Can eat more at certain times.
hannahmae replied to JennsJourney's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have the same thing. I can barely eat anything most mornings but in the evening I'm starving and can eat a greater quantity. It worries me a little just because I don't want to be eating at night but I'm starving. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

My Dr said to take stool softener every day (up to two at a time two times a day) and on occasion take Milk of Magnesia if you can't go. So far the combo is working. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

When are you able to start running?
hannahmae replied to InnerFitnessModel's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am at 4 weeks out and wanting to run so specifically asked my dr if I could at least jog. She said absolutely not. She said I can start jogging slowly at 6 weeks and build up from there. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Surgery Today - dealing with gas pain
hannahmae replied to newmeme's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Walking is the best advice. It stayed with me for a few days after surgery but then just went away. I also had it with drinking liquids and breathing out before every sip helped to reduce the gas when drinking. Hang in there, it gets better! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I was always cold prior to the surgery but now I'm really cold. My favorite item is our electric throw blankets now.

How do you make your soup I'm always on Pinterest trying to get ideas. I can't believe it's a week yay we've made it how exciting ! And which shakes you buy I just found a couple recipes on Pinterest with high protein and made them and then put them in the Vitamix to purée them. One was roasted cauliflower and white cheddar and the other was curried lentil. They both turned out good and the nutritionist told me to sprinkle in a little unflavored Protein powder each time I had some. So far, so good. So happy to be able to start puréed foods today! I bought tiny little bowls and spoons at this restaurant shop to help me eat slowly and make it seem like more food.

how long is the Gastric Sleeve surgery ?

Mine was less than an hour -
I am a week out from surgery and going back in a day. I could have started back yesterday and been fine but am giving myself a little extra time. I had two c sections and think this is a MUCH easier recovery than those. Plus, you aren't taking care of a baby! Just remember that you will likely not qualify for FMLA while you are out and if you don't have any vacation/pto/sick time yet they don't have to let you come back to work when you are ready to come back, especially if the recovery doesn't go as quickly as you had hoped. Definitely have an honest conversation with both your manager and HR before you make a decision.

Wow, it seems as though everyone is doing pretty good. We've made it a week folks, nice job! I was letting my kids cook dinner this weekend and helped. They both wanted me to try what they had made so I took a bite and tasted it then spit it out so I didn't eat it. Good thing they understood that I couldn't eat it and didn't start crying or something! Today I was feeling pretty good so I went to the store and bought some stuff to make Soups. I can't wait for the purée stage so I made two healthy purée soups tonight. I had to lick the spoon to make sure it was ok but didn't eat any. I seem to feel hungry at night. During the day today I didn't really feel hungry at all which was really weird. I had to make myself drink my Protein drink, which never happens! I hope that continues.

What part of the world is everyone in? I'm in Colorado. It's a beautiful sunny day today although a little windy.

I found it much easier to get the fluids in at the hospital too. At home, I worked really hard yesterday and I was only able to get 41 ounces Thts a great idea well today i saw my doctor she started me on Protein shakes I have to drink a shake every 2 1/2 hours and it's so hard right now I'm hungry ugh it's so hard. At least I lost 16 pounds. That would have been a struggle for me without the sleeve 16 pounds so far is awesome!! I have lost 12 so far. How about everyone else? I feel like once I start eating solids I may gain a pound just because there will be food in my stomach but I'm good with that. Feeling great today and water and broth is going down so much easier today than in the past. I start work again on Thursday but from home for a week instead of the office. I'm already restless. If I was off any longer I would be working on home repairs and probably hurt myself.

One thing that helped me with swallowing water is just breathing out fully just before swallowing it. Might help!

I seem to be the only one who isn't having the protein. My doctor is the "Director"of the Bariatric unit near me, but some of the information and direction I'm getting from her, doesn't seem very knowledgable. She told me she took about 70% of the stomach out, and that seems to be minimal compared to so many others on here. Also, I had a small hiatel hernia that she didn't repair (and the resident drs. said she doesn't repair...which is strange because it seems like a all Bariatric docs do the hernia repair). I'm trying not to panic about these things, but it does worry me. Staying in prayer for a good outcome. I think you might end up better off in the long run by not pushing your stomach now in the short term like we are sure to be doing. It will turn out fine either way I'm sure. We are at least on the road to recovery. Not too many more weeks before we all end up in a similar eating situation. ????

It is so weird that we are getting different advice on protein or not. I am feeling pretty good today. I think I feel stronger after having a little protein from time to time. I walked to the park with my kids today and as of 9am I even stopped taking any Tylenol which was my pain killer (although I may take some tonight to sleep better). I wouldn't say I'm starving or really even hungry but I am craving some solid foods for sure. I made some homemade broth today and by habit put a little slice of jalapeño for flavor before taking it out. Don't do that. It burned all the way down and I am going to have to create a new broth tomorrow. Yikes!

I'm a little late to the party but I also had surgery on the 23rd. My surgery was at 2:30 pm so I was out of the hospital 6pm on Wednesday. It would have been earlier but the pain meds had me so nauseous that I could barely move. I had to switch to Tylenol before I left and have been on that since leaving but the he pulls are too big to swallow so I have cut into pieces or crush. So far my pain is gas pain, the incision sites aren't bad at all although it feels like something is pulling on my stomach inside. I am drinking Protein drinks and Popsicles and occasionally broth. So far it's all working well. Water doesn't taste so good right now. I can't wait to eat real food. A deviled egg sounds like the best thing on earth right now!

My surgery is scheduled for Feb 23rd as well and my preop diet is only 2 days. I was worried I was the only one. ????
