    Going Raw after Lap Band

I think getting the band will help me stay more raw. For me the main reason I couldn't do it was because of the $$. If i'm not having to eat so much I can do it. I don't get tired of eating raw, I know and realize how much better it is making me feel and what it's doing for my body.

    Going Raw after Lap Band

I couldn't agree with you more! I plan on getting protien from the shakes/smoothies so yes I will have a little milk but nothing major. I never said I wanted to be 100 vegan, but I would like to. it's just a healthier way to eat in my opinion. Thanks for your info and i'm glad it's working in your favor!!!
  6. Contrats to you!!! I don't know yet if I will have to do a pre-op diet or not. I hope and pray that I can be as strong as you were!!! My paperword was sent to insurance on monday the 11th. I'm so excited to get a grip back on my eating. I wish you a very fast recovery!!!
  7. I had my first visit with the surgeon yesterday and OMG it was AWESOME!!! I have UHC and they say they usually get a response back from them within 10 days!!! So after that they will schedule my tests and my nutritionist appt and give me a surgery date!!! YAY!!! I'm so nervous/excited/ready!!

Did you grind your flaxseed or did you buy it? I want to eat more raw fruits, veggies, nuts and seeds after my band and am worried about the nuts and seeds going down.

Just Got the OK from Doc!

Congrats!!! I am in the process of getting insurance approval! I'm so excited!!! You may want to check with your insurance carrier.. some of them offer skin removal after bariatric surgery! Of course mine doesn't ... but I'll worry about that when the time comes. Good luck!!! And I would be interseted in some creams too!!!

    Before Surgery

You guys are all so amazing!!! :smile2:
  15. Hello you guys!!! I am in the process of getting insurance approval for my surgery and I had a couple of questions I'm hopeing you can help me with!!! What are some of the important things to do BEFORE your surgery? What are some things you WISH you would have done? What kind of equipment did you have to buy if any? What about food? We haven't talked about this in the office as of yet but I'm sill very curious. How do you keep from getting stopped up??? Am I going to get to drink lots of water when I don't eat? Sorry for all the questions, I could go on and on and on! I'm just so excited for my new lifestyle change!
  16. Do you know what size band you got? If you got a 14cc it will take more fills before you find your sweet spot. I am hoping my stomach can handle a 10cc band, but I think my doc only does 14cc's.

    Going Raw after Lap Band

I would never try it without talkin to my doc about it but it is def something i want to do. You can find healthy protiens in lots of other things besides meat. mainly in nuts and seeds, but i just don't know how that will go down and stay down.

    Happening so fast!

WoW! I had my first Dr. appt on friday Feb 8th. The doc and staff were awesome. I turned in my novel, got weighed, answered some health questions and talked with the Dr. They are hopepfully going to submit my paperwork to UHC the beginning of this week. The lady up front also told me that UHC usually has a great turn around time with getting approvals back to them. Most within 10 days!!! So once that is done, I meet with the nutritionist, have my pre op testing and get a surgery date!!! I feel so blessed and I pray to God I'm not jinxing myself!!!

    Therapist and Dietitian

Well i had my first consult appt today and OMG it was AWESOME!!! I don't have to do the therapist thing (mainly cause i have been in therapy for a number of years already) and they are going to schedule all of my tests and nutritionist appts for the same day so I only have to travel twice counting my surgery!!! I've got an awesome doc. He seems like he really nows what he's talking about and that made me feel sooo much better!!! Thanks for all your support!!!
  22. Hi! Me again!!! I was wondering if any of you had to go a pretty good distance to get your surgery done? I am going to have to go about 2 hours and that's not too bad. But the dietitian and phsyc appointments... wonder if they can be done locally? I hate to have to drive all that way for that.

    Therapist

Hi all of you lovely people!!! I have yet another question! When you go to the Therapist... what all kinds of things is he or she going to ask me? Is there anything I should or shouldn't say? I don't want to slow down this process anymore than it's gonna take! I know that sounds horrible, but I have been in therapy for the last 8 years. I go for my first consult appt today!!! Soooo excited!!! :tongue2::Dancing_wub:

    Therapist

Come to find out I didn't have to do the therapist thing after all!!! Yay! My appt went AWESOME! They are supposed to submit my paperwork to insurance by Wed and my insurance company usually gives an approval within 10 days. So after that they will do my tests (x-rays, ekg etc) and set me a date! :-D :-D :-D
