OMG you made my stomach hurt from laughing so hard. It is wonderful to have such a fabulous sense of humor and be willing to share with us. I think you made a lot of people's day. It will great when you can compare the new to the old.

This is exactly how I felt about day 1 after surgery. I was thinking that I couldn't understand how I could let someone cut me open and put this object in me. There was also the realization that it couldn't easily be undone, at least not without having another surgery. But then the "drugs" wore off and I feel great. I'm still scared about having fills and not being able to eat the things I would like - like asparagus and salads. But I know this is going to change my whole life and I am moving forward.

Thank you all for you good wishes. I am 2 days post and feeling a little more alive. Yesterday was pretty trying, no real pain just a lot of discomfort, unable to get comfortable, sore back and shoulders because of the way I was getting out of the recliner. There were a couple of times yesterday that I questioned if I made the right decision. Today I haven't thought that at all. Today I still have a little discomfort on the left side especially when I stand straight up. I have to move a little slowly and tire easily. One of the main problems I have is remembering to drink the broth. I made a short trip to a local restaraunt with my parents and daughters - total of 45 minutes or so and had to come back and sleep. I'm supposed to go back to work Tuesday but may decide to stay out an additional day or 2. Good luck to everyone who is scheduled for the coming week.

Thanks so much for the gas tip. It has been a bit of a challenge getting them through the band. I found that if I stood up and straightened as much as possible that helped some too.

Karen, So glad read how well you're doing. Gives me something positive to look forward to. I was banded at 1pm this afternoon and am still a little sore. Not hungry but also not really looking forward to 2 weeks of liquids. Take care.

I'm from San Antonio, NW side of town. Scheduled for surgery 2/15 - Friday. My doctor is Dr. Gonzales from True Results/AIGB. Less than 2 days away and I'm a bit nervous. Wish me luck!

My surgery is Friday also and I too am looking for all the positive stories on the board. I have read the complications threads and don't want to know anymore about that for the next week. For now I am sticking with the food threads so I have some recipes for post op and threads like this one that tell me what to expect. Karen, I'm soooo glad to read how well you are doing. I thank you especially for writing about you experience on the day of surgery and forward. You have given me the hope that mine can be that good also. Good luck to you as you move forward to you goal weight.

Hi Melissa. Yes my surgeon is with True Results. The staff their is great, very friendly. I actually started my journey back in August. I went in after I saw an ad they had for a free work up. It turned out my insurance required 6 months of visits to a nutritionist. My 6th month visit was Jan 30 and they called me Feb 5 to tell me the insurance had approved it. I nearly fell out of my chair because I figured it would be 3-4 weeks before it was approved. I met with Dr. Gonzalez yesterday and he put me on a pre op of 2-3 Protein shakes a day plus one light meal with protein. My surgery is set for 2/15 and they tell me they will call me the day before with the time to show up. They schedule the surgery order based on BMI - highest to lowest. My surgery will be done at the True Results office.

I just want to say thanks to all of you. I started reading this thread and by the end of it I couldn't stop laughing. :lol:I hadn't thought of the "no undies" issue yet, my banding is scheduled for 2/15. I'm sure it would have come up sooner or later though. I too am worried about being put under for the surgery but know I'll be okay. :regular_smile: Thanks to all of you for your support and great info.

I am scheduled for my surgery 2/15. I have met with Dr Gonzalez and spoken with a few of his patients. Everyone loves him.

Hello to everyone. I am a single parent of 2 wonderful daughters. One is 16 and a junior in high school, the other is 11. I know they love me but I also know that my weight embarasses them sometimes. It embarasses me too. I am at 230 lbs now but would like to see 135 again. I will be happy if I can get to 175 though. After 6 months of insurance required nutrition counseling I have been scheduled for surgery on 2/15-I expected it to take a little longer than 3 days to get the final insurance approval. The surprised me.:eek: This is my valentine's day gift to me. I am excited about what the future will hold but scared about the surgery. This forum has given helped me understand that there is nothing to worry about. Good luck to everyone.
