BLEH! I have sugery on November the 18th..and live on the 3rd floor
DiSanders replied to Firecallie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am getting my band the Monday AFTER Thanksgiving--I have had 37 Thanksgivings-I'll take living without the "feasts" to lost this weight. I know it's cliche, but I will swear to the fact that "nothing tastes as good as being thin feels." Even though I was only thin for about 6 months and was self-conscious and felt fat the entire time! I remember telling my husband I was into a size 6 and he said, "How soon til the 4?" He wasn't being knowingly mean-he just thought all women were capable of fitting into that size-like his mom and first wife! -
I have decided to make today my day. Even though I am three weeks away from surgery, today is the day I have decided to apply the "mental band." Ever since I scheduled my surgery I have been eating everything I want, whenever I want it. It should make me feel great, right? I finally gave myself permission to eat all of the "no no" foods. Instead I am miserable. I hate the fact that my shirts are riding up and my pants are rolling down...I feel sooooo out of control. One of my biggest problems is the fact that my classroom is across from the cafeteria. Does everyone remember cafeteria food? Grilled cheese and tomato soup Fridays? When my room was upstairs I never even looked at the cafeteria. Now I am eager for that first lunch bell. Today I just decided "enough is enough." I started weaning myself off the diet cokes--one caffeine free for one regular. Tomorrow I am even going to add water! I am feeling so depressed right now because I have a MAJOR function this weekend in NYC and I hate how I look. To make matters worse, my husband's first wife will be there, and she is a size 0. My sister in law is also a size 2 or 4, and my mother-in-law. I feel like a Viking around these people. My husband doesn't make me feel bad-I do it to myself. Does anyone have any pearls of wisdom to get me through this weekend?

I am on a prescription for IBS now (zelnorm), Should I continue to take it after the surgery?

Hello, everyone. I am scheduled to have the lap band surgery on November 28th. I am having the surgery done at the Molding Clinic in Tijuana. I am so excited and ready to get off this merry-go-round of dieting and re-gaining. I'm not sure how much I weight right now, but it is probably around 220. I am 5'6. I need to lose around 70 pounds, and it seems so insurmountable right now. I have two questions... 1) I have read about a pre-surgery diet. Is this normal? My patient coordinator has not mentioned anything. 2) I am ADDICTED to diet coke. Should I try to wean myself off it now, or after the surgery? I look forward to hearing from you all...

toned fat-lol-That is me-a solid block. My husband always says, "It's not a little butt, but it's a hard butt!" Hoping to peel away the big part and by BUFF!

Let me introduce myself!

congratulations on your weight loss. To lose 75 pounds seems so out of the question for me right now-i am having a hard time envisioning myself out of the fat clothes! -
I'm one day ahead of you! Aren't you getting excited?? My doctor didn't put me any diet, but I am going to try to do all liquid for the few days before my surgery.

I am going to give up diet coke and wine aftermy surgery. I'm looking at it as an opportunity to "detox" my body of all the nasty stuff I've been giving it. I can't believe you lost so much weight giving up diet coke! I have heard that-I'm thinking of all the money I'll save-I probably drink 6-8 a day... -
A dream thread. They often say a lot (or nothing at all)

Me, too! I love my dreams so much that I hate to wake up! I talk, laugh, cry in my sleep---it's way more exciting than reality! -
You are the first post that mentions the gall bladder. Some of the sites I have researched say that the gall bladder may be removed at the time of the surgery to prevent future complications. Is this common? My doctor has not mentioned ANY pre-surgery diet. With Thanksgiving three days before I fly out, I am a little nervous!

I'm like you-I look at pictures where I hated myself-and I'd love to be that size again! I remember thinking that 170 was HUGE-now I'll take it gladly!

You are the first person to mention drinking. This is definitely my biggest problem, and it's going to be the hardest to get a handle on after my surgery. I drink wine every night. I start when I am fixing dinner, and I don;t stop until I go to bed. I have read plenty of info telling me to get a handle on this before I get banded, but I have tried with no luck.

Looking for November 2005 Banders!

I am going to have the surgery either the 28th or the 29th, depending on how quickly my tests and everything are done. Where are oyu having yours done? -
Holy smokes! Everything I am reading says "absolutely no caffeine" and "absolutely no carbonation!" How are you keeping all this down? This scares me that I will fall into the "cheat mode."

Kare, I will use you as my work-out role model! Last December I hired a personal trainer and was really diligent with my workouts. I lost about 12 pounds but got discouraged when I didn't see immediate results. Now I look back at where I was headed (looking much better!) and clothes that were fitting that no longer are, and I am so depressed. I made a feeble attempt to get back into the swing of things but let myself get intimidated by the "booty-ful people" working out alongside me.
