Yep. At this point you need to be adding weight or resistance to your workout. If you can afford a few personal training sessions, it's worth it. Ask the people at the gym if any of the trainers on staff are used to dealing with "special needs" clients- those who have medical conditions or have had weight loss surgery. Usually there will be one or two who do. You can then transfer your new- found knowledge on how to work out to your daily routines. Even if you don't join a gym, you can do the work at home with free weights and resistance bands. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Weird Food Dreams
LisaMergs replied to HanSolo1977's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Well, no food or smoking dreams here BUT last night I dreamt a longtime patient of mine was actually transgender. Said patient does not exist in my world (or practice) that I know of. Mmmm. Wonder what Sigmond would say about that one? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Wait- you had your surgery THIS June? 2016? Ummm. Mine was 3/23 started at 272 and I'm down to 180. Your weight loss is perfect. You need to let the process work. A TRUE stall goes on for weeks- months. Not a days or a week. For me, and ONLY saying for me, I'll grab a handful of popcorn or pretzels if things are slowing down. Usually kicks it into gear. But I'm not saying you or anyone else should. I have great will power and can only have that much. If you can - try it. shake your work outs up a little, too. Don't keep doing the same things over and over. I often see my weight bounce up and down between two pounds for a while then drop. Rarely do I progress through a "decade" of pounds (like 230-220, 190-180) without this happening. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Call the toll free number or email them and ask what the blend breakdown is- obviously the whey Protein is the higher of the two- but by how much? Whey protein in ISOLATE form is the best choice for those who do not avoid dairy. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Labor Day weekend. .. anyone struggling?
LisaMergs replied to Candygyrl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was the week before Easter. The ONLY holiday I get a break from preparing. We go to a wonderful brunch. This year, I opted to go to church with everyone and then home while they went. I was perfectly fine with that. Next big outing was 2 mos post op for my bday. Picked off my husbands plate. Point is- couldn't care less about the eating that goes with the holidays. I'm much more in tune with the social aspect and enjoying the company of those around me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Choosing a Protein Powder
LisaMergs replied to missvee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Which stores carry isopure? I've tried the same stores I get my protein from (shop rite, acme, Walgreens or Walmart) but I can never find isopure. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Pretty much everywhere- especially GNC, Vitamin Shoppe- and local gyms, carry ready to drink ISOPURE. They sell a powdered version at the health stores as well. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App That's the problem I think I'm having I don't want to stray to something that wasn't suggested. I saw one today that just listed 98% whey protein and just thought "it's too good to be true!" You've been really helpful thank you!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App My pleasure- but remember-you want whey protein isolate- not just whey protein- if you can get it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
3 1/2 weeks out and LIFE IS GREAT!
LisaMergs replied to mommafranz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Find other drinks and ways of incorporating the protein into your meals. I've said it before- many options. Add a half or full scoop of unflavored protein to your flavored one- you will increase the protein value without affecting the taste. You can add the powder to your yogurt and cottage cheese, you can choose a "clear" portion drink like Isopure or Protein2O. I've not tried this, but know people who make Jello using Isopure as the liquid. Hard to guess how much protein per serving unless you measure it all out perfectly. Eventually, you will rely less on the drinks and more on the food you eat for protein, using the drinks as a supplement only or for a quick in the go replacement. Good luck. BCBS is typically VERY fast. Find out exactly when the office submits, wait 2 days and call the ins company. My money says they'll have an answer for you by then. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Any coffee drinkers in the house?
LisaMergs replied to jenrae1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon allowed coffee as one of my clear liquid pre and post surgery. I am 6 days out and I mix 1/2 scoop of Isopure Protein with some cold vanilla creamer and then pour that info my coffee. I'm thrilled because coffee keeps me "moving" if you know what I mean. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App That's funny! I've a fellow bypass friend who literally make a concoction each and every morning- she's a school teacher and said it lasts her to lunch. She uses one Premier Protein shake, a scoop of unflavored protein, an equal amount of coffee to the premier shake, squirts in some SF Torini syrup- whatever her mood fancies that day- some SF FF sweet cream Coffemate and tons of ice. shakes it up and keeps it on her desk and drinks all morning. That's a lot of work for a cuppa but a bariatric gal has to do what she has to do. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I thought we were no longer suppose to get hungry!?
LisaMergs replied to gustavio's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are all kinds of names for it, one being "head hunger". When you aren't eating, you should be drinking. Constantly. That will help. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I'm sitting on the patio at Starbucks enjoying a SFVanilla hot latte right now My NUT said one cup a day is fine. That's why mine is a venti. Well. The one I'll have tonight will be a venti, as well lol. But I follow my NUT plan and such to the "T", don't have GERD, and exercise. If I want my dang coffee, I'm having it.
