    Eating Leftovers

My comment would be like a couple of others- why are you eating solids already? You had bypass? Right? There needs to be a progression, IMHO, into solids- at 3 months post op, when I am cleared to eat anything, I still can't. And like a previous poster said, one day something works, another it doesn't, and I get stuck or nauseated. The mouth foaming is the worst! Lol. Be careful. Treat your pouch gently. By 2 weeks post op your foods should still be soft, mushy and WET. And always always always- don't drink after you eat. Feel better! Be kind to your body! Best wishes!! 3. So, maybe I will call my doc. I don't experience hunger yet- just that horrid burning pain on the occasion I forget to eat...and I follow my diet impeccably. Grr. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  5. Ok. I admit it. I've never been to a goodwill store. I've had them Pick things up, and I've dropped off to Salvation Army. Are the prices really good? Quality?? I hate sounding like a snob- I'm not- but the Salvation Army stores are just plain yuck. The clothes are all musty smelling and often dirty still. Is it worth it? Tips and tricks? I'm Only 2 weeks post op today and my yoga pants are falling off me. And I need more tops!

    Best Plastic Surgeons in Mexico?

Curious- what kind of cost savings are we looking at to have procedures done in Mexico? Are we looking at about half the cost of the USA? Just curious. No where near ready, but figure it to be prudent if I start saving now- especially with three kids in college! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    8weeks post op progress

Great job!!! Went in for my 3 months post op check on Tuesday. I've been ecstatic so far with the changes. My surgeon is, as well. Then he told me- "are you ready? You are entering the "sweet spot" for weight loss." My reply- "excuse me? Aren't I in it now?" "Nope", he said, " months 3-9 after bypass is the sweet spot when the majority of the weight comes off." Okay. Holy Crapola!!! I nearly fell over! I've dropped almost 70 pounds since I began in December- 50 since surgery 3 months ago! I have another 60-70 to go. (Not sure where I want to land- 140 or 130...we will see when I get near there.) Keep it up girl! You look great and I bet you're feeling better too!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. Ok, it's 2:30 am, just got back in from a great night seeing people I have not been with in 3+ years. But wanted to say today I found my cheekbones! I'm 6 weeks post op bypass. First pic take a couple years ago when I last saw this group This pic I just now took. Sorry for the bags under my eyes. It's late! So this is what My 50 year old face looks like!?!? I see a mini face lift in my future! Lol
  10. Final point- NOT eating enough will also put your body into starvation mode which can cause it to store any possible calorie it can for future use- thus leading to weight gain. We have all heard it- skipping meals is also bad for your metabolism!
  11. For so many reason! Surgery date- 3/23/16. SW 272 CW 210. 60 more to go..... Yep. I'm officially in the 10's! Next stop Onederland! It amazes me daily how the weight loss speeds up and slows down. Seems like when I was in the 30's it was just yo-yo-ing through them. When I hit the twenties, went faster. When I hit the teens- zoom!!! I've no clue how long it will take to get to 199- but we're in it for the long haul, so it shall do what it shall do in terms of time. Today I finally packed up all of my plus sized clothing. There is not one piece over a 16 or XL top, and those are getting roomy. I kept putting it off- finally piling them up in a corner of my room until my husband asked if I wanted him to bag them for donation. Nope, it was something I needed to do myself. I didn't mourn them- other than a couple of pieces I actually loved- as I thought I would. I was giddy cleaning out my closets today. Someone is going to get a great deal at goodwill on some beautiful size 22-18 Tahari suits! My closet is quite barren now, save for the few things I am buying to get myself through- mainly workout clothes that double as errand running outfits. Next week we Celebrate our 20th anniversary. Instead of Vegas, or Nashville we're going hiking at Starved Rock here in Illinois. Now THAT is a vacation I could not have done even 3 months ago!!!
  12. Well heck! I've had my tubes tied and cauterized, missing my appendix, tonsils gone too. Guess I wasn't " intact" prior to my RNY bypass surgery so no biggie for me!!
  13. That's simply not true. My weight gain was a DIRECT result of high doses of oral prednisone as well as IV decadron combined with lack of movement due to rheumatoid arthritis for 9 long years. It completely destroyed my adrenal function. I ate very healthfully with an occasional snack. But nothing in crazy excess. I simply lacked metabolism, my RMR was zilch and physically I couldn't move. The only way I could lose weight after many consultations, crying at different docs offices, was WLS. Coupled with some of the studies showing that some people with autoimmune disorders were showing signs of remission, my decision was made. And it was the best one ever! I was in some form of extreme pain almost daily for 9 years. Since surgery- one flare that lasted 2 days and was very manageable.

