Does it make me a horrible wife
LisaMergs replied to QueenOfTheTamazons's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Be honest. Tell him during a time when you don't need anything that you appreciate all his help and offerings, but for now you're doing fine, and will let him know if you require assistance. We should all be so lucky. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
No. Depending upon the surgery and what you want out of it- eating breaded fried chicken makes absolutely NO SENSE. See my above post- fried chicken is very moist- BUT TAKE THE BREADING OFF! No WAY at 6.5 months out I'm touching that stuff- even considering I actually follow plan day to day. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hold on. I eat fried / Broasted chicken. But... I remove the skin/breading before consuming. It is very tender cooked this way. Just need to remember to eat only the Protein. Not the carbs and grease peeps. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I wonder where that fish has gone? You did love it so! You looked after it like a son! And it went, wherever I did go. Is it in the cupboard? Would you like to know??? It was a lovely little fish... And it went, wherever I did go! Where can the fish be? (Did you check the bureau drawer??) It IS a most elusive fish.... And it went, wherever I did go!!! Oh! Fishy fishy fishy fish! I'm Catholic but never ate that at Christmas. Must be why I have NO CLUE WHY the OP started this thread??? I'm CARP-less!!! All of my life! Almost 50 years sans carp! I think I should sue someone for damages. Perhaps a check for me, as well?? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
First appointment was in the beginning of December. Had my approval by mid February. Scheduled surgery for early March, but postponed to March 23 so I could take a last minute road trip The key, really, is to get your ducks lined up from the beginning The minute you have your initial consult, they will tell you what you need in terms of NUT appointments, psych evals, etc. As soon as you leave, call and schedule ALL of them, even if you need to see the nut or psych a couple of times. Get the appointments on the books! One thing people don't realize- you do NOT need to do all your support classes pre op at the same place. I did mine through my hospital as well as another. They're free. Take advantage of them. Simply bring the name and date-subject matter covered to the person who is compiling your data. You can knock out 2-3 in a month around our are since we are so densely populated with bariatric facilities. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Yup.....started hitting the ECU Halloween block parties when I was a senior in high school and into my mid-20's. Great fun was had. They really did it up right back in those days. Not sure how it is now. My usual go-to costume was something stupidly easy.....some eye-black on one eye and spray paint a large "P" on a t-shirt. A black eyed pea was had. Stupid, I know. But quick and easy. Damnrite !!!! Haha! Damn right to the good times @@OKCPirate had or the French Maid outfit Lmao Not getting the black eyed pea joke... @mobello Northshore was a dream- specifically Dr. Linn, my surgeon. Likely the most well-organized bariatric team around, and I checked them all out. Found them to all be on the same message- from the doc to the nutritionist and every one in between. I see him at Glenbrook Hospital but he does all his bariatric surgeries out of Evanston. He has his whole surgical team there and likes working with a group of nurses and techs that do just that. Hope that helped. As an aside, I know several people who went thru Northwestern down in the city, and all of them, oddly enough, had post op complications. Not saying anything specific other than I can only hope it was coincidental.... Needless to say, I did NOT choose that bariatric team. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

10 days post op shooting pain [emoji33]
LisaMergs replied to Shir's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Likely what you are feeling is the healing process... When nerves are cut they need to reconnect. Sharp stabbing pain is usually what it feels like. Watch your temperature and make sure the incision sites are not overly red, hot or infected looking. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Is this center part of a hospital system? We have Advocate, NorthShore, and Northwestern all in that area. I personally went thru NorthShore University Health system. I'd prefer hospital based. Trying to recall what hospitals Schaumburg has. I know EGV has Alexian.... They are supposed to be pretty good, as well. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

@@My Bariatric Life Thank you for the comments! I truly appreciate it. Actually, without having had the BRC-A test, most doctors won't do the removal. BMI of 21 getting gastric sleeve... thoughts?
LisaMergs replied to iloveorganicmilk's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
And some of the most diabolical individuals in history easily passed as "real", "normal", people. A good liar can fake anything. That is a fact. When you read her posts and how each become progressively more odd, more fantastical, it is a red flag. I stand by my original comment to you- gently guide her to some place more suited to her needs. Which seem to be on a psychological plane more than anything else. I must say, at one point, I almost thought it was so absurdly constructed that it was a person doing research on forums of any kind, or perhaps particularly WLS related to see how a "fat" or previously "fat" person would react to a thin person's perception of body image. ...... Then I went back to my original thought that this person was just bored and looking for attention. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
BMI of 21 getting gastric sleeve... thoughts?
LisaMergs replied to iloveorganicmilk's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Alex- and this is one of the reasons I've been mostly dormant for the last couple of weeks- and I know others have, as well. This forum, from my understanding was for people legitimately considering weight-loss surgery or had had weight-loss surgery due to obesity. How any of us got to that state makes no mind. This young lady, and I'm assuming it is a woman, is not obese--whether or not she has an actual eating disorder or is just trying to fill time in her day still doesn't belong here. I think the prudent thing you could've done is reached out to her privately, perhaps suggesting another forum for people with eating disorders that don't require weight-loss surgery. Alex you know as well as the rest of us who have gone through or going through this how difficult it is. Having a person come on like this quite frankly is not only ridiculous but a slap in the face to those of us who have truly struggled at our highest weights where our life was in jeopardy due to comorbidities and such. This person does need help just in a different way and in a different venue. Calling out the members on this forum for even having to question her or who want to try and understand her as her story grows more odd by each and every post she makes seems below the standards you set forth not only for behavior but for the reason of this forum. Alex you're the face of this community, and so many of us appreciate the fact that you established it, but allowing people to come in here and basically taunt us with their nonsensical post and comments is below the belt. The fact that you reinstated her under her original identity here is quite a sad fact. Now to the original poster, I happen to live in Chicago. I happened to have graduated from one of the top universities in the Midwestern states right here in Evanston Illinois. I'd be happy to meet with you and take you to see some of my colleagues and prior professors who might be able to give you the help you need. And if you'd prefer to do it in Michigan, I have a summer home there, plenty of friends and colleagues in that state as well. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
