The sports bottle is by contigo. I found it on Amazon. The best part about it is that there is no condensation. Thanks.

Did anyone use this doctor in Mexico and if so what was your experience?
-
I just had surgery on 4/15/16 and I too am getting use to the Protein intake. I recently found a sports bottle that keeps liquids cool for 20 hours. It cost me about $20. I found a low calorie juice that I like and I mix in half of a New whey 42g protein mix with the drink (so far watermelon is my favorite). I keep the bottle with me and sip all morning. The bottle holds 20 oz of liquid. In the afternoon I do the same thing. By the end of the day with my normal animal protein for Breakfast, lunch and dinner I reach my protein goal. Like most people by the time I eat protein first there is little room for anything else. I also alway keep the bottle with me as a reminder that I should be drinking. Like most things if I don't see the liquid I won't drink it. I also found that if I keep a bottle of Water handy when driving home, walking in the grocery store or just watching TV it jogs my memory that I should be sipping. Hope this helps.

I just had surgery on 4/15 and have decided that I'm not going to weigh myself everyday. I know ..... crazy right!!!! I had surgery to become healthy - period and the last thing I need is another thing in my life to stress about. I'm going to trust in the program and see what happens. I'm not saying I'm not ever getting on a scale again but for these first few months it's going to be only at doctors visits. Anybody else out there not weighing themselves every 10 minutes to see how much weight they have lost?

Self Payer in Florida
april2003 replied to purpleapple's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I too live in Florida and found that the pricing was just too high. My insurance also excluded vsg. So for $5k me and my daughter went to TJ where I had the surgery on 4/15/16. Everything went well. Keep in mind that if you are a self pay in the US you get 0-1 nights in the hospital after surgery. In TJ I was in the hospital for 3 nights. You can't beat the pricing and the service. Every thing in MX is about you. I plan to return to MX for my mommy makeover in 2 years. -
Hi elissa33. I had my surgery on 4/15/16 in TJ and although the service and experience was great I must say - there is no place like home. I couldn't wait to get back to the USA. I would totally do it again but I'm glad to be back! I was at the Marriott from 4/17/16-4/18/16. Only had a few spoonfuls of broth and some Jello. I could barely stomach either so I went with the bottled Water and G2. Good luck on your journey!

Giving up the scale...
april2003 replied to april2003's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I read this website a lot and I just can't believe that people obsess about stalls after only a few days or weeks after surgery. Because I had my surgery in Mexico I'm more obsessed and concerned with those Spanish documents I signed. Did I give away my first born [emoji33]. With the amount of food I'm eating at this point there is no way that I'm not going to loss some sort of weight in the coming years and as long as I'm not as big as I am now I consider that a win!! I fully understand that this is a tool and not a magic surgery that's going to instantly make me 6 sizes smaller. Good luck to all of you. -
I'm a legal assistant and will tell you from experience that the sooner you have this looked at the better. I have one in the exact same area and its triggered mostly by stress. I've only had to have it lanced once and it hurt like a (insert anything really, really painful here). So now when I feel it coming on I immediately make a call to the doctor for antibiotics which usually do the trick. But if you wait too late even those won't help you. I just had my surgery on 4/15 and thankfully mine hasn't flared up from the surgery. Good luck to you!

Has anyone's employer paid for their surgery?
april2003 replied to PJinTenn's topic in Insurance & Financing
Sounds like MX might be a better option for you. This surgery is excluded from my healthcare coverage as well so I took my 5k and booked the surgery in MX. I personally think it's less stress than having to jump through the hoops and max out credit cards. The cheapest price I could find in the states for the surgery was $10,500 in Boca Raton but it was still more than I could afford without taking out loans. The 5k that I'm spending on surgery includes 2 plane tickets for me and my daughter. Good luck! -
Monie- I'm April 15th in Mexico. I read in another post the you are in Sunrise, FL and so am I. We should keep in touch.

Getting sleeve done on April 8th in Tijuana Mexico.. !
april2003 replied to jmdow1's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I'm having mine done in Mexico on 4/15 because my employee is self insured and does not cover the procedure. So I could either take out a small loan to have it done in the US for 11k or more or I could take the 5k from my savings and have everything paid in full with no hoops to jump through and have it done when I want it done which is now. I chose the ladder. -
First Day (BaratricPal)
april2003 replied to Monie45's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OMG Monie45. I'm April and I live in Sunrise, FL as well. I'm off to MX next week to have surgery. We should definitely stay in touch. I'm on day 4 of my preop and so far so good. I'm a little tired of the shakes but I'm sticking with it. I was beginning to think I was the only one in Sunrise going through this. I'm so glad you posted. -
Did Anyone start taking biotin PRIOR to surgery to prevent hair loss? I'm about a month out from surgery and want to start taking biotin in hopes of cutting down on the hair loss. Did anyone else try this and if so how did it work for you?
-
Thanks for all the information. I already take it as part of my daily Vitamin routine, just in a smaller dose than I have read that people are taking for hair loss. I will continue to take my normal dose and try to get my protein in after surgery. Thank you for all your responses.

Anyone having surgery in April 2016 in Tijuana Mexico?
april2003 replied to Lizaynez7's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I'm going with Dr. Pasten in Tijuana on 4/15/16. He works out of Green & Health Hospital. I don't have FB yet but I plan to sign up this weekend just so that I can communicate with other sleevers. I want to document my experience from start to finish! [emoji4] -
Wow, 14!! Good for you and your parents for taking charge of your health at an early age. I'm scheduled for 4/15 and my 13 year old daughter will be attending with me since my husband has to work. I'm hoping that my eating better will help her to eat better and lose a few pounds. How are you feeling now that a few days have passed?

What was your 'a-ha' moment?
april2003 replied to HappilyEverAfter44's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a couple of moments. First, my brother died last March from complications with diabetes and I knew I didn't want to follow in his steps. Fast forward to January 2016 and I had blood work done and was told that my numbers were high and the doctor wanted to start me on diabetes medicine. I begged the doctor for 3 months to try and get the weight off before starting another medication (I already take blood pressure meds) and she agreed. Once I got out, I sat in my car and had a good cry. I pulled myself together, drove home and told my husband that I'm going to have the surgery done. He was great and never questioned it - just asked how he could help me reach my goal. I'm set for 4/15 in Mexico. -
Any April 2016 sleevers out there?
april2003 replied to bluemangos's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm set for April 15th in Mexico. It seems that every moment of the day I'm thinking about it. It's very hard to concentrate on work these days. I too am a secret sleever. Only my husband and oldest daughter (13) know. News travels fast in the office and I won't share until I'm ready. Don't have FB but I'm seriously considering it just to be part of your "secret group". -
How long before you felt ready to return to work?
april2003 replied to Sparkles!!'s topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
My surgery is set for April 15th and I plan on being back at work the following Thursday. I too have a desk job so I'm hoping that everything will go smoothly. Still hasn't REALLY set in that this is happening but I'm sure it will soon enough.
