I am so happy to see this. I use Isopure unflavored which is a whey Protein. I have been telling my husband that I get heart palpitations every time I use it. He didn't think so. I had did a google search but nothing really came up so I thought I was tripping. I was going to ask my dr. about it at next appointment. So glad I am not the only one . Bummed Out After Watching "My 600 Lb Life: Where Are They Now?"
reinventingmyself replied to Proud2BMe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
We have to remember that this show is edited. Can't expect to see a year worth discussions, eating, dr. Visits and counseling in an hour show. The producers know what to show to get people to watch. At the end of the day it is still all about ratings. It may not appear that Dr. Now is the softest most empathetic dr. However, he operate on patients that many doctors will not even consider. But many of the patients blame any and everything for their weight issues. Many people were abused or had a difficult child hood etc. but aren't over weight. Many fail to take the responsibility for getting to the size that they are. But can't blame dr for showing tough love as many of the posters do on this forum! I am a hairstylist and really think it is hormonal. I would see it in the salon all the time. Especially during pregnancy and afterwards. We would start doing Protein and conditioning treatments before and after delivery. Clients would eat a balanced diet and take all the precautionary steps. But some clients would lose a ton of their hair and some none at all. All hormonal. I started taking Biotin etc and take good care of my hair and hoping it doesnt shed. But I had a hysterectomy a few yrs ago (age 31) and I lost a lot of hair. My hormones were really out of wack. I also have been taking bcp as a hormone replacement. I am hoping since I haven't had a fluctuation of hormones since surgery that my hair won't shed. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App

Honestly why r men A****? 5days post op
reinventingmyself replied to choicemun's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hopefully, he isn't doing it out of spite. I agree with previous posters. If there isnt cooking in the home, especially if you were the main person providing meals, then it may seem as if he is eating out and rubbing it in your face. But that may not be the case. I know I had that talk with my hubby before surgery. What I did was pre-prepped meals. My husband is not a picky eater and love veggies. I don't. So I took the opportunity to fix him healthy meals with food that was not tempting to me. He loved it and wouldn't eat around me until I told him it was ok. Then after surgery I still made him meals for the entire week. I wasn't tempted since I didn't have an appetite and he got to enjoy meals that I wouldn't normally cook. That kept me from being tempted from fast food, which I loved. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App -
My nut said 700-900 for the first year. After that 1000-1400. But to focus on Protein and fluids. I barely get to 700 and dont really count calories since everything I eat is low- cal and small portions. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App

How much exercise do you do weekly?
reinventingmyself replied to ididit34's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My program wants us to exercise 300 min a week. I am almost getting that amount. Just walking until I am cleared from surgeon to do more. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App -

Trouble Breathing
reinventingmyself replied to CuteChemist's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the sleeve recently and experienced this and had no issues prior. I was 199 lbs on surgery day so wasn't my weight causing it. I actually went to ER because I was struggling. Long story short it was my pain meds. I was taking liquid narcotics and I read the bottle. Sure enough on the bottle it stated may cause difficulty breathing. I threw it right out. Just dealt with a little discomfort. I didn't care. After about a week after stopping it my breathing got back to normal. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App -
Crackers?
reinventingmyself replied to 2ndtimesacharm's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Crackers are on our approved list for soft goods along with Protein. I just had a couple a few min. ago. I don't have an issue with feeling restriction with them and I limit myself. Each Dr and nutritionist plan is different. You are going to get differing opinions so do what is best for you as long as it coincide with your Nut recommendation Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App -
Prepping your skin for weight loss surgery
reinventingmyself replied to Andi07's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Genetics, age, and how long your skin has been stretched are the major factors. If it bounced back from kids you may do well. Someone in my support group said she uses Goldbond Protein lotion and her skin did well. I started using that before surgery. I am not expecting to have loose skin since my weight is in my hips and booty. But I take all my Vitamins, started exercising -too early for weights now tho and trying to get in protein and Water. Liver shrinking diet.. Help!
reinventingmyself replied to 1hotmamaof2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I was all liquids. I wish I could have had a small dinner. So you can imagine the struggle I had. Popsicles, sugar-free Jello, try different Protein shakes but that's about it. Just try to stay busy and keep your mind off of food. Try not to watch a lot of tv with all the fast food commercials. But once you get past it post-op diet will be a lot easier! Exercise/Lifting 1 Week Post Op?
reinventingmyself replied to nyhila's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was able to drive within a few days. When I was no longer on pain meds. But I waited for 2 weeks since my hubby took 2 weeks off so he chauffeured me around. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App -
Exercise/Lifting 1 Week Post Op?
reinventingmyself replied to nyhila's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My Dr. said not to lift anything over 10 lbs for six weeks. I listen because I have had multiple abdominal surgeries and after one of them I was lifting-nothing major and developed a hernia in my incision line. Lesson learned because I had to walk around with a bulge sticking out from.my stomach. I was small then so to me it was noticeable. Had to get it repaired during my next surgery. So now I don't lift or strain what so ever. Hubby knows that it will just sit there until he is home and able to do it. So be careful. You will hate to cause additional issues! Not tolerating whey protein...
reinventingmyself replied to Mogwaicat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So glad to see this post. I am 3 weeks post-op and I keep telling my husband that the Protein shakes causes my heart to race. I can only tolerate whey protein powder unflavored with lactose free milk. It causes my heart to race too but the only one I can tolerate since it has no taste. Disgusted by meat?
reinventingmyself replied to Thucydides's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand. Before surgery I loved meat. I am 3 weeks post-op and I am allowed soft meats such as turkey, chicken and tuna and have no desire for it. I just realized yesterday that I had not even had any since surgery. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App -
Food Please
reinventingmyself replied to ResizingRebecca's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on full liquids for 2 weeks and then moved on to soft foods. I am on that for 4 weeks. I actually could have ate them as part of my full liquid but it would have to be thinned out. Make sure it is without the peelings. But I wouldn't make them thick but not soupy either since they are really soft. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App -
I had the sleeve. My program Nut says 1st year 700-900 calories and 12-36 mths 1000-1400. 1/2-1 cup per meal. I haven't gotten an actual carb count limit yet. But she stresses that we really need to eat carbs. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App

Protein, protein, protein!
reinventingmyself replied to candykane88's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was able to tolerate Protein drinks pre-op but now not so much. I purchased the Isopure unflavored Protein powder. 1 scoop 25g protein and no taste. I mix it with 1% lactose free milk and sprinkle some sugar free hot cocoa mix and make my own chocolate Protein shake without the aftertaste. It is a lot more economical as well. Also add protein powder to soup etc. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App -
Hormones or lack of
reinventingmyself replied to Brittneysue12345's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 39 and had hysterectomy at 32. I take birth control pills as my hormone replacement. I did not have to stop taking mines either. Dr. even let me take it the morning of surgery with a sip of Water. No way I could have stopped taking them. Not ready for menopause! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App -
Sleeved 2/24/16
reinventingmyself replied to EC2016's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I am almost 3 weeks out and have lost 5 lbs since surgery. I am excited about my 5. I don't compare my weight loss to others. I have been at same weight for @4 days now. Seeing the same number still doesn't discourage me because I know eventually the weight is going to come off. My focus is trying to reach Protein and Fluid goals. I haven't met both yet but that will happen too. I didn't get on scale once I got home from the hospital but I am sure I was at least 7-8 lbs heavier from iv fluids. So just keep doing what you are doing and stay off the scale if the number is going to discourage you. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App
