How to break the habit of eating and drinking
LisaMergs replied to JayVSG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Suggestion- if you eat hot/spicy and your mouth is on fire, save a little teaspoon worth of room to eat a dollop of sour cream. Milk products relieve the heat- Water as I'm sure you know, doesn't. My .22 cents worth Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Heck- any of us who are on FB and have lost weight are posting more pics of ourselves. The truth is most of us avoided being in pictures because we didn't want it recorded for posterity and we didn't want to see it. The changes we see make us feel more attractive, and really while losing the weight boils down to health, feeling "pretty" or "handsome" is a darned good side effect My kids- now past the need to take selfies with their mama- were getting irritated with me. I told them honestly that I had avoided pictures with them over the last 8-9 years and needed to take them to make up for it! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

How many calories do you get in a day?
LisaMergs replied to ajg91342's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm just at 5.5 months and still average 800 per day. Also, my pouch hasn't seemed to change to accommodate any more than 1/2 c of food at a meal. One bite too many and I'm foaming. Hence, I eat one bite short of it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Adding a little pearl my mother told me from the time I was young- don't put down on paper what you don't want everyone to know. Same goes for message boards and the Internet in general. Daaaaammmm. She always was a smart cookie, that mama of mine. ❤️ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

This might be a fun little 5 minute test for y'all. http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/376738-This-might-be-a-fun-little-5-minute-test-for-y%27all%2E Maybe before people post they can go to @@LipstickLady 's thread here, read their personality type, and then think before they speak!!! Perhaps knowing if you are easily set on edge, are prone to irrational outbursts, or just plain argumentative would help them hit the cancel post button before going too far.... One could always "save draft" if you needed to reflect on what you were going to say instead of immediately pounding out letters on the keyboard and tossing them out into the universe. Interesting- and pretty darned on point. Thanks for this. ENFP (Extraverted iNtuitive Feeling Perceiving) As an ENFP, your primary mode of living is focused externally, where you take things in primarily via your intuition. Your secondary mode is internal, where you deal with things according to how you feel about them, or how they fit in with your personal value system. ENFPs are warm, enthusiastic people, typically very bright and full of potential. They live in the world of possibilities, and can become very passionate and excited about things. Their enthusiasm lends them the ability to inspire and motivate others, more so than we see in other types. They can talk their way in or out of anything. They love life, seeing it as a special gift, and strive to make the most out of it. ENFPs have an unusually broad range of skills and talents. They are good at most things which interest them. Project-oriented, they may go through several different careers during their lifetime. To onlookers, the ENFP may seem directionless and without purpose, but ENFPs are actually quite consistent, in that they have a strong sense of values which they live with throughout their lives. An ENFP needs to feel that they are living their lives as their true Self, walking in step with what they believe is right. They see meaning in everything, and are on a continuous Quest to adapt their lives and values to achieve inner peace. They're constantly aware and somewhat fearful of losing touch with themselves. ENFPs are charming, ingenuous, risk-taking, sensitive, people-oriented individuals with capabilities ranging across a broad spectrum. They have many gifts which they will use to fulfill themselves and those near them, if they are able to remain centered and master the ability of following through. ENFP Strengths Curious – When it comes to new ideas, ENFPs aren't interested in brooding – they want to go out and experience things, and don't hesitate to step out of their comfort zones to do so. ENFPs are imaginative and open-minded, seeing all things as part of the big, mysterious puzzle called life. Observant – ENFPs believe that there are no irrelevant actions, that every shift in sentiment, every move and every idea is part of something bigger. To satisfy their curiosity, ENFPs try to notice all of these things, and to never miss a moment. Energetic and Enthusiastic – As they form new connections and ideas, ENFPs won't hold their tongues – they're excited about their findings, and share them with anyone who'll listen. This infectious enthusiasm has the dual benefit of giving ENFPs a chance to make more social connections, and of giving them a new source of information and experience, as they fit their new friend's opinions into their existing ideas. Excellent Communicators – It's a good thing that ENFPs have such strong people skills, or they'd never express their ideas. ENFPs enjoy both small talk and deep, meaningful conversations, which are just two sides of the same coin for them, and are adept at steering conversations towards their desired subjects in ways that feel completely natural and unforced. Know How to Relax – It's not all “nature of the cosmos” discussions