    surgery on the 30th!!

now we're surgery triplets. i'm in houston myself.
  3. I am very proud of the people that did not cheat and those that only cheated a little, but i flat out cheated. I went into panic mode thinking i could never eat my favorite foods again. I had spaghetti and meatballs one night, hamburger and fries another night, mexican food, etc, etc. Yes, I cheated big time. Now I have a week until my surgery. Hopefully things will go smoothly, but if for some reason they can't do surgery, then I will just suck it up and torture myself for another two weeks. -Ashamed

    surgery on the 30th!!

aw, you're my surgery twin. hehe. i'm actually allowed to have two meals a day. i don't know why i couldn't even stick with that. i've been doing like one healthy meal, or one Protein shake, and then burger and fries from mcdonalds. it was totally bad, but i've been doing better now that it's closer to surgery. i know it's to benefit me and make surgery go smoother.

    Diagnostics Appointment

The cost is 12,400, but I am financing it through CareCredit. My payments will be about 225 a month for 7 years. I think that is the minimum payment, but I can pay it off before 7 years if I want to. The 12,400 also covers up to 10 fills for two years.

    Diagnostics Appointment

Well, I just had my diagnostics appointment today. It was not an appointment to see the surgeon. All I did was talk to a lady who worked at the weight loss center I am having my surgery through. She basically explained everything I already knew about the band. They also gave me an EKG and checked my vital signs. Since I am self-pay things will be moving fast. I have to get bloodwork done tomorrow, then next week I see my surgeon. Tomorrow I start my two week pre-op diet, then by the end of that I should have my surgery. Yay!

    Keeping it a secret?

I support those that wish to tell and those that wish to keep it a secret. For me, I choose to keep it a secret and only tell those I trust and love. Believe me, if someone is obese, you can bet they already have looked into gastric bypass or the lapband. They don't need someone who has already had it to consider it. Of course it's great to give them some advice based on your own personal experience with LB. But there is also other great ways to gain information about it. When I started to seriously consider LB I got online and found this message board, I bought some books, and also found people on youtube who are sharing their experiences. I think it's ok to keep it a secret and ok to not keep it a secret. It's a personal choice, and I think both are good choices.

    Keeping it a secret?

i was this close today telling my aunt i was planning on getting the surgery because she had gastric bypass years and years ago. but i decided not to, my family is way too nosey anyway. i've only told my mom so far, and i will tell my dad when i actually have a date. i just don't want to feel judged as i'm trying to get healthier.

    Losing weight.......and friends

thanks for the reply paulax. my mom and i actually have a very close relationship and her jealously rarely comes up, but when it does it kind of makes me sad. but if i do go through with surgery i want to try very hard to not let it get to me. i don't want to go another year unhealthy. i hope that my weight loss will motivate her so she can be happy as well.

    Losing weight.......and friends

we actually did go on a diet together and lost weight together. of course we both gained the weight back. but i told her that i will take my treadmill out of my room and put it in the guest room so she can access it too. thanks for the advice. i do think if she saw me eating right she would do the same.

    Losing weight.......and friends

i have not had to lap band just yet, but i plan to in a month or two. i'm worried that my mom might get jealous of me if i do the surgery. i already told her i was thinking about the surgery and she said "i'm going to lose weight too and see who loses the most weight faster." she said it in a joking manner but i could sense a bit of jealousy. i don't think she should be jealous because she is so much smaller than me, she is a little overweight but i don't think she is overweight enough for WLS. i want to surgery badly because i am very worried about my health at only 24. i just don't want her to be jealous because she doesn't have to be.
  15. hello, i just joined. i am not getting surgery, but i am thinking about it. i actually plan to call a surgeon tomorrow to get some answers but i decided to go ahead and ask some questions here to see if anyone can relate. i'm 24 years old and about 250 lbs. i am what you call a poor college student. i still live with the parents and i have a job that pays just a few bucks over minimum wage. i pay for college with loans and grants so i never ask my parents for any money. my question is, am i a candidate for a payment plan? i don't work full time so insurance is out of the question. i'm just wondering how much payment plans usually are. i have a feeling i don't make enough to even be considered for one, which kind of makes me sad. anyway, looking forward to some feedback. thanks for reading!

    college student with questions!

i won't be on her insurance anymore because i turn 25 soon, but i know it wouldn't cover it anyway.
