Hi everyone new here, just wanted to share my story hoping it will help someone in the future. And at the same time share your experience please. I was sleeved 12/22/15 with no complications week 3-5 post op I noticed how I was extremely nauseous and really didn't want to eat nor hardly drink. I was told it was normal so I figured it would pass..then week 5...got off of work on a Wednesday evening..and had this extreme feeling of cold and shaking to where I could hardly drive..I went home covered myself with 4 blankets and still couldn't warm up. I then had my husband call the surgeon and I then began to puke. My husband was told to rush me in..so we drove an hour to the e.r where my temp was 101.6 and my heart rate was high..I was automatically admitted. Ultrasound, ct scan and they believed I had a leak. Then the next morning I had a swallow test and well..I didn't have one but they discovered I had liquid and air in my stomach cavity. Oh and did I mention I had an infection.(sepsis) I was told I had an abscess or pinhole leak that healed itself. So I stayed in the sticu for 2 days npo, so very nauseous I felt horrible.. I was hooked up with loads of antibiotics and iv fluids...once everything was stable enough for the surgeon I was moved to a less monitored area..I was extremely dizzy and weak so I stayed there for 3 days, and am home as of yesterday...the only thing I am worried about is if there was "fluid" inside my abdominal cavity shouldn't I have had a drain put in..I'm just a tad bit worried as now that I'm home my side is kinda bothering me...any help would be greatly appreciated!! God bless????

One thing I will say is listen to your body..If you feel something is wrong..go with your gut...the place I got mine done at told me it was just acid reflux and all my signs were normal..next week I was in the hospital ...I will admit some progress differently but overall if u don't feel something is right get a second opinion.. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using the BariatricPal App Did you have a problem with extra saliva? I do and it's gross. I'm constantly spitting it out because it's so much. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using the BariatricPal App No I've never had that..I've heard that is common though... Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using the BariatricPal App -

Pinpoint leak is exaclty that..it literally by the grace of the Lord healed itself..what had gotten Me sick was the Fluid that leaked out of before it repaired itself., I also had what was believed to be an abcess on the spleen area. It's a good thing they caught this early instead of finding out like I did. I just thought all my symptoms were "normal" it was almost to late for me...praying for a full recovery for your girlfriend.. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using the BariatricPal App -
Hi all, I was sleeved 12/22/15, was hospitalized a month later with sepsis..the following months 1/27/16-3/16/16 during those two months I was on a liquid diet..once I was allowed to eat it was with no restriction. I slowly started to eat but now I almost feel like I eat too much...heres a typical day Bfast: 2 eggs 1/2 sandwich thin Snack: cheese stick or fruit lunch 2-3 oz of Protein, 1/4 c carb, 1/4 c veggie Snack: almonds 1/4 c or Greek yogurt dinner usually same as lunch... One big problem lately is eating fruit or sugar free reduced fat ice cream late at night I'm still losing weight tho Hw:265 Sw:229 Cw: 167 I want any advice so I don't start my bad habits again..be gentle please ..God bless???? Personally, I think you are a little carb heavy if this is a daily menu, but that's just my opinion. I am a bit more "decadent" with my menu so I would sub that breakfast bread with cheese on the eggs and a piece of ham, bacon, or sausage. My snack would be cheese or cheese. Maybe a few grapes, but protein with fruit, not just fruit so as to lessen it a bit. What kind of carb are you eating for lunch/lunch? I'd skip that and sub cheese, but DAMN... I love cheese. If you are eating brown rice, Beans, or a high fiber carb, that's different. Your late late night snack needs to change IMO. Nuts, jerky, cheese (what!?!?!), a bit of fruit, greek yogurt... I have no problem with Snacks as I graze most of my day, but I know that I personally have more hunger when I eat carbs right before bed. But that said, this is working for you. It would not work for me. You are not me. You're doing great, so you do you. If you find that your weight loss starts to slow or you start to feel more hunger, drop some carbs. You are doing fabulous. Lipsticklady I feel you on that..I'm thinking I may be doing too much carb too, when I do have carbs its usually brown rice or like half of a red potatoe..my nutritionist gave me this meal plan..but I kinda feel like it's a lot of food..I've been noticing some days I can eat a lot...and then there are days like this week where I can hardly eat..kinda weird... I've gotten that sharp pain maybe a handful of time. It is usually when I eat something dry and it gets stuck. As for when I was on pureed foods I had a lot of trouble..i could hardly drink or eat the sleeve definitely did its job..I could barely eat 1/4 c of anything... I got sick at week 4 and was basically on liquids for 2 months after that....so I didn't get to have solids till month 3...I was told no restrictions.. So I'm kinda scared I don't wanna over eat... I actually do hiccup once I'm full. I think the big thing is slowing down when you eat, but don't eat for more than 30 minutes at a time. I've been trying the whole 30 minute thing..which I struggle with cause I've always ate really slow even pre surgery..I do weigh my food out for the most part...and do stop when I think I'm full (aka sweaty!) So I've written before about my "self contained leak" and being hospitalized for sepsis. I was there for 5 days and was on multiple antibiotics.. Days later admitted again for dehydration. When this all happened i was on week 5 and was on soft foods..but other than that..I'm starting to feel a little better and am still healing. And I'm so thankful to God for his healing. I do have a concern though, I feel so weak and look absolutely like I'm wasting away ( dark circles around the eyes, I don't even recognize myself when I look in the mirror, my collar bone is sticking out horribly).., I've been on full liquid for about 2 weeks and still have another week. I've lost 50 lbs in 2 months. My Dr. Isn't concerned with protein but more focused on fluids. The thing is I'm only 30 lbs from goal weight. I'm just afraid Im starting to look malnourished...just needed to vent..thanks everyone...
