    Chronic Constipation

Thanks for chiming in! I was prescribed Linzess too. It is way too expensive and doesn't work for me at all. Wow! You get 60oz of water in a day at only 3 months post WLS? That's great! I'm working my way up to that but I anticipate that I will still have to manage my constipation daily. ???? Thanks for chiming in! I was prescribed Linzess too. Chronic Constipation

Thanks BonnieJo! I'm going to start taking the Colace every night and try to do Miralax daily. I get so bloated and uncomfortable from the constipation that it causes pain. I use to use Magnesium Citrate, but that's carbonated so I can't use it anymore, but it really works too. Thanks so much for the advice!

Sheesh! I'm so sorry your going through this too! Its ridiculously uncomfortable. Have you tried Miralax. Its rather pricy, but you can buy the Walmart brand. I also use Colace capsules from Target, senna tea called Smooth Move. I'm doing it all! Good luck to you too!
  5. I am now 10 weeks post RNY and my constipation issues are worse than ever. I've had problems with constipation prior to surgery, now its worse due to the fact that I'm taking in more protein and less water. By the way, I am trying to drink more water, I just can't seem to get enough in- in a day. The constipation makes it difficult to keep food down. Does anyone have suggestions that do not cause abdominal discomfort?
  6. This was very disheartening to read. Your message sounds very distressed and your statements are concerning for issues of safety. I urge you to seek professional help. Perhaps on an inpatient basis. I'm not going to tell you "it will get better." Instead I'll tell you a portion of my own RNY story. I had surgery on 01/11/2016. I've suffered the same flank (back) pain for 3 weeks. Constipation has been a problem, I haven't been able to keep food or water down for the past 1.5 weeks. I've had good days, and not so good days. More good than bad. It was a little rough at first trying to get my body to adjust to the long list of things that it won't tolerate, but I realized going in that this is a decision I made, no one else. This surgery has changed my life and it is teaching me patience. I'm back to work and feeling better. I'm down 40 pounds. Some days I do feel weak and drained, but I realize that could partly be because I sometimes forget to take my vitamins. Today I'm keeping fluids down and soft foods. I can't eat what everyone else eats and its a little awkward sometimes, but again, I had the surgery to help change my relationship with food, and that's precisely what the surgery has done. I do not know you, nor can I pretend to have a grasp on all the things you are feeling right now, but from what I read, I believe you have experienced a great loss. A loss for which you were unprepared. For example, the loss of the old relationship you had with your fiancée, you two use to eat out a lot together, that was your social circle and something you had in common, now its gone and he has become a caregiver. You're also morning the loss of the comfort food brings, the loss of control you have over your body rejecting food, the discomfort of surgery, mental health issues, etc. I feel for you! This is some serious stuff! Please, please, please reach out to a professional counselor. Know that now is not the time to make a major decision about anything, especially another major surgery. Get things sorted out emotionally ask for help and keep reaching out to people on this forum who have been through this same surgery. Its not all a bed of roses, but the path can lead you to a better life if YOU let it! Prayers and well wishes my RNY buddy! ????

    Awesome I did it!

    Congratulations! Persistence pays off!
  8. Hi Chiquita! Stay encouraged and know that you are not on this journey alone. I went through the same thing, I was ready to get out and get back to being active but my body and the fatigue wouldn't allow me to. I felt "drained" most of the time and still had a lot of gas pain up to 3 weeks post op. Things started picking up around week 3 for me. I wasn't allowed return to work for 6 weeks due to the type of work I do. I am down 40 pounds in 8 weeks! The results are worth it. Hang in there! ????
  9. @spicyfrog; Thank you so much for your input and sharing your experience. I tried tuna yesterday and ended up vomiting that. I'll try again next week, maybe just 1 tbsp this time instead of 2. I'm sorry you experienced this aversion to meats, but its good to know that I am not the only one.
  10. Jj7481, I thought of that. I was just afraid it would make my smoothie too thick (food texture issues) Lol!! I think I'll add .5 scoop tomorrow with a little more water. Every little bit helps. I'm also going to get back on my Premier Protein shakes. Thanks! I just hope liquid food is not my life sentence.

    Weight loss slowing.....

This happened to me my 3rd week post op, then the following week I dropped 7lbs. I think some weeks are better than others. Don't get discouraged. A loss of 2lbs is better than a gain of 2lbs. A steady an consistent loss is is equally as healthy.
  12. @@jdc121975 Definitely no M&M's, Skittles, or garbage like that. Just Whole grain Pita chips and hummus, very small amounts of that. The rest of the time its my Veggie/fruit & flaxseed smoothie with very little protein in it. I need to get at least 70-90g of protein a day and its not happening with my current indigestion issues.
  13. I'm just concerned that I'm not getting enough nutrition because I can't keep a lot of things down. I've been making smoothie's in my Nutrabullet with Kale, Baby Carrots, apple, banana, Flaxseed, and a scoop of Vanilla Whey Protein Powder, but I can't continue to just drink my food. My weight loss during the 5 weeks has been awesome. 30lbs so far. I'm very please with that. Thank you for the encouragement @@jj7481, I appreciate it. I will continue to slowly introduce soft meats. ????
  14. I just went an bought single packs of tuna. So far so good.
