DavidBC started following how much weight to lose in a week, Cpap machine nightmare and Who's taking fiber? TMI
-
Does your CPAP machine have an auto, bi-level or c-flex mode? These options all make it easier to exhale. I was unable to use a machine without a c-flex mode but with it have been using one for 15 years.

Benefiber in the morning, stool softener with lunch and Miralax after dinner every day in the only way I've stayed regular. And I also eat beans daily.

That's amazing @@DavidOso! If I can get anywhere close to losing 238 lbs in a year I'll be thrilled!

how much weight to lose in a week
DavidBC replied to nervousnelly719's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's easier for the big guys...I've averaged 7.2 lbs per week overall and lately its been 5 lbs per week. I'm only 6 weeks out from surgery. -
DavidBC started following Easy to swallow vitamins/supplements, PPI's forever?, Maybe TMI? and and 2 others

PPI's forever?
DavidBC replied to justhere4theshow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took mine for the first 4 weeks after surgery. I now use an occasional Pepcid when needed. -

I had similar issues....turns out the sugar alcohol in the calcium supplements were causing it. I believe it was called maltitol. Any sweetener that ends in 'tol' can disagree with some of us.

I don't know if he's the best but Dr Johnson is a good one! I'm doing great after 5 weeks! Been dropping 5 to 6 lbs per week and no real problems once I got the proper amount of Fiber down. Like many folks say I just wished I would have done this sooner! -

@@DavidOso by throwing out I meant dropped them off at Goodwill yesterday afternoon. Always use those tax deductions when I can get them !

My update - Tomorrow will be 5 weeks since surgery for me and things are going great! I'm down 67 lbs since my pre-op diet started and 31 lbs since being sleeved. Everyday I notice something new that has improved with my life...whether it's getting into a car or having more energy throughout the day. My wife and I spent Saturday morning throwing out my biggest clothes and going through my older ones seeing what I can fit into now. We're also making plans to travel that we've been putting off for years...waiting for me to 'lose the weight'. We'll now it's finally happening!

Seriously, how do you get all of your protein in?!
DavidBC replied to mlgok's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I quit the Protein shakes 2 weeks post-op because of the terrible constipation they gave me. I get my protein now through eggs, chicken, tuna, and...beans! Beans have protein and fiber! -
Week 1 post op but can stomach solids...
DavidBC replied to Aimee-Belle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Returning to the original topic...Some doctors are much less conservative in their post-op eating approach. I was sleeved 3 weeks ago tomorrow and instructed to begin soft foods on day 8 after surgery. That included scrambled eggs, chicken, fish, Beans, cooked veggies (but no corn or celery) and fruits. We had no puree phase at all. In 2 more weeks I can eat salads and crunchy foods. I've had no issues at all. In fact I'm doing great and am down 22 lbs in those 3 weeks and 58 total. My doctor is part of a very respected office called Atlanta Bariatrics - http://atlantabariatrics.com/ - and he does about 30 sleeves a month and has been for years.Believe me I researched him before committing to the surgery. Of course everyone is different so you should follow your doctor's advice. -

Going great! It's been 2 weeks and I'm down 17 lbs. since surgery and 53 lbs. overall. I've had no issues to speak of except trying to get my fiber/miralax dosage ironed out and finding a calcium pill I can take. I go to my first post-opt appt with Dr. Johnson tomorrow. Very glad I made this decision and looking forward to traveling a lot more in the years to come. -
100 lbs. after 4 months is great! I hope to match that! Today I hit 50 lbs. since I started my pre-opt diet 6 weeks ago and 14 since surgery 10 days ago. Feeling better every day!

BA Calcium chewables flavors
DavidBC replied to jea(n__n)ette's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Be warned - the Bariatric Advantage Calcium Chewables are loaded with maltitol (a sugar alcohol) that act as a rather potent laxative. I know thus first hand.
