You know, a couple days pre op I bantered with my surgeon that he needed to let me have a ham and cheese sandwich. Shaking his head no, he said soon enough you will get there. 10 weeks post op I am allowed the bread but avoid it like the plague. Just can not justify the wasted calories.

Damn ladies.... I was looking for a reduction there too. Unfortunately the weight loss hasn't hit the rack yet. That said, I'll happily donate some of that to anyone interested! -
Decent is sometimes all we can hope for on the run with convenience foods. Post op you'll see. That's why we take the time to prepare meals for ourselves.

300+ pounds with a lot of weight in my legs...

Remind me when you started??? -
There are not free samples HOWEVER places like Vitamin Shoppe sell single serve packets of a lot of different protein shakes. I bought one of each and tried them all before committing to a whole container.

Ok. Ok. It's only been 10 weeks. I'm officially down to 217 from 272. Almost 60 lbs with still a long way to go. BUT! Today is my bday. I feel better today than I've felt in ages. I didn't run from the camera! I'm shopping in the XL tops now in the "regular" section. Pants 16-18 from 24. Did I mention this is only 10 weeks out??? Got a hair cut today, bought some new clothes and got a facial w dermabrasion. So, for a little perspective- grainy pic is me at 280. Next picture is today at dinner with my hubby and family. Last one in front of my new porch. Best decision EVER. And I enjoyed a lovely meal sharing off others plates at a new restaurant a friend owns, eating the right amount, enjoying every bite and taste, and quitting before I was "full". Life is good. Next year at 50 - bring it on!!!

Stalls happen. Usually they say around week 3. I've had several. Some lasted days, and then boom. You won't be the "only one" the surgery doesn't work for. I promise. We ALL think that. Instead of the scale, try putting your jeans on. Are they looser where they weren't before? Can you pull up a pair of pants, not necessarily button them, that you couldn't before? Those are the NSV's we talk about. You don't mention other forms of Protein. Are you getting enough? THAT will cause a stall. Don't mess with protein requirements. Get it all in. Use your shakes. Walk walk walk. Good luck!!!

I'm pretty sure that a Snickers bar WILL undo a sleeve. I know this from my extensive experience with the pouch I've had for 4 months. Because they're, like, basically the same thing. The peanuts will get caught in the sleeve and remain lodged there until a chemical reaction from the chocolate causes them to swell and separate the staple line. Trust me - I'm a scientist. Or at least I took a few classes in high school. Even showed up a few times a week! Actually...you know what? F*ck it, give me some of that Snickers. Just make it the peanut butter variety. I read somewhere that peanut butter cancels out the chemical reaction of the chocolate. True story! And for those who are easily triggered, yes, this WAS a joke. Though I'm told that I'm not good at being funny. And I'm probably too tired to be funny. Yeah...I'm going to bed now. I've heard if you break it in half before you eat it, all the calories and carbs fall out. You're welcome. My problem with calories that fall out is that they usually land on my hips or ass. -

while the best advise should come from your surgeon, maybe space sipping Protein shake one sip every 5 min or so? -
Oh no he didn't just go there! [emoji23]

We are missing the point here- if you were already in the works towards surgery, is there a possibility you may be grandfathered in? If not- consider switching to a different ins plan asap. Maybe thru obamacare? Just take yourself off your current plan and switch if they can cover your surgery faster. -
Can't stop smoking :(

Probably not the best question to ask, but here I go...

And it's OK to have food funerals! Just don't do it for two straight weeks every meal We all have our need for a fix- mine came during a road trip I took two weeks prior to surgery. From Chicago to Dallas by way of St. Louis. Had a Dairy Queen dipped cone every day! Large!!! And from there it was a huge juicy Texas steak, pulled pork BBQ and a big burrito. The rest of the time I ate healthfully, drank Protein shakes and really took it easy at the stadiums by eating before we went. Enjoy it- but know you may not even WANT some of those things post op. I'm still dying for a steak, but too afraid to try it yet. I'm barely dipping my toes 10 weeks post op in ground beef. -
Thank you so much!
-
For what? I've no problems drinking my liquids, just miss drinking them while eating meals in restaurants. You're pre op, so you may not be aware that post op you have to wait 30 minutes after eating before you can have any liquids.

Gosh. The "hardest" thing was not drinking while eating. However, this is what I've learned- even though I eat slowly, I still finish before everyone else. I use that time to sit back and talk with them. Really engage myself in conversation. By the time everyone has finished and the table has been cleared, I'm usually at the 30 min mark and enjoy the last sips of Water or iced tea before we leave. This is eating out. At home I've not had that same problem. Thank you for the kind words.

do you drink it with a straw? Or use the little spoony thing on the end?Ok, I laughed way too hard at the thought of the little spoony thing on the end. It's just that they have SO MANY uses those little spoony things....

So, only WLS people can understand this- I missed sizes. Literally! Blew right past most of 20 and 18! Lol. Shopping today for MUCH needed pants/ shorts (!!!) I found myself in 16's. Wohoo! Long way to go still-72 lbs. but just WOW! This has been discussed before, but yesterday went to put on my FAVORITE white Capri jeans. I almost mourned them as I held them literally 10 inches from my stomach not to mention my legs swimming in them.
-
I know you will!!! Hope you're feeling better! Actually heading to the stores to buy some clothes today. I'm down to one pair of pants that fit- and I only purchased them last week. Today is my bday- going out with family and friends, and then tomorrow headed off to freshman orientation with #1 son for college- need clothes to wear!!! Lol. Wish me luck!

no chewing. oversized is always better. bigger straw = more flavor and it's hard to suck on a skinny little straw which is just frustrating. what's your preference, @@Dub ? Oh. I don't think he would want to have a preference to big or little, fat or skinny straws. He may have an opinion on whether one chews on them or sucks them though....