with ENFPs – people with this personality type know that sometimes nothing is as important as simply having fun and experiencing life's joys. This Intuitive trait lets ENFPs know that it's time to shake things up, and these wild bursts of enthusiastic energy can surprise even their closest friends. Very Popular and Friendly – All this adaptability and spontaneity comes together to form a person who is approachable, interesting and exciting, with a cooperative and altruistic spirit and friendly, empathetic disposition. ENFPs get along with pretty much everyone, and their circles of friends stretch far and wide. ENFP Weaknesses Poor Practical Skills – When it comes to conceiving ideas and starting projects, especially involving other people, ENFPs have exceptional talent. Unfortunately their skill with upkeep, administration, and follow-through on those projects struggles. Without more hands-on people to help push day-to-day things along, the ENFP's ideas are likely to remain just that – ideas. Find it Difficult to Focus – ENFPs are natural explorers of interpersonal connections and philosophy, but this backfires when what needs to be done is that meaty report sitting right in front of them. It's hard for ENFPs to focus and maintain interest when tasks drift towards routine, administrative matters, and away from broader concepts. Overthink Things – ENFPs don't take things at face value – they look for underlying motives in even the simplest things. It's not uncommon for ENFPs to lose a bit of sleep asking themselves why someone did what they did, what it might mean, and what to do about it. Get Stressed Easily – All this overthinking isn't just for their own benefit – ENFPs, especially turbulent ones, are very sensitive, and care deeply about other's feelings. A consequence of their popularity is that others often look to them for guidance and help, which takes time, and it's easy to see why ENFPs sometimes get overwhelmed, especially when they can't say yes to every request. Highly Emotional – While emotional expression is healthy and natural (with ENFPs even viewing it as a core part of their identity), it can come out intensely, which can cuase problems for this personality type. Particularly when under stress, criticism or conflict, ENFPs can experience emotional bursts that are counter-productive at best, and destructive at worst. Independent to a Fault – ENFPs loathe being micromanaged and restrained by heavy-handed rules – they want to be seen as highly independent masters of their own fates, even possessors of an altruistic wisdom that goes beyond draconian law. The challenge for ENFPs is that they live in a world of checks and balances, a pill they are not happy to swallow. Famous ENFP's Oscar Wilde Salvador Dali Ellen DeGeneres Sandra Bullock Orson Welles Mark Twain Che Guevara Aldous Huxley Career Choices Consultant Psychologist Entrepreneur Actor Teacher Counselor Politician / Diplomat Writer / Journalist Television Reporter Computer Programmer / Systems Analyst Scientist Engineer Artist ENFP In Summary ... Warmly enthusiastic and imaginative. See life as full of possibilities. Make connections between events and information very quickly, and confidently proceed based on the patterns they see. Want a lot of affirmation from others, and readily give appreciation and support. Spontaneous and flexible, often rely on their ability to improvise and their verbal fluency Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Sister! I am SO with you on this! I was hoping the girls would go down as I lost weight. Nope. Of course, they've always been "there", but a girl could dream the impossible dream. Meanwhile, I think I've lost my arse- maybe I could self donate from one body area to another someday. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I'm going to first and foremost say I agree with what everyone above said. Now, I'm going to play devils advocate: Is it possible that whenever you speak to them, it has something to do with your surgery or weight loss? Are most of your FB posts about it too? I ask for one reason- someone I know who had the surgery a few years ago went on and on with anyone and everyone they could- constantly. After about 6-8 months of this, people either turned their heads and rolled their eyes, avoided being around her, and often gossiped to one another about how sick and tired they were hearing about it. Woman STILL has no clue- and never got the message as she is still so absorbed in her weight loss and her surgery. Please know I'm not saying you are like this- it's just another perspective. Of course, if this IS an issue, you can still turn them off in your psyche if discussing it all of the time helps YOU. Either and any which way- YOU be YOU- and enjoy yourself and all your accomplishments! Good luck!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Here's the recipe for the zucchini frites: Zucchini Frites- I zucchini cut into French Fry size pieces 1 egg and 1 tbl Water, beaten 1/4 c almond flour 1 scoop unflavored Protein powder 1 tbl garlic powder Salt and pepper 1/4 c Parmesan cheese 1/4 Panko crumbs Mix almond flour, Protein Powder and seasonings in a zip lock bag. Add zucchini and shake to coat. Dip each in egg mixture, roll in Panko ( you don't need a lot- just a bit for crunch, so don't coat them in Panko) Set on cookie sheet that has been sprayed and then spritz them all with Pam ( I use the olive oil spray) and bake at 425 til golden. You can shave a little fresh parm on top, and drizzle some ranch on them too! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
