WLS Orientation: The Journey Begins!
LaDivaDev replied to LaDivaDev's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Okay, quick update: I went to the Bariatric orientation, then made a consultation appointment for the following day (Friday, 2/26). I met a great doctor and we hit it off pretty good (Kaiser Doctor Eric Hahn). He recommended the bypass versus the sleeve because of my high BMI. I also met with registered dietician who put me on a 1200-calorie/day diet. I have to lose 25 pounds prior to surgery. So now, I've planned my meals for the week and plan to steam-roll it ahead. Thanks for the support always! -

Kaiser South Sac Program - Meeting with surgeon!
LaDivaDev replied to CQ209's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there! By any chance, are you doing yours through Kaiser? Where do you live? -
Hey there....WOW. Talk about feeling ambushed. I don't think that people really get how personal this is for us. There seems to be a sense of entitlement to your personal information which is not okay. It is your right to never have to disclose what you aren't comfortable disclosing. I really admire your integrity in the moment and can only imagine the violated feeling you probably experienced. Truth is, this is YOUR business and nobody else's. Obese people deal with enough discrimination already without having to tell the worked when they're trying to improve their health. At this time, you need peace of mind without others crossing that boundary line! Once you go further through your journey, it's up to you who you share with. Just my two cents. I'm feeling you on this. Always with Love and Compassion, Dev

What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
LaDivaDev replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I've had several of these moments over the years, but more recently, I began to think, "I've seriously got to do something" when I changed around the furniture in my living room. I arranged the couch facing a very large mirror on the opposing wall. I began to finally get a glimpse of how I actual look sitting when I would see my reflection from across the room. Particularly, I noticed my stomach and how far out in front of me it stretched. I honestly couldn't believe it. I literally cringed every time I'd see it. I also turned down traveling with friends out of fear that I'd slow them down and embarrass myself (I turned down Disneyland for Pete's sake!) Coincidentally, a friend of mine who had sleeve surgery a few years back, began to share her journey with me -
GP says to do Weight Watchers instead
LaDivaDev replied to careya123's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
@@careya123, I felt frustrated just reading your post on this. I think what some practitioners miss is the fact that we have been in our bodies since we were born, and there comes a time (usually by adulthood) when we begin to better understand our bodies and what it responds to. Simply put, it seems as though you may be in need of a new GP/PCP. Fortunately, it isn't all too difficult to select a new one that is aligned with your goals and desired outcomes. I'm wishing you the best! -

I hear you, Pink. Sometimes, we respond in different ways to different things (images, comments from others, memories that trigger us, etc). I totally understand where you're coming from.
