Good to hear it was just the band overfilled!!! When ur band is too tight do u still get hungry?

Hello!! I will be getting banded on April 7th and was never told by the PA or anyone at the doctor office I had to quit smoking, luckily I did a little research on smoking and read that you MUST quit smoking before surgery. I quit smoking yesterday 3-13-16 but am nervous. I usually smoke 1-2 cigs a day just after a stressful day of work. On the weekends when I have a few drinks I usually have a few more. I wouldn't consider myself a heavy smoker. Do y'all think I will be ok?? Anyone with similar situation!?!? I also didn't know how soon I had to stop drinking I know when I do my two week pre op, but is it not safe to have a few glasses of wine before that? Thanks!!!!

Thank you @ the professor!!! I am so excited and I know it will be a long and some times miserable road, but I tell myself no cheese burger taste as good as thin feels, heck even just being healthy! I will struggle the most with wanting a drink while being social, but I feel once I start losing the weight it will be all the "buzz" I need to feel good, can't wait!! I will keep you updated. Is there a way to follow you?? I like reading your posts!

Hello! I am new to this site, I just have to say first off.. I love your attitude and outlook on this all "the professor" I will be having my surgery for my lap band on April 7th!!! I am equally terrified and excited! I have struggled for so long and am ready to take the plunge. What is a realistic goal for weight loss?? I am 5'6 24 y/o and 234 lbs and at my heaviest. My lightest adult weight has been 149 and I miss being that size terribly. Just years of bad habits and depression helped pack the weight on. Also what do you choose to drink when you do have an alcoholic beverage? How long after surgery were u able to have a drink? I would just hate to give up my social life completely.

Did you have to pay your Deductible? I am just nervous because my deductible is $5000 so it will still be too much to have it done through the Hiatal program

HELLO!!! I AM NEW TO THIS SITE! I had recently scheduled my first free consult with the TR office of Houston. I gave them my BCBS PPO of TX Edge Blue that I have through my employer. I received a call saying my insurance does not cover WLS. I told them I will keep my consult in hopes of being able to do the hernia program. My question is... has anyone with this insurance had an issue with having the hernia part of surgery covered? Also my deductible is $5000, how much would that cause me to pay??? ANY HELP OR ADVICE GREATLY APPRECIATED I AM DYING TO HAVE THIS PROCEDURE!!!!

Forevertracy, Yes I am hoping I am not going to have to spend the $5,000 plus cost of lap band placement during surgery. How much did you pay for the test to see if you had a hernia??? Thank you for your response!!!!
