    Can't eat

I've always had problems w this after my surgery (7yrs ago) I had 8 EGD's done within the first 2 years I gained 74lbs from the 3rd yr to the 7th year not caring about how I ate I ate what I knew I could keep down. This year I finally got to the point I could no longer keep food down and liquids followed. I found a dr who was able to get a revision approved since my new insurance didn't cover weight loss surgery. I've lost 40lbs since my surgery on March 23rd my weight loss has stopped and again I'm struggling keeping food down. 2 bites and I feel like it's just stuck. Hang in there I once again am reaching out to a different surgeon with hopes one day one might get it right.

    Bypass vs. Sleeve

I developed an ulcer do to miscommunication from the dr that performed my first bypass. It was discovered approx 3 months after my bypass when I switched dr's at this time it was addressed and was treated w medication however it continued to get worse as time went by. For the past 6 months I've been vomiting so I avoided foods I thought to be causing it only to get to where I am now where it doesn't matter what I eat or drink nothing is staying but the calories (not losing weight at all). My dr tells me since my first procedure was done they have learned new ways to cut the stomach to avoid stretching he also talks of a hormone they now remove to makes you hungry. Whatever works thou as I'm tired of being in pain not knowing which hurts worse the hiatal hernia or the ulcer.

    Bypass vs. Sleeve

Mina it's not just the sleeve...I had the bypass in 2009 and I too am having all the issues you are having. I've gained back 67lbs of the 242 I lost and after 8 EGD's, the discovery of an ulcer in my new stomach and unable to keep ANYTHING down including water (I eat to survive now) I'm having my revision on the 28th of this month after my battle w the insurance company. Good luck to you and hope you stay in touch on your progress as I will do the same.
  4. Gina, you need to get a dr to perform and EGD. I had the same issues and had 8 EGDS done one the first 2 years post op to learn After switching dr's for the last one that I had scar tissue that needed to be removed after that I was able to keep food down due to him "cleaning up that mess". Then bad news followed over the next 3 years I started to gain weight, developed a n ulcer and now a hiatal hernia in my new pouch. I am 6 years post op and getting ready to undergo a revision to remove the ulcer. This is something that you should now ignore. Please talk to your dr asap and if nothing else get a second opinion.

    Bypass vs. Sleeve

I had the bypass and am now 6 years post op w complications. My new dr is going in and removing the hormone producing part of the stomach along when redoing the cut on my stomach. He explains back when I had it done they cut the stomach different which proved in many patients around the 3 year mark for their stomach to start stretching and taking a new sharp which resulted in weight gain. Since then they perform of differently.

    Aetna insurance

A lot of insurances don't cover it. I switched jobs to an employer who's insurance I knew covered it. Since my surgery I have moved and along w that have switched jobs and of course insurance and I'm having issues with complications from my surgery. My new insurance has an exclusion in the policy however the exclusion does not excluded complications from weight loss surgery therefore I'm going to be able to have my revision.
