt that my low self esteem was a direct result of me feeling that I let myself go. I did ignore my weight because my hubby kept saying you look good I like you thick and with curves. Until I really took a look at myself inside and out and I was so mad that I let myself get to that point. Then my health started taking a toll on me. I said bump this I am having this surgery and it still took me almost 5 years to do it from that point. Health became worse and I said now is the time. My husband tried to make me feel bad for doing this surgery. I was said to be vain n I want to look like a skinny white girl and I'm doing this for attention from men( as if I wasn't worthy to look at at 242 lbs) just everything was said to me by him. I pressed forward and my 20 year old son went with me to have my surgery and was there for me the whole time. He was an angel. Now that I have had the surgery, my husband doesn't say much about it. He tells me I look nice ( I have lost total 44 lbs preop and post op) I am delighted with my second chance at life. If it's in gods plan that I end up alone so be it. I know his insecurities are gonna kick in at some point with the more weight that I lose . If he leaves because of his insecurities, then he will lose the best thing that has ever happened to him. I would never accept responsibility if our marriage fails because I took control of my life by becoming healthier and happier. -

I am glad that we all had a moment that made us decide to change our lives, be it an embarrassing moment or a serious health scare. We all decided to take the bull by the horns and take control. Yay for us! -

Hi @ Chel1... thanks for thinking of me. I'm going well with the weight loss yes but more importantly I'm doing great emotionally. I feel good about myself and my choice to have this surgery. I have times where it's not that easy ( like when I have nausea or can't poop) but I put my big girl panties on and I press forward with Gods help. The insurance companies are slow as molasses. They don't speed up for anyone.. I pray for your approval and again thanks for keeping me on your mind. Keep in touch. -
Wow what a great doc..., that's neat to get the actual breakdown so that one know what to focus on more. That's wonderful.

Wow.. you look awesome... you have done a great job!!!! It's like looking at 2 different people. Outstanding job. -
Hi @ ambernoel... I was a little scared because the weight was coming off a bit quick. Pardon my ignorance, but what is Ppm and FFM? You said your doc said that you were losing both rather quickly. I think the stalls happen specifically because of rapid weight loss. Like your body is saying " hold up , wait one minute", lol. I was at like 204 lbs. for almost a eeek then boom it went to 199 lbs . My surgeon said at 4 weeks I can do light exercises but at 6 weeks I'm good to go so I'm excited about that.

Dknal2 replied to Dknal2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes he does... I am now like 2 1/2 weeks out almost 3 and I'm down to 199 lbs... surgery weight was 219 lbs. I'm so grateful for this opportunity to regain good health. My highest weight was 242 lbs and a laundry list of health problems not to mention depression. But to God be the glory because he afforded this opportunity to me and I have a new lease on life. This has not been a walk in the park for me but I would have done it 3 times over. I feel like I'm going to reach my goal of 150 and I can't wait. Thanks for the words of encouragement. Stay blessed. Yes and His hands will always have you. Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all they ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your path. My husband couldn't understand how much pain I constantly was in and why I stopped wanting to go out. Then he went with me to the consultation with the surgeon and then a few weeks after he surprised me and took me out for a night in the town but he saw how hard it was for me to walk. A lightbulb went off. At 5'5 and 237 lbs I hide my weight well but how I feel is a different story. sleep apnea, PCOS and Fibromyalgia are all my new normal, but after turning 40 last month I refuse to live like this anymore. 2/6/17 I will be sleeved. I have always struggled and yoyo dieting so much from WL plans to pills to pills and plans. I'm praying for you honey because marriage is hard work! But Gods got that too!! Dknal2 replied to Dknal2's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Oh goodness... I'm glad he didn't lose you. There is such a huge stigma in society if you are not 120 lbs and that needs to be erased. Just how you said you excluded yourself from family and friends. That easily turns into depression and depression is a serious mental illness. I'm glad you are onboard. I would love to see your stats. -

Oh goodness.. I'm sorry to hear about your in laws... I was an Oncology nurse for years so I have a soft spot for cancer patients and know how hard it is on the family. I'm glad you decided to get your health in order because being a diabetic is a serious matter and that's why when my doctor told me I was pretty much in early stages due to I needed a 6.6 A1c to be diagnosed and my A1c was 6.3 I was like okay I made the right decision with this surgery. People may think it's for vanity purposes but I don't care . It was to save my life and my sanity. I am so glad I made this decision and I do not regret it at all. -

You are so funny... the pics of me in the black dress were older pics before my blonde days,????????????????. Gosh, you have lost a lot of weight for only being six months in. Congratulations!!!!! I hope to be as successful as you are. Your Hgb A1c is better than mine. During pre surgery labs, my PCP checked my A1c and it was 6.3 and that's fasting. A fasting 6.6 A1c is a diagnosis for diabetes. That scared the crap out of me and I wanted to run and hide because I have seen what diabetes does to my patients.. it can be a horrible disease if not taken care of . So at that moment I knew there was no turning back from surgery. But Bill you are a rockstar and whenever I see your name I know I have to read the post because I will have a good laugh. -

Giving God all the glory because you are still here with us and he made a way ????????. I truly am glad that you are doing better. I thank God for this surgery because I really feel it has and will save my life. The aspect of shopping and looking cute in clothes is an added bonus. Not having heart issues, joint pain, sleep apnea, high cholesterol, being prediabetic or as my doctor said early stage of diabetes, and not having SOB after doing barely nothing is my goal. I want to bust 40 years old wide open as a beautiful healthy diva. If you ever want to private message me feel free, I don't really have friends, I have like 2 really close ones , but I have kept this surgery to myself except my family. I can't say that I have had uber support but I can say that this forum has provided me strength from strangers that I never would have imagined. So, utilize this forum... there are great people here. You have started on a life saving journey and I'm so proud of your bravery for doing so. Oh and thanks for the compliment...just a little belly but no six pack, lol...I wish it was a six pack but when I'm able to exercise, I'm gonna try to rip this little belly. -
Fellow sleevers , I am pleased to announce I have journeyed to onederland. Yaayyy. I weighed myself this morning, after not losing a pound for four days, and the scale said 199 lbs. I have not been 199 in probably 15 years. Starting weight at beginning of this journey in July was 242 lbs, surgery weight 219 lbs and weight today....A gorgeous 199 lbs. I am so blessed and thank God for this opportunity to regain good health and a full life. So ecxited????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I have heart issues too and at 38 that was not a good thing for me. Also, I didn't like being fat. It made me feel sad to know that I had done this to me so I wanted to do something good for myself due to for so many years I was bad to my body. I thank God for having the sleeve. It has really changed a lot about how I think about life and living a healthy life. -