    Surgery 1 Year Anniversay!

Goodness! Great job to both of you! I find myself, 3 months out almost, wanting to shout from the rooftops to those who suffer obesity "LOOK AT ME!!! You can do this too!!!!" But alas, it is not my place. I'm exactly 62 lbs down from my starting weight of 272 today. SIXTY TWO FRICKING POUNDS!!!! Still have another 60 to go, but what a hoot!!! I'm shopping for clothes in the "regular" section again!!!
  15. WholeFoods is carrying this. High Protein excellent consistency and taste. Whole pint is only 240-280 calories! 6 flavors i think.
  16. Not if its unflavored! Lol. But- what I have been known to do is add one scoop of unflavored to my regular shake- thereby doubling the Protein value. Try those chips is you can. GNC carries single serve bags. I go with the sea salt ones and use with salsa. Guilt free indulgences!

    Halo Top ice cream

The great thing about erythritol as a sugar alcohol is that for MOST people, it doesn't cause the GI disturbances that malitol, xylitol and sorbitol do. The molecule that makes up erythritol is so much smaller, and very little of it can reach the colon to feed the bacteria that would cause the upset. And for the percentage that does make it- well the intestinal bacteria can't digest it. Erythritol enters the blood stream and 90% is actually excreted in the urine untouched. It has a zero glycemic index too! The warning for it is that should you consume over 50g at once you may have stomach upset/grumbling.
  18. There are other choices to supplement your Protein, you know. Protein Bars, like Quest, are 20-22 g of protein per bar and are a nice snack alternative. You can also buy unflavored Protein powder -online as well- and add to whatever you are eating or drinking and even bake with it. Some people I know use non fat powdered milk as an additive to things to increase the protein count to meet your requirements. Explore other options before committing to more RTD shakes. Heck! Quest even has some pretty good chips that are loaded -21 grams!- with protein! Awesome for dipping in salsa or a sour cream dip!
  19. Damn. I'm off here for a week and Kinda got a medical license? Time flies!
  20. @@KindaFamiliar Damn. I'm out. My ass fell off with the weight loss.

7 weeks Post-op FULL OF REGRETS

Understandable, but we all need to be conscientious enough to make provisions for such instances. Understandable, but we all need to be conscientious enough to make provisions for such instances.

7 weeks Post-op FULL OF REGRETS

Why are people relying on those providers that know nothing about what complications a Bariatric patient may be experiencing?? I don't get it- the only time I had a "problem" the first and only person I contacted was my surgeon- and was seen immediately by him after speaking with him in the phone. The ONLY person anyone post op- especially this soon after surgery - any of us need to speak with is our SURGEON. They are the experts. Mine does his own EGD's. Emergency departments are there to facilitate emergencies and if it is a Bariatric surgery emergency they should be contacting your surgeon ONLY. Second guessing anything post op does nothing but delay necessary treatment, or possibly allaying your worries. Go to your surgeon ladies and gents. That's what you paid them for and if it isn't Bariatric related they will get you to who you need to see.

Cheating on day 6 post op

Yes. I feel so so hungry. Today is my 6th day post op. I had the lap band prior and I guess I have the same restriction I don't know. Sent from my SM-G925T using the BariatricPal App Are you taking an acid reducer? It's more likely acid or head hunger. If you're "hungry" - have something from your plan.Kristen- did ou have your surgery yet???
  25. So this has been hashed through before- but with newer members, or as time has progressed for older ones, let's see what's new. Convenience eating is usually loaded with calories and stuff we need to avoid post op. What are some good finds for eating out on the go? My latest comes from of all places Dunkin Donuts!!! It's the wake up wrap- egg, a piece of cheese and a smallish slice of thin ham on a steamed flour tortilla that is about 4 or 5 inches round, folded like a taco. Total of 149 calories and one fills me up completely. Who's next?
