    Been Down Lately

You may consider re-visiting your Nutritionist and surgeon. They may give you insight. Also, if the stall is that long, an exercise physiologist. How much we consume and how much we expend via physical activity need to be balanced. You can't starve it off yourself. Your body needs fuel- or it will shut down the metabolism to protect itself. Many a person has gone from overweight to obese by thinking starvation is key. Get intervention before it's out of control. Good luck, and you've got this! Your progress is nothing to be ashamed of!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Beating yourself up nutritionally speaking

Again, hijacking my own thread... Completely off "all" topics.. Exciting news-- my daughters choir-she is in HS- was just asked to take part in the Presidential Inauguration festivities. What is really cool- and even though I can't stand her- is if Hilary is elected, they will likely have an even larger role since she attended the same HS and is from our home town... I may not like the woman or her politics, but for the kids- what an amazing experience. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Which blender should I get?

I love my "THAT" kind too! Yep. Agreed. I already had a Ninja- and used it a bit in the beginning for Bariatric purposes, but now it's just for regular use when I'm cooking A good old shaker/blender bottle with the mixer thing that looks like a jack is perfect for shakes- doesn't make too much air, easy to clean and take on the go. Mine has a bottom part that unscrews and holds the Protein powder dry until I need it. Easy Peezy. Foamy Protein shakes suck lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

"VS" as in "variable speed" (drill) -nothing dirty intended. You know how us guys love our power tools. You should see this little beauty of a variable speed drill I have, light weight, dual speeds (0-450RPM, 0-1500RPM), 20V lithium-ion battery, etc., oh yeah! (I know you meant Victoria's Secret" ) Don't let 'em fool ya.....some of these chics are down with power tools. Just look at the way their eyes glaze over when they talk about B.O.B. Again, refer to my reply to @@4MRB4PHOTO Variable speeds..... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  16. Was hoping that the new insurance coverage we start on Oct 1 would POSSIBLY cover a little bit of plastics- nope. Not even on the case of rashes. They are VERY specific! Guess it's out of pocket all the way. Good thing I'm a way off from it lol. Time to save! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Well- definitely NOT covered

I have no idea if this is possible- but could you decline your insurance coverage and get on a different policy thru Obamacare or something? May be cheaper in the long run? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Walking the Mall

Well, I was just in the mall, and was thinking back to those first weeks post op. For those of you who are about to have or just had surgery, may I suggest Mall Walking? Here is why- Flat surfaces... Less likely to trip on sidewalks, rocks, etc. especially while you're healing Benches- When you need a break, there are benches all over to sit and take one Weather- If it is inclement, or pending, you can get your walk in still I walked the two malls by me alternately. One opened by 6:30 am just for walkers, and McDonald's was open to grab a bottle of Water or some beverage. It was nice to get out and go somewhere, instead of the treadmill, and as soon as I was able, I went to my gym and had already built up stamina and was ready to tear it up. Just an idea for you folks. Moving is so important to your recovery. Having a safe place with the above "pros" helps. One note- finish before the stores open. You'll either get caught up in the crowds, or leave with your pocket book a lot lighter from the shopping detours you take!!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  22. What you COULD be experiencing is called tissue turn-over. When you bump/irritate it, the area has a memory of being injured. Your scars are made up of a different cellular structure than untouched skin. Collagen, in untouched skin, has a basket weave structure, whereas in scar tissue, the tissue is more fibrous, and one directional. Without knowing what the scar looks like, it's hard to tell. Did it form a keloid? Meaning is it raised, painful? Could possibly be hypertrophic- where the collagen formation was incomplete. You said it was infected at one point and you were given an antibiotic salve- something could be said here, as well. If you had a fistula, think of a well spring coming to the surface, with the infection at the bottom, your skin surface the top of the well, again, incomplete collagen formation after it healed. So my theory - without seeing it or looking at cytology slides, would be that the cellular structure may keep trying to "turn over" to complete the healing process. Yep. Microbiology major in undergrad lol. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Oh, and for what it's worth- my c-section scar- 16 years later, still drives me batty! Itchy too!
