    My weight loss story

Holly, your story is incredible and inspiring to me! Thank you for taking the time to share it with us!
  2. So I began my 2-week liquid diet today (RNYGB is scheduled for 8/8). I'm noticing a few things right off the bat - warning - this may be TMI: I've been peeing like CRAZY, and when I feel the urge, it is all of a sudden and incredibly urgent. I felt a bit deprived today as I'm taking in 900-1000 calories per day (I pray this improves), BUT the good news is that my nutritionist provided me with dietary guidelines that allow for solid food consumption in addition to the Protein drinks I'm taking in. Question: has anyone experienced this pee pee phenomenon? Why does it occur? Thanks for the support, as always!

2 Week Liquid Diet, Day 1

Hey Dawnie! Best wishes to you today and beyond! I too started the liquid pre-op diet today. It went okay although I felt hungry throughout and peed a LOT (I know TMI, but still). I'm on Protein shakes with some solid food options throughout provided by my dietician. How was the first day for you? I have to do this for 2 weeks. Dev
  4. What helped me in the beginning was my diffuser bottle. It is a bottle with a separate netted holder inside for things like tea bags, fruit, and herbs. I honestly don't prefer the taste of Water unless I am super thirsty, but this helped get me drinking big time! Also, as I notice many people mentioning Crystal Light, which tastes great, however, I did experience skin abnormalities from the artificial sweeteners contained within. Now, I use a water enhancer; brand name is Stur. So far, it's pretty good and easy on the palate, which I like. Good luck in getting your hydration up! I too struggle with you, but we can do this!!!
  5. I was wondering if anyone could advise how we are to take Vitamins with meals even though we are not to drink with our meals. I'm aware that we should plan to take them at mealtime for optimum absorption, but I tend to drink quite a bit when taking meds/vitamins. Thanks in advance for any input! Dev

    On liquid diet and fainted

Please PLEASE let us know what your program says about this! I'm going on the liquid diet myself one week today, and what happened to you is a concern to me that I've thought about. I hope you feel better and that things are up from here!

    I found my cheekbones! Pics

You are gorgeous, both before and after! Keep on smiling!
  18. I have been using that Einstein quote for a few weeks now. It definitely applies in this instance. You. Did. Good. I'm learning that boundaries that are safe for us can feel uncomfortable even when used appropriately in this case. I'm with you on this one; I am in the same place with regard to what I share with supervisors and coworkers. Only ONE person at my job knows, and she was the one who inspired me to consider WLS after becoming friends in graduate school years ago. This is you life, and you owe NO ONE your personal information. Kudos to you for keeping your business to yourself.

    Coworkers...

All of this conversation makes me remember why I've told no coworkers about having surgery. They offer me junk, I say "no, thanks," and it's over. I can't imagine justifying my choices in the context of surgery. I've got enough challenges as it is.
  20. This is wonderful news, and I'm so happy for you! You just keep at it, and in no time, you'll be moving toward your goals. All the best to you!!! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

  22. Hello Everyone! So I'm very new to this online support forum, and I already feel as though I know a bunch of you guys already! Reading your stories and comments has been amazing. My medical coverage is through Kaiser Permanente, and I attended their general information session and my PCP placed a bariatric referral which was approved (referral only, not necessarily the surgery). I am scheduled to attend an actual orientation this week on Thursday, and I feel like I'm already counting down the days. My partner will accompany me to provide support and ask a TON of questions (she's still in that "Are you sure you haven't tried everything possible for your weight?" part of her process). I thought I'd post and get into the habit of staying connected to this support, and in doing so, I'd like to introduce myself to you all and share a brief bit about my journey. Here goes: I am 31-years-old, I've traveled around the world, I'm educated, have a loving partner of 11 years, I'm a Mental Health Therapist, I have 2 awesome dogs (my babies), I have wonderful friends, and I come from a large family. I also happen to have a BMI of 59. Isn't it interesting how many of us look good "on paper," yet there's always that ONE thing that seems to hold us back in every other way? My hope is that this journey will represent that second shot at life. It's great to be here with you all.
  23. Rough week: this past week has proved the concept of "when life gets in the way." Long story short, I'm in Napa, CA with a group. Napa aka Wine Country is completely filled with wine, champagne and lots of good food. To make matters worse, I stepped on the scale before leaving home this morning only to find myself with a gain of a couple of pounds (due to late night snacking and improperly timed meal with little exercise this past week). I want to hit the reset button right now so badly, but I have to get through the weekend. Ugh! This is truly challenging!!!
