WLS Orientation: The Journey Begins!
LaDivaDev replied to LaDivaDev's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Update: You know, it really helps having this forum not only for support, but for personal accountability as well. Right now, I'm sitting in a Kaiser waiting room waiting to be called in for my EKG/ECG. This is literally the last formal pre-op hoop for me to jump through prior to getting scheduled for surgery. If all goes well with this appointment, the doctor will then review my file before giving the green light for me to be scheduled. I'm already so nervous about that. As much as we plan and think of the future, the idea of actually being scheduled scares the crap out of me! Courage is taking action in spite of fear, so that's all I'm clinging to right now. One step at a time... -
Okay all, so I think it may have been Abraham. Notice how he bucks up unafraid when Negan approached him. I love Abraham, so I'd definitely be upset about that.

WLS Orientation: The Journey Begins!

Quick update: I had my psych eval today and was told by the doctor that I'd be cleared. I stood on the scale again and I'm now only 4 lbs away from goal. The only thing left now is my EKG and final review by my surgeon prior to getting a surgery date. I'm only hoping the date works out in terms of scheduling time off from work, logistics, etc. One day at a time... -

Update: I reported to my Bariatric office today during a work break to have my weight recorded. I am now only 7 pounds always from meeting my pre-op surgery weight goal (I have lost 20 pounds in 2 months on their pre-op diet guidelines). They promptly scheduled my psych eval for next Friday. I think once that is completed, I'll get a surgery date. I honestly can't believe how close I am!!! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -

And another..."I support you and all, but ideally, I'd hope you'd lose weight the natural way." -Yeah? Well I'm not exempt from having to maintain a certain lifestyle you know! After all, this state I'm in is anything BUT natural!!! -

Surgery woes: Grandpa begged me not to have the surgery
LaDivaDev replied to crazygoose's topic in Rants & Raves
Best wishes to you on your surgery. This is a journey, even for your family. They will have to come around in due time! Blessings to you!!! [emoji173]️ -
You've seriously got this!! Chin up, soldier. Fear is normal. What makes you different is that you are choosing to take action WHILE being afraid. Not many humans experience the joy of that. You can do this!

Do you plan to forego the training for your surgery, or delay your surgery?

WLS Orientation: The Journey Begins!
LaDivaDev replied to LaDivaDev's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
A much needed update: I have been placed on Kaiser's Bariatric Eating Plan and have been exercising 2-3 days per week (I absolutely ABHOR exercise, so I'm starting out slowly with movement I like such as Water aerobics and circuit training). I weighed in for a Kaiser appointment, and according to their scale, I was down 10.6 pounds! This was after 3 weeks on this new way of living. At the end of this week, I am to call my Bariatric office with updates on how I'm doing. It feels good to have made this far thus far, so I'm keeping at it. Thanks for all the support! Dev -
Hi Laurie, I haven't facebooked since 2009 when I gave it up, but strongly considering rejoining it just to be better connected with this community. Thinking about it...

Hello RNYers! After initial consultation with my surgeon, he highly recommended that I pursue gastric bypass rather than sleeve given my high starting BMI. I had gone into the meeting set on the sleeve; needless to say, I am now looking at RNY as I trust his medical opinion and evaluation of my health. I am curious about those of you who have had RNY, specifically your starting weight/BMI and your progress to date. So...I invite those of you who feel comfortable to share your before and after RNY pics and progress. Thanks to you all! Dev

I had Dr. Hahn. Love him!! Coming up on my 5 year anniversary on Mau 16. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App Really?! That's amazing to find someone on here who has had the same doctor! I'm so curious about your experience. What was your recovery like? Did you have an entire team of support at Kaiser Fremont?

Happy consultation day! Let us know how it goes!!

Hey Laurie, good question! I went in thinking that the sleeve would be the best fit. After Dr. Hahn's initial consultation with me including: asking all the health questions, doing a brief look-over of my belly, and talking about each procedure, he highly recommended RNY because of my high BMI of 60. He also pointed out that the research shows RNY to be most effective for a person like me needing to lose more weight and maintain a higher weight loss. -

Hey there, yes, it does. Were you always set on sleeve? I was when I went in for consultation, but Dr. Hahn recommended RNY. -
Hi Laurie! I know who Dr. Dutta is...he also works at Fremont Kaiser where I will be having mine done by Dr. Hahn. Good luck getting everything figured out! I'm on my pre-op diet plan now and I think I'll hit my target by spring as well!
