From the album: 3 months progress!
-
I was banded on 2/18/08 and had my 3rd fill last week. It was too much. I couldn't even get liquids down and I had to go back in and get 1/2 cc taken out. Any one else have that?

I'm 3 1/2 months out and still get that pain every now & then. I was told that every time you move in a new way the port will pull on your muscle and new scar tissue has to form. I would still call your doc & let him know what's going on so they can chart it.

You won't even feel the needle for the fill. You will feel the needle with the lidacain that numbs you, but it's quick and feels like a pinch.

I have been having a lot more trouble with cramps than before my surgery. Anyone else have this problem?

Help! Need some words of encourangments
JenniPenni replied to vkcse03's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found that sleeping in a recliner the first few nights really helped. You won't get the sleep you're used to, but it's better than none. If you're pain pills aren't helping, call your doctor. I only took tylenol the first week because the codiene they gave me made me sick...so they gave me some darvacet and that REALLY helped. -
Post surgery pains - not sure if it is normal
JenniPenni replied to realme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Call your doctor. It is normal to have severe pain in the port area, but you should be able to breath ok. -
I was also banded on 2/18 and had my second fill 3 weeks ago. I do feel a lot more restriction this time and have to be careful or things do get stuck, but I've also hit a plateau and I know I have to step it up a little..exercise more & stick to the diet rules. I've only lost 3 lbs in the last 2 weeks. Kind of a let down after the first 6 weeks and losing 25 lbs.

3rd week post op diet and feeling weak
JenniPenni replied to weightisover's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I felt very weak until I could start eating solid foods again. But you do lose weight the fastest in that first 4-6 weeks, so even tho your feeling weak, just remember that you are losing and when you do start eating solids, they will taste Soooo good! -
why are people such HATERS!!!!???
JenniPenni replied to gg2007BandSTAR's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need to do what is right for you. Remember that nurses are people too, and there are knowledgable ones and and ones that think they are. My advice would be to talk to a nurse in a bariatric doctors office. They would be the ones who could really answer your questions, but in the end the only person who's opinion counts is you. -
I lost 26 lbs the first month. After that, the weight loss slows quite a bit and you have to work harder at it.

10 days out and in SEVERE pain...
JenniPenni replied to Aanniiuuxx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also had a lot of unexpected pain. My doctor told me that it was probably nerve damage. It does go away. I think my severe pain went away about 3 weeks out, but I was still "sore" for another month. I'm 3 months out now and I still get some soreness every now and then, but it's not severe, kind of like how you fill after doing a lot of sit-ups. -
Just a few questions...

I was late the first month after surgery. It became regular again after that. -

had my 1st fill but as nothing is there!!!
JenniPenni replied to salam's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also had no restriction with my first fill. When I went in for my second, the PA said that was normal. After the second, I can definately feel restriction. I have to be careful to eat slowly and chew well or food will get stuck. -
Pulling a Star Jones...?
JenniPenni replied to futurefinemama's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I work in the medical clinic where I had my surgery. Everyone knows and I don't care. I did it for me and I feel that no one can understand that unless they have walked in my shoes. Afterwards, people came out of the woodwork from all over the clinic to tell me that the also had lap band surgery and if I had any questions at all I could come to them. Just about everyone has been extremly supportive. -
How long did you have to wait for your first fill?
JenniPenni replied to Sapphire904's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I definately feel a change. I have to have liquids for 24hrs after the fill, but even with just liquids, they go down much slower and I can feel it sitting in my stomach for longer. -
5 Days Post Op & sharp pains! (not shoulder tip)
JenniPenni replied to MelDiva's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had nerve pain after my surgery and it really freaked me out. It wasn't near my port so I thought something was wrong. It lasted about 2 weeks and is now a distant memory. (I'm 6 weeks out) -

I had my first fill yesterday, exactly 6 weeks after the surgery. -

Both excited and nervous in Oregon
JenniPenni replied to Ricky's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was banded by Dr Tersigni 15 days ago. He's wonderful and so is his staff. I've lost 16 lbs in just 2 weeks! Good luck to you!
