Where is everyone from City & State
marroyo replied to TammyLee66's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm from CT -
Hi everyone I was sleeved on 12/15 and was in process before for about 1 year before getting my surgery. Since surgery I have been suffering from depression and anxiety. Some days are better than others. I am not sure why I feel this way. So many people are happy and I know I should be too but I am not. Will these feelings ever go away? I am so worried about long term complications and effects of having the sleeve. I just want to be happy again. Also the hair loss has started how long will this last? I have been taking 5000 mg Biotin 2x daily and using niacin shampoo about once per week. Any advice or suggestions or just words of encouragement would be helpful. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Thank you everyone for your support during that time after my surgery where I was really struggling. I am doing better now and am happy to say I am not sad anymore. I really do appreciate everyone's words of encouragement and support. Thanks again

Hi everyone just an update I am doing so much better emotionally. It's been over a year since by surgery on 12/15/15. I have not been losing weight like I used to been kinda stuck at the same weight. Does anyone has suggestions for me on how to get myself back on track? Thanks

Hi evèryone I was sleeved 12/15/15 and am still struggling with anxiety and depression. I know I had surgery to get healthier and have been losing weight. Hw217 sw207 cw172 height 5'3. Anyone else have those similar stats and how do you feel now? Sometimes I feel as though my BMI was not high enough for surgery even though I know I was obese. I'm struggling with the choice I made to have surgery and get so worried about long term complications that can arise. Anyone who is further out than me if you can offer me guidance to help ease my worries. What are the chances of developing a complication 3 months out from surgery should I still be worried? How to deal with my feelings of anxiety and depression and realize this was a positive change in my life? I need support from people who have been on this journey so I can feel better about the choice I made. Thanks everyone. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

3 weeks post VSG and depression is AWFUL
marroyo replied to jessi29's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
In the beginning I also was extremely sad and depressed and found no joy. I really thought it would not get better and had regretted the surgery so much. Now almost 6 months out I feel so much better. I am not sad and depressed but have found joy again. I thought I would never feel good again and cried daily. It was really bad especially when my three kids ages 14, 11, and 8 saw me this way. But with therapy and lots of support from sites like this I was able to push through. It WILL get better in time this journey has been life changing for me and ha been one of the hardest things I have done but I am healthier now for myself and my children so I know it was the right choice. Depression after Wls? Will sris help?
marroyo replied to melyssafaye's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I also went through a really bad depression as well as anxiety attacks. If you read some of my other posts I also felt the same way you did. I was crying constantly and had no joy. I went back to work after 6 weeks and I was probably at the worst in my feelings. I started therapy and am feeling so much better. For me I felt when I was cleared for regular foods and was eating a little more I also started to feel better. I have three children ages 14, 11, and 8 this was so hard for me to know they saw me go through this. I was so sad all day somedays I did not even get out of bed it was too hard. With time and support I was able to find a way to cope and get back into life. It will get better. I remember people saying that to me and I could hear them but I truly believed I would never feel better but now almost 6 months out I do feel better. Some days are still hard but things do get easier and life will be better. We are all here to support you on your journey. All the kind words I received from so many when I was struggling really helped me pull through and I hope can help you as well. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Just an update. It's now been almost 6 months since my surgery and I am feeling much better. Those first few months dealing with depression and anxiety was so difficult for me. I appreciate all the support I received from everyone and words of encouragement. Back then I really thought I would never feel better but I was wrong. I do feel better and m healthier than I have been in a long time. Again thanks for everyone who helped me get through that very emotional period I was dealing with. My depression/anxiety was well controlled before my surgery and now it's back, so I can understand. I have the same thoughts you do about the future. My husband had gastric bypass 2 weeks before me and he is doing SO good and feeling great. My nurse told me this week that generally the sleeve is harder for the 1st 3 months than the bypass (and I originally wanted the bypass but my surgeon suggested sleeve). Would have been nice to know before surgery. I have hopes that it will get better- not feeling yourself mentally or physically can be miserable. Hi everyone I was sleeved back and December 2015 and have been steadily losing weight every week. For last two weeks I have not lost any. With Easter and having 3 kids lots of candy in the house I have been eating. I know this is not good. How can I get back on track any suggestions? I don't want my weight loss to stop but need some motivation to get back on track. Thanks in advance. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

So now I'm 3.5 months post op and the hair loss has increased a lot. I am getting all my Protein, taking Biotin 2x a day and just increased that dose to 10,000. Twice a day also using Nixon shampoo and conditioner 2x a week. Sometimes I wonder if the Nixon is making the Haitians worse as so much comes out when I use it. Any advice and thought on this would be highly appreciated. How long will this last for? TIA Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hello I am about 10 weeks out and for the last two weeks I have been losing a lot more hair than usually. I this the hair loss caused by surgery but so soon after only about 8 weeks? Does this mean it will stop sooner or be worse further out? I am taking my Vitamins and Biotin as well as using Nixon shampoo. Any advice? I had been struggling right after surgery with depression for a while and my emotions were everywhere but now most days I feel better but still have these hard days. Any suggestions advice for me in regards to hair loss and feelings of regret at times? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
