  1. Hello everyone I'm interested in finding out if there are any sleeve patients who have a kidney disease. I'm currently stage 1 and I only have one kidney. My first appointment is next Monday so I was just wondering if anyone has any feedback or similar situation? I noticed alot of conversation regarding getting your protein in daily. However I noticed the amount of protein mentioned in these posts is way above what I'm allowed to consume with one kidney.
  2. Did anyone's doctor not require a two week liquid only diet prior to surgery?
  3. Ok so a couple weeks ago I went to my first sleeve appointment. I wanted to take some time and think about it. So I figured the 6months diet will give me enough time to really make up my mind. Well a couple days ago I decided the sleeve was best for me and yesterday afternoon I received a call they have my approval no 6month diet necessary. Today I know I should be excited but I'm a little scared I guess because it's a reality now. They are calling me to let me knows dates today. Could everyone keep me on their prayers please just to get rid of the nervousness I have all of a sudden . I thought I would be super excited has anyone else felt like this when they were approved? Thanks everyone

  5. Ok this is absolutely not meant to scare anyone. This is solely for my own educational purposes. I'm new to this and I want to know how to decrease the chances of getting blood clots. There was a message today in group that I'm apart of on FB where someone who was sleeved 10 weeks ago passed away from a blood clot. This shocked me because I was thinking maybe 4 or 5 weeks tops you would be in danger of blood clots. Does anyone know how long I should be concerned about blood clots after I have my surgery. I want to make sure I stay on top of that. Also someone mentioned walking 15mins every hour your awake and you will be fine. I work a desk job and I plan to be back at work before 10 weeks is this the best way to avoid clots? Thanks everyone .

    Beyond Sad Request Deneied

Hi I work for a large health insurance company. What your letter is saying is that they did not have all your information at the time of your review to approve it. This happens alot clinicals didn't make it in time because they were sent separately , one sheet was cut off when it was faxed, or the whole packed arrived after the review. We do not go back looking for that missing information we notify you so your provider can follow up and find out what we need. So the fastest route is to take it to the billing dept at your dr office. The billers work closely with us. Let them see your denial it should be resubmitted for additional review. If you were denied it would say not medically necessary or not covered benefit etc.....

    Blood Clots!

oh sorry if i confused you . no I was saying the person who passed away did so after 10weeks. I plan to be back well before 10 weeks. My question was is there a best way to avoid clots and also I thought we were in the clear after about a month or so. Passing away 10 weeks later from blood clots just shook me up some thats all. iwanted to know if anyone has any suggestions like frequency of exercise each day etc.... I have not discussed being sent home on blood thinners with my Dr. at this point in time.

  13. I work in healthcare so I told my coworkers I'm having surgery that will help my kidney function. They know I have one kidney and loosing weight will help me. I also told them because of this I will need to loose weight so I appreciate if they would be supportive of my new healthy lifestyle. No one asked anything just told me they would support my new diet. So I told the truth but not all of my information was needed. If they ask specific procedures just let them know your are processing this your self right now and prefer not to go into extreme detail at this moment in time.

  15. Hello everyone I'm starting my journey to weight-loss on Feb 22. I have read a lot of testimonials and I'm so thankful to each and everyone of you. My question is actually regarding if anyone is doing this because they don't have a choice. What I mean by that is I have major health issues. Stroke at 30, renal disease , one kidney, and high blood pressure. Every woman in my family this includes my great gradma, grandma, mom, and aunt all had heartattacks. Me and my mom are the only two left and I have 2 daughter. One of which is obese and following my footsteps. I have been overweight for 25 years and I'm 37. I fear my life is in danger and I'm next for a heartattack if nothing is done now. I have struggled for so long everyone because obesity is normal in my family. Food is a reward and comfort. Weight-loss is so difficult and as soon as I get started a week later I quit. I did loose 90 lbs but ended up putting that back on plus more. That came on the heels of my divorce so I know that was stress related not intentional. I guess I'm just looking for some encouragement because I feel so ashamed I can't loose the weight and keep it off on my own. I see so many who are happy about their surgery in here but I feel like I failed myself. Any advice on how I can change my thinking moving forward in this process? Thank you in advance for your support.
  16. Oh wow thanks. I was a vegetarian for 4 years and I loved it. I'm considering going back and I'm happy to hear that you did well. I will definitely make sure I talk to my doctors and stay hydrated. Yes I would like to join your group I will check it out on Facebook now.

Wow Shiloh I'm happy for you. I haven't even gotten to the point of telling others. I know with what I'm going through now if one person says you can do it on your own I'm back in my dissappointment mode. I have only told my husband and he is very supportive he wants me healthy and happy so he is on board no matter my decision. I haven't even shared this with my kids yet. I will wait until I start the process and educate myself more before I decide to share. But thank you for letting me know I'm not the only one our here feeling the way that I do.

Thanks everyone you have really helped me feel better. I think my focus may need to shift from self pity to being proud of myself for a new healthy lifestyle.
