Beating yourself up nutritionally speaking
LisaMergs replied to LisaMergs's topic in Food and Nutrition
Since this is my own thread- I'm going to hijack it for a moment. Was just in Victoria's Secret Need new bras and panties Now I can fit their bras And I was about to dump a couple hundred bucks, easily Did I get any help? Nope. Needed a size change, was told to push the button. No one came. Pushed again. Nothing. And nothing 10 min I stood in the dressing room. I proceeded to change, take the three styles I was trying on to the cashier, and politely told her I would go to a store where the clerks were attentive to customers. A group of the associates were just standing up there chatting. Sale lost. Buh bye now. Back to beating ourselves up nutritionally.... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Yep. I bought 'em, own 'em, and fit into them

Bolingbrook. 12-14 years ago I was engaged to a woman who wore a size 12 pant. Boy was she pissed when I was 310-320 pounds and I could fit in those 12's better than her! I carry most of my weight in my torso. That's about 40 min from me. I'm on the North side of O'Hare airport. And I don't want to know why you were wearing her pants.... Omg yes!!! I went to Catholic school for 12 years and that is the ONLY kind the nuns kept for an "emergency". A box, with the "belt" included!!! I was using tampons by 8th grade, and when I was handed that the first time- I almost bust out laughing and asked the nun "are you F-ing KIDDING me???" The thought of detention and kneeling in front of the Virgin Mary for an hour after school shut my mouth fast! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

To the OP- I have two words Uterine ablation Best damn procedure ever. They remove, cauterize, then uterine lining. Basically? Insert what is like a balloon (a bladder) into your uterus, and inflate the dang thing with boilin hot Water. Sound horrid? Medieval? Nope. You're in a state like a colonoscopy and don't know what's happening. After that? No more periods!!! Mine was done over 12 years ago and I've "spotted" MAYBE 10 times. For all of one "wipe" worth if you get my drift. Funny thing? All of the typical PMS symptoms vanished with it. No mood swings, uncontrollable need to munch, nada. AND NO PERIOD!! Now, as I approach menopausal age, I have NO CLUE if I'm in it! Lol. No stopped periods to watch for, and I'm good with that! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Well- definitely NOT covered
LisaMergs replied to LisaMergs's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Yes, I was really surprised to see they don't cover speech therapy for kids. My husband started with the company back in July. He's the #2 guy there, right behind the COO, and believe me, I will be all over this once he is further settled in...companies can choose what they want covered, or, in this case, not. I'm not happy with this... -

I think I'm going to start a political lobby. Seriously. I need something to do- that is meaningful and has impact. I've been excellent at rallying groups and troupes on the past for a myriad of things. Why not this??? Off to begin research.... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Coffee... It's My One True Love
LisaMergs replied to TheRev's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This one shocked me! I don't know why, but it did! My son is headed today to the NCAA headquarters in Indiana with 19 other students from University of Iowa. ( Did I mention how proud and excited I am for him??? He had to submit an application, write out essays, etc to be chosen from a pool of 1000 who applied!!! And he is a freshman!!!) They are spending the next 4 days there studying, learning, meeting with NCAA management, etc. I'm sending this to him so he can ask about it there. Interested to find out how they monitor the athletes with caffeine consumption. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I just found PatchMD!

I really worry about the efficacy of these. There are many medications delivered transdermally, but they are typically regulated prescriptions, so clinical testing and submission to the FDA are required. In the US, Vitamin supplements are NOT FDA regulated- unless they are prescribed and dispensed by a pharmacist. Therefore, who is to know how much uptake occurs? One could postulate that lab results will tell, as mentioned above, but some Vitamins are excreted quickly, others stored in areas (tissues) around our bodies. Who is to say that what is floating around your blood when they do a draw isn't what has been stored from before? Would several months of repeat testing show an increase or decrease of vitamins? This is simply pondering on my part. I would love for them to work- beats remembering pills. But until we know more? I'm avoiding. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Having a cold for the first time
LisaMergs replied to Jobey's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You know, I was thinking about this all week. All three of my kids have been fighting colds. I've been teetering it feels like, for days, but seem to be fighting it off. I'm worried about meds to alleviate any symptoms, should I need them--With a pouch from bypass, how my body will react to them. Sorry you're not feeling well. Maybe some good old chicken Soup or broth with unflavored Protein powder?? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Most men would be nervous about their wife being around Mr Happy with a pair of scissors but not me! By the way, waxing the landscape hurts like heck! I will NEVER do that again... Wax wax and wax some more. Stops hurting much after a while, and eventually the hair just stops growing in. You know, cuz I know that from my eyebrows. And things. I may be off here, but the profile pic I can see - you look quite young! If you are- you are a t a HUGE (no pun intended!) advantage--- Youth! Elasticity! Good Hormone levels Flowing!!! Those things in themselves lend well to your skin recovering! I'm down just over 100 since I started- last December- and have minimal hanging skin. And believe me- if anyone was going to- that would be me???? You need to take this all ONE STEP AT A TIME. Get healthy first- emotionally,, physically and then cosmetically, if needed. Good Luck! Thanks @@SoExcited101 Ok. I'm not huge into taking pics. Had my son take these outside since I couldn't get a full shot in the bathroom. No comments on the bags under my eyes-- I haven't slept well in weeks. I wore this top for one reason only- I haven't worn it since the day I turned 40- over 9 years ago. My husband threw me a surprise party that day and that's what I had on when I walked into the house. Ok. Ok. Ok. Here goes- new Calvin Klein Size 10 Skinny Jeans. On me. Weighing in at 176 today.
