Calling all February 1st Sleevers!
JLilley417 replied to arenea's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved on feb 3rd but it seems this chat is the closest to my date...February 3rd sleepers don't have a thread so I hope you guys don't mind if I jump in conversation. -
How soon after the surgery can i have alcohol?
JLilley417 replied to stasy-prime's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The real answer? Whenever you want. Whether you tolerate it or not is a different story. Most people will tell you to wait the recommended time or not to sabotage yourself. I'm not one of them. I travel for a living and I started being able to enjoy a few cocktails at 3 weeks out. I enjoy long islands without the Coke and hurricanes. Is it full of sugar and not the best decision? Yep. Has it slowed down my weight loss? Not at all. Did my tolerance change from pre-op? Nope...and I'm still losing 7-9 lbs a week. Everyone's journey is different. If you learn moderation and your sleeve can tolerate it... -
I eat Taco Bell all the time. I was sleeved on 2/3 and I'm down 54lbs. I eat a soft taco or a mini shredded chicken quesadilla. One of either fills me up and goes down fine.

Sleeved on the 3rd and down 44lbs. Honestly, I've been kind of pushing the diet to see what if anything causes discomfort or dumping. Salmon has been the only meat that isn't sitting well...all other fish does fine. I eat way too much chili and chicken noodle soup. A tamale even went down great. I maybe have had some drinks too. So far smooth sailing and weight still melting off. -

Advice: "No food tastes as good as skinny feels." I was told that pre op. And I tell you, every pant size and shirt size I go down, I'd trade a week of fast food for in a heartbeat.

On my morning of surgery a female patient came in and got in the hospital bed next to me because it was her morning of surgery as well. The doctor cancelled her surgery because she put on 5lbs during her pre op diet. He told her to come back when she took it more seriously.

What should I eat to get ready for surgery
JLilley417 replied to Kgacia's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I did two protein shakes a day and ate a lean dinner (under 6oz of chicken beef or fish and vegetables). If you do that and drink clear liquids you'll drop a significant amount of weight pre-op. I even had a cheat meal going out to eat with the family a couple times and it didn't affect weight loss. My doctor did reschedule the girl in the hospital bed next to me's surgery on the day of because she gained 5lbs on her "pre op diet." Take it seriously and start practicing for the post op diet because it is life changing. -
I hate to say it...but from the cheap seats (spectators view)...you're probably much better off. A relationship is a two way street, give and take...seems he only cared about himself. You don't need that crap or negativity in your life. You're worth more.

lost 110 LB in 4 months
JLilley417 replied to Yazan Masa's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Nice. I'm hoping to have similar success. Started at 388, sleeved on feb 3rd, currently 351. Did you see any slowdown in the 2nd-4th month or did the gym keep it melting off? -

Feb 3rd. Lost 14 pre-op, 23.5 since surgery. Going pretty well so far!Are you still feeling any discomfort and are you able to get all of your Protein and liquids consistently? Congrats on the weight loss, you are doing wonderful Oh what food stage at you on? No discomfort, that ended a few days ago. I'm on purée stage two. So far I've made seafood bisque and pizza Soup (it was incredible) and eat about 2/3 of a cup. I also tried Wendy's chili, but wasn't a fan. My favorite was puréed Campbell's chicken enchilada soup. It's pretty easy for me to get 64oz of liquids a day. I've been at 30-45g of protein from shakes and then add onto that whatever I get from Soups. -

I'm surprised so many people stay the night in the hospital. I had my surgery at 9:30 am and was discharged to go home at 2:45pm. -

I found that the hernia made it difficult to swallow anything for the first 4 days. Even a tiny sip of water felt like it was getting caught in my throat. The feeling would pass quickly but it was hard to even drink one shake and one bottle of water a day. When asked they said it was the hernia and would go away after 7 days. It was practically gone on day 5. -

I was sleeved and had a hiatal hernia fixed on the third. The first few days recovering were kinda rough, but I feel pretty good now. Down 17lbs since surgery. Seems kind of unreal.
