  1. I just want to hear from others how long after they did what the insurance needed them to do. Like the 3 or 6 month supervised diet. How long after that was done did you have a surgery date or your surgery? My final weigh in is May 16 and paper work will be sent to the insurance. I should be approved fairly fast i would assume. I talked to my Bariatric Coordinator today and she said once the approval is back to her it will take me 3 weeks to get in to see the surgeon, then i will start my presurgery stuff and will take another 6 to 8 weeks for complete all of that. Does this seem unreasonable to anyone? 3 Months after my insurance approves me before I have my surgery???????
  2. My surgeon wont even schedual an appointment with me until all my insurance stuff is done and approved then i have to do al of his requirements so around 3 months total they said. This just seems long to me. i have seen people on here that once they do the requirements for the insurance they have a surgery date within a few weeks.
  3. Is this the way I will be eating after I am sleeved? It makes me very nervous. I have tried low carb and lost weight on it a couple times but I have never been able to maintain that way of life or eating for more then 6 months. So I am already nervous that I am going to fail before I even start. I always felt so deprived when I was on low carb high Protein. It was all mental. I know I just need to reteach myself and I WILL... Im going to do it. But I was just wondering if anyone else had debt with this and overcome? Also Can someone that is say 6 months to a year or more out. Tell me what a normal day of eating would look like for you?
  4. I am in the same boat trying to quite smoking and do my 3 month diet for the insurance. How is your smoking now that you are sleeved? DId you start back? Im thinking I can quit just not sure if i can make it stick.
  5. You guys are great. I already feel at ease. Just knowing I'm not alone in this thinking or concern. I know I can do this. The times I have eaten more protein and vegetables and left the white bread and junk food alone I do feel so so much better. It's just that I have failed soooo many times with that. But hey now that I think about it what diet have I not failed on. This is one reason I think this tool will help me so much. I'm in my first of three months of my doctor supervised diet. I just have so many emotions. Thank you all so so much for your comments.
  6. I think I will email my bariatric coordinator and ask her. This place is center of excellence too so I bet I have to have that as well. Do you have to stay the night in the hospital?
  7. @@Lindsey Skinner Abbott I am with you on the coworkers. I have not told any of them as of yet. NOt sure I want to but then I am not sure where I would tell them I will be gone for two weeks. I still have a while to figure that one out. LOL. No one has said anything about a sleep study being a prerec. or anything but I do hear so many having that done. Is that for the insurance of the surgeon? Have you been approved by your insurance yet?
  8. @@TiffanyLM That is the time frame I am looking at as well. I have to complete 90 days of supervised diet by my primary care doctor. So I will complete that May 16th. I would expect to have a surgery date soon after that as I plan to have everything else completed that I can before May 16th. I was sort of discouraged about the 90 days but as I read some have to complete much longer then that so I am trying to be patient. My issue now is im trying to do the diet the dr has me on. Low Fat. Obviously if diet would work and keep the weight off I wouldn't need surgery. But i am nervous Im going to lose to much weight. If i fall below 40 BMI the insurance will deny me. I do have prehypertention and i am currently logging 30 days of BP for the dr. So i guess we will see how that goes.

Any exception to 6 month waiting period?

I have a 3 month doctor supervised diet program to complete before insurance approval. I actually have my first of 3 visits tomorrow afternoon. My delima is this.....My BMI is 42 and if I fall below 40 I have to have another morbidity to be approved. I have lost weight and gained weight so many times before and if I thought this would work then I wouldn't need surgery. Has anyone delt with anything like this?
